I really like the Hungarian entry this year. A contemporary pop song with English lyrics that aren’t completely idiotic. I hope I’m wrong but we’ve seen similar songs not make it to the final, Selma springs to mind.

9

David A

I’m rather taken with this but couldn’t tell you why! It has a sort of ethnic undertone which helps and although almost Eurovision clone like in its structure, it is well put together and builds nicely. A good stage presentation may see this through in what is a lacklustre year.

6

Elias

The best pop dance song of 2011.  Off course for such a song everything is the stage presentation and they can ruin it or make it huge.  I’m sure that I will prefer an English version.  Difficult Hungary not to be in the final this year

8

Monty

Now this has gone big in my hall! It’s big, bold and brash and I really like it. Not sure about her performance skills, but I’m hoping she pulls it off. This could be very big indeed in Düsseldorf.

9

Paul

This is a very old-fashioned, "typical" ESC entry from the 90s - mainly popular at the MF at that time. Some fans still like such songs but they usually flop these days, as they have nothing to do with the modern music biz. I personally think it is good to see the modern ESC as some kind of pop contest instead of a  cheesy and trashy schlager festival. Hungary will probably notice the change too, after their entry fails to qualify - which is very likely, since Poland and Croatia will also take away pts from it. 2 pts at best, absolutely no substance.

2

Dean

Oh yes, I like this!  Probably the best up-tempo song in the contest, it will be interesting to hear how it sounds when some of it is sung in English.  This entry has a vibrancy and excitement sorely lacking in so many of the other songs submitted this year.  Hooray for Hungary!

9

Samuel

One of the best entries of 2011, well done!

9

Gary S

One of the most instantly catchy songs for ESC11 – something that holds your attention from the start – as did Fairytale… good omen? The bi-lingual version only seems to have improved it, with the best parts of the full version packed into it…. Its  about time Hungary was one of the top 5 again. This has just the kind of full production that I like to hear filling the arena with sound. I still can’t believe that they didn’t make the final in Moscow! Gary for HunGary!

10

Pia

Just ordinary Euro pop, tired of these. Maybe better on stage ??

5

Gary P

A class entry and about time from this fab country. A good strong performance and we can only hope that the voters agree

9

Mark

Love this song, love this singer! Every couple of years Hungary put forward a top notch entry and this is certainly one of them. Would love to see it make the top 5, but can't see it winning.

8

David B

A big throbbing chunk of Eurodance belted out by a rather good singer. Set against dreary entries from the likes of Greece, Portugal and Norway, Hungary may very well romp home to the final. They may even win the whole thing on May 14th!

9

Roberto

I do like this song, typical mainstream pop with some 80's background. She is talented, she can sing, and Hungarian is a particular language. Pleasant song, builds nicely.  I do think that lovely Hungary still can show us some other little treasures.

8

Martin H

nice voice good projection and carry

7

Axel

Like Israel's song I like this intro, But here I also like the song. And I think that Hungary makes a good comeback.

7

Nico

Love it, love it, love it! Even in Magyar. Probably the best song so far this year. It even works in Magyar for me, so I hope they don’t ruin it with a poor English version.

9

Ryan

I usually never like the Hungarian songs but I do think that this one is just ok and better from their previous entries... Her voice is cute too and she can climb up the notes with such an ease :) But the song lacks alot ..

3

Eddie

Hungary, you always surprise me one way or the other. Wow, this is massive. Great sound, modern and she has a great voice. I hope the stage performance is massive as the song deserves it. Pop at its best! Loving the Kyile-esque 'Your Disco Needs You' choir.

9

Dmitry

Must be in final. Good song, good vocal, but not winner. Dana International must be better.

8

Danny

This is the one topping all the fan polls and it's easy to see why - it's a vibrant, catchy up-tempo number, with more than a hint of "I Will Love Again" by Lara Fabian to it, especially in that epic last minute. However, her performance at the press conference was dreadful, so she'll need to get practicing. Still one of my favourites!

9

Adri

great song from Hungary after 3 years.

8

Andrew B

This has all the power and punch that the Israeli song lacks. It will benefit hugely from being sung in English, and I hope that Hungary is rewarded with a place in the final this year.

8

Morten

Up-tempo pop again - but finally we have a catchy refrain and a strong voice in the very same entry. I really like the fact that Hungary curbs the tempo in the middle of the song. It makes the chorus less repetitive and Kati Wolf really knows how to save the best for last. This could have been a mediocre entry but Hungary made all the right choices and here we are with a great schlager for 2011. They've even included the beautiful Hungarian language in the verses. Merci la Hongrie - may you never leave ESC again.

8

Douwe

Like Austria, Hungary return to the contest with a song that not only gives them a fighting chance of reaching the final but score a stack of points when there ... They have obviously thought carefully about what might work in the year they were absent. Kati has a powerful voice and looks great - my initial misgivings about a bilingual version causing the flow to be disrupted were unfounded as this is rock solid and the merge is effortless and not clunky as is often the case. Just watch this one go ... Fantastic !

10

Roy

To me this is similar in style to Poland and will give Magdalena a run for her money. A strong powerful song and it will be great if Poland or Hungary could win. I see one of the composers is the same as CANDLELIGHT - Viktor Rakonczai. I like it, sounds good in Hungarian. Looks like the better songs have been kept for last?

8

Tom

Having been away from ESC awhile I held no great hopes for Hungary's return. However, they've come up with a surprisingly good dance-ballad crossover with a touch of Lara Fabian, and I "believe" that this could be one of the surprise success stories of the year.

9

Daniel

Good choice. I hope that Hungary will be in the final  this year. Great song from this country, the best in many years.

8

David G

Wow, vaguely aspirational disco power ballad. Great voice. Swedish schlager-fest from Hungary! It’ll go down a storm in the hall and might not even scrape the final, sadly.

9

Jose

In the past results of great songs like Czesy and NOX, must be very sad and frustrating for Hungarians. I hope that this marvelous song, has a warm welcome this year. I wish Hungary a top 3 position this year.

9

Brian

One of my favourites, playing it all the time at the moment. About time Hungary had a good placing again

9

Samantha

Totally worth the wait!  This is Eurovision Pop at its finest...high energy, catchy, a few great high notes, and a lot of fun!  Love it!  A bit nervously curious about what her English will sound like, but at least it will be bilingual, which I always like to see.

8

Andrew C

Having said it was Denmark, then Sweden I now think it could be Hungary. Very instant up tempo number which has translated well  into English.

Solid pop song from Blue. Though the chorus leaves something to be desired it’s still manages to be powerful and uplifting. From what I’ve seen they can pull it off live too, so IMHO this is the favourite to win.

9

David A

Utterly dreadful; the worst UK entry in years. Appallingly presented by an obviously disinterested old boy band who screech and chew there way through what barely resembles a song. An embarrassment and unadulterated drivel. Who do they imagine is going to vote for this? I’d rather vote for Belgium that’s how bad this is.

1

Elias

This was at the beginning of the previous decade a boyband, now they are simply a boring manband.  Their stage appearance is dull, their performance is boring and simple, there movements completely amateurish and even if they have good voices they leave you a sentiment of expecting much more

2

Monty

It has all the components it needed and it’s good to boot. Well done, BBC. The first UK song I’ve really felt behind for over a decade. Thank goodness we’ve stopped pi**ing about!

9

Paul

Some late "boy band" stuff - as expected. I don't see this entry as the big, winning one, it is far too predictable and calculated for that. Blue are probably looking for a good way to promote the song and the new CD, while the BBC  gets the desired decent result. In the end, a good deal for both sides. I don't think they are really looking for much  more than that.

6

Dean

This is easily the best UK entry since 1998, and has every chance of winning the Contest.  A modern, catchy song that fully justifies the decision to do away with a national final.  I can imagine juries and the public really liking this.  I love it.

10

Samuel

Well done for UK, Blue is a good choice

7

Gary S

Well this is one to excite the UK fans! Those long years of the dire Lottery Show selections and years of banal and repetitive Wogan commentary on the Contest is all but washed away by a song and a group that can restore our faith in the UK’s attitude to ESC. The wait was worth it. The best since 96 for me! Finally a UK entry that I can be 100% behind. This is current, professional, slick, powerful and a breath of fresh air. I am chuffed to bits about this one… Excellent! Go Blue, Go UK!  (I don’t think I have ever considered a UK song worthy of 10 out of 10 before, but do so this year unashamedly). Hey, its good to be British for once! Cardiff 2012 anyone?

10

Pia

YESSSSS! This is music in my taste. Finally UK is one of top 5 !!!

9

Gary P

At last the UK is sending some quality. Some of it is a bit screechy for my liking, but the overall presentation is good and fingers crossed others will give it a few votes

8

Mark

Blue back at their best! Can't see a boy band winning though, but this is a great effort from the UK, and these boys can certainly sing live

9

David B

A sigh of relief as the UK once again sends a song that is not going to shame the nation. Lee Ryan's screeching aside, this is the kind of contemporary song that sits easily in many a European chart. This should propel the UK back up the scoreboard but not, I think, to first place.

8

Roberto

They were so famous with a lot of hit singles and brilliant songs.  I'm not a fan of boybands and their music style changed a little, it seems. A nice pop tune, it works substantially, but unfortunately it doesn't involve me too much.  It would not be a memorable victory.

6

Martin H

Best song for years nicely carried hope for a good knock out stage show

10

Axel

Modern sound that I like. But I don't like the chorus.

6

Nico

Oh my goodness gracious me! The UK actually have a great song! I unashamedly LOVE IT! I am in shock. Manchester next year apparently... What a turn up for the books eh? France, Germany & UK amongst the favourites. And today I just heard the final version of Spain, totally love it too. And the bilingual version of Italy is a VAST improvement. So the Big 5 are looking good, but it's Royaume-Uni DOUZE POINTS! Hoorah, hoorah, hoorah!

10

Ryan

Amazing song that the UK do really deserve :D ... Blue is worldwide famous and this song got that wow factor just like their other songs :) Instead of I can .. They should named it We Can WIN :PP

8

Eddie

Well done to the BBC and the UK for putting some effort into the UK entry.

A popular band who can sing (very well). A good modern song with some excellent vocals riffs from Lee.

They know who to perform in huge arenas. For me, Top 5 for sure and I have a funny feeling the UK will be at the other end of the scoreboard this year.

9

Dmitry

One of my favorite songs on ESC 2011. Must be in final with good place.

10

Danny

I'm actually pretty proud to have this as our entry this year - at least it sounds like something from this decade! The guys perform it well but I think it's a bit too safe to go all the way. Still, a good effort

6

Adri

Very good song for the UK this year finally !!!.

8

Andrew B

I haven't been so disap-pointed by a UK entry since, well, last year. A totally misguided attempt at a 21st Century song which has clearly been written to show off the boys' ability to sing like girls. The chorus is absolutely c-c-c-c-crap and I have no idea why anyone thought that a Bulgarian housewife might pick up the phone for this.

Only joking! This is the UK's best entry since 1998 and the first time I have actually liked our entry since 2002. Is it as good as their early hits? Definitely. Will it be a smash hit in the UK? Absolutely. Will it win? Well, that’s another matter. Not because it isn't good enough, because it certainly is. Its just that there is the matter of an excellent home entry by the reigning champion, and a superb light opera song sung by a very attractive man with an amazing voice. Our SECHUK host, Gary, is off  home to Wales very soon to check out the Millennium Stadium, just in case.....

10

Morten

"I can" is a typical boyband-song which makes the UK entry for 2011 a bit disappointing, yet satisfactory considering all the poor UK entries from this millennium. The song itself is quite okay but it's the skilled singers who

makes this entry work. I'm not amazed but I'm

content and convinced that UK will reach Top 10.

7

Douwe

Blue are likely to bring the United Kingdom it's best result since Jade in 2009 and Jessica in 2002 with 'I Can'. This is indeed  the anthemic song that they promised when the group appeared in Spain's national final ... Loved the performance on Graham Norton's show ... With a decent draw this could easily be Top 5 come 14th May ... Very radio friendly and will undoubtedly be a huge hit for the boys.

8

Roy

The most known name who has not been to Eurovision and they have had several hits, so most people were eager to

hear the song. A group of 4 guys, all relatively good looking and so there is someone for everybody's taste, and a variation of good voices, I also looked forward to the song. It is nice and the verses are good. The chorus has some annoying bits, like at times it sounds like the record got stuck on the turntable. A good placing but I cannot see this

winning.

7

Tom

I will admit that I used to be quite a fan of Blue, but when I heard they would be the UK's entrant I didn't know what to think. However, they have blown me away. Very pop, very current, strong harmonies and a powerful hook, I know the boys will do us proud.

10

Daniel

Blue is a great boy band. I can is a good song from the UK, with an strong chorus. Let's see if the UK get a high position in the final.

7

David G

Is the song strong enough? The vocal production on the single is great, but it wasn’t  great live last night. If this is a hit before the contest it could do well, if most viewers hear it first on the night, we will end up mid-table.

10

Jose

At least one approach to the good pop that can be made in UK. The song will be easily forgotten by me, but quality is simply good

6

Brian

Very pleased and surprised as I'd almost convinced myself that it would all come to nothing. Catchy chorus and I don't see why we shouldn't win with this

7

Samantha

Wow...a serious, contemporary contender for the ESC title from the UK?  Pinch me, I must be dreaming!  Well produced, well sung, well-performed, and they're well-liked all over the continent...this has the potential to take the title.  As for my personal opinion, I hate to admit how much I love this song, as I've spent most of my musically-aware life hating boy bands.  "I Can" could convert me.

9

Andrew C

It's grown on me since the initial performance but I'm still irked by Lee's high screeching. Should see the UK back in the top half of the table.

As excited as some fans are about this song, for me it never really quite peaks. Amaury doesn’t exactly ooze personality and whether he can pull this off liv remains to be seen. Pseudo-operatic songs have not fared well recently, Didrik last year, Vlad Mirita, Malena Ernman, to name but a few. Nice touch to sing it in Corsican though.

5

David A

This will come across as highly dramatic on the night in the midst of the other stuff surrounding it and if it gets a good draw could do ok. I’m not keen, it’s too ‘musical’ for me and although the juries will love it I can’t see it appealing to the young televoters of Europe.

3

Elias

Amazing song and unbelievable voice.  My problem stands with the non existence of a live orchestra in Düsseldorf which will not help the song get the right feeling.   Also I have a problem with Amaury’s way of delivering the song alive.  I find his face expressions and attitude immature and not passionate.

8

Monty

This has all the elements of pretentious schmaltz that I really don’t like, but I can’t deny it’s also the same elements that make things like this inexplicably popular. So I’m hedging my best: not really my taste but I’ve had a little flutter on it.

5

Paul

A very interesting quality entry from France this year – an operatic bolero in Corsican.  If Bocelli and Potts could be successful all over Europe with even more traditional opera stuff, I don’t see why Amaury shouldn’t be very successful too? With the right performance, this could even be the winning entry of this year’s ESC.

10

Dean

Everyone seems to be raving about this, but I'm not totally sold on the song.  I 'get' it, and Amaury is obviously a good performer.  I just don't find the melody that memorable. That said, given a good draw, and that it's very different to everything else, it could do very well.  A French win would be nice, but they've had better songs.

6

Samuel

Wow! Good choice for France.. quality & power

8

Gary S

If he can deliver this live, then France could walk this contest. That said; it’s a powerful but not instant melody. A dramatic performance could shatter the opposition though and this could make most of the entries look amateurish in comparison, so let’s hope everyone is polishing their performances to perfection, France means business and I’m impressed that a minority language there gets such a big profile (BBC – how about an entry in Welsh!?).

9

Pia

Explosively romantic. Fantastic singer

9

Gary P

Wow what a class act - I have no idea how it will place in a Euro final but it sounds really powerful and lets hope it does well

8

Mark

Wow! This is really good. I know that other countries have tried the classical approach in the past without success, but I think this is better than the all and stands a realistic chance of coming away with the crown on May 14th.

9

David B

What happens when you cross Ravel's 'Bolero' with some background music from 'Doctor Who'? France appears to have managed it with this fantastic piece of drama. Possibly one of the best Eurovision entries for years.

9

Roberto

Enchanting and fantastic romanza. Superbe, magnifique. There is a bit of Andrea Bocelli in this performance, but surely this song has everything: voice, charm, elegance, passion, emotions, and quality. It's very melodic, pleasant, anthemic, never boring or repetitive. Goosebumps. A "dream" for France.

10

Martin H

Lovely song, this guy has talent and looks by the bucket full. Hope he throws a stage show and a half together but televoting is not ready for this.

10

Axel

A really good opera song. But I am not sure if this is going to work. But hopefully it will.

8

Nico

I have a suspicion this will be much better live, but though I like it, it does somehow feel like it's a missed golden opportunity from France, it's just not quite climactic enough. At this stage last year we were complaining of too many ballads. This year there don't seem to be anywhere near enough and a strong one could really have been in with a chance. Obviously a great singer and if people that like opera watch Eurovision, then they may just pick up the phone. Is it even rousing enough for juries to vote for though? I'm not convinced, but with a powerful live performance and a good draw you never know....

6

Ryan

Such an amazing song that will definitely stand out from the other songs which are typically Eurovision. I guess this will finish top 5 if not top 3 :) His voice is simply AMAZING and song is Great :)

8

Eddie

The one to watch. A hit with Juries but will Europe's televoters go for it. Amazing voice, so lyrical and strong. It will be a powerful performance. Ending is weird. My heart loves it but my head is waiting for the draw. Excellent entry - well done to France for thinking outside the box.

7

Dmitry

I'm not a big fan with that type of music. Sorry.

1

Danny

This seems to be the overwhelming favourite among the fans, dropping from 67/1 to 5/1 in 24 hours! He sings it well but I find it horribly overblown. I guess it will do well but it's really not floating my boat at all.

1

Adri

A great song, but I have a feeling, the song will be at last places, like Malena Ernman or Didrik (bump), and I hope it doesn't happen.

8

Andrew B

And suddenly we have an obvious winner. This boy has the most incredible voice, the song is based on Ravel's Bolero in part, which will give it recognition factor. And even if none of those things were enough, he has a smile that will melt the heart of everyone watching the contest. Only one criticism: he is in dire need of some styling & consulting

10

Morten

"Sognu" will certainly be an outstanding entry in Düsseldorf but probably not in a good way. The bombastic song may appear as unintentionally funny on stage. Actually, I find Amaury Vasili's facial expressions compared with his operatic voice a bit tacky and comical. Nevertheless, I have to surrender to the song itself. It builds very well, the orchestration is beautiful and I almost get goose bumps during the middle piece. Reminds me a bit of "Anthem" from Chess, actually. A touching song and a brave choice, indeed.

8

Douwe

Pure and absolute class of the highest calibre and a total goose bump moment! If this is performed well on May 14th we could very easily be heading to Paris in 2012 ... Shades of Josh Groban here ... what a voice and what a truly beautiful song! Will go down in Eurovision history as one of France's masterpieces.

9

Roy

It is no secret that French is for me the language I like least in Eurovision, but in 1993 I had their song in the Corsican language as my top favourite. This year they sing in this language again, and from early indication, I am again loving it. The singer has a clear, powerful voice, the song is melodic and it is so different from what the other countries are dishing up. Since I will be flying with Air France to Düsseldorf, maybe this is a sign that France could do well. Who knows, maybe it is Paris 2012?

9

Tom

I didn't know what to think of this at first, but in the end I'm quite impressed. I don't love it, but it's clever and pushes the right buttons. The Corsican is a bit of a cop-out, still it's a recipe for jury success. But with televoters? That's another question...

8

Daniel

France sends a great song to Düsseldorf, with a big quality, however is not the style that I usually support. Despite that, is a great song.

6

David G

Classy and sophisticated rising majestically above a sea of novelty acts. So bottom 5 again then.

9

Jose

Remarkable lyrics and vocal skills. I only have the doubt if ESC voters will appreciate this artistic talent, since great performers like Malena Ernman and Patricia Kaas have been overlooked before, in benefit of more choreographic songs

8

Brian

Could this see France back in the winners spot? I don't see any reason why not. This will really stand out in the final as long as they have a late draw. I like how it builds and he makes it seem so effortless. a real singer

8

Samantha

France has really outdone themselves this year!  Amaury brings an opera sensibility to the ESC without alienating a younger audience, which is an incredibly hard balance to achieve.  The song is beautiful, and it's a refreshing counterpoint to what we normally hear in Eurovision.  I am genuinely impressed, and can't wait to hear it live.

8

Andrew C

Different enough to stand out. Expect France to be in the top half of the table for the first time in a while.

Great contemporary song, much in the style of Katy Perry. Very catchy and immediately appealing and memorable. This has got to be one of the contenders for the top prize.

8

David A

This seems neither one thing nor another and just leaves me confused with my ears rejecting it. It is sung well but is simplistic and sounds like a backing track with the main vocal removed. It will have to depend on a good performance to make an impact.

3

Elias

What an amazing stage presentation.  Dance routine, attitude, outfits everything work together like a clock.  Getter may not have the best voice but her stage presentation cover any voice insecurities.  Definitely Top10 in the Final.  Don't change anything for Düsseldorf, maybe only Getters dress.

9

Monty

This is such an unusual blend of lyrics, music, and beat, and I’m not really sure why it works, but I find it so beguiling. I’m sold on it totally.

9

Paul

I wanted Ithaka Maria to win so maybe I am not objective about this one. It is too much of a fan hype for me and I can't believe the composer of the amazing Rändajad is being responsible for this song. On the positive side, it is catchy and very well performed, with Getter even doing a little „magical trick“ on stage – now that's entertainment. If it doesn't follow the road of former fan hypes ,like Slovakia 10, it will do very well at the ESC.

8

Dean

Hooray - a good song!  Quirky with a great melody, this is fab modern pop.  Getter looks like she's having a good time, and I reckon this is going to do very well in Germany.  Bravo.

9

Samuel

The more I listen to it, the more I love it. A new style for a new decade. Perfect!

8

Gary S

While accepting that this is not aimed at me, few ESC songs grab me on the first hearing. This one did and will remain a big favourite for me. A perfectly crafted pop song that blends almost lullaby qualities with a rousing chorus and a quirky but well thought-out performance. One to get the audience going. Has to be in with a big chance…

10

Pia

A little bit different, fine rhythm, fine melody

8

Gary P

I really like the beat to this song, I think this is a good contrast to many of the other entries and I hope they make the final with this one

7

Mark

Yuk! Yuk! Yuk! Hated every second of it No chance of making it to the final with this song!

3

David B

A nice performance and a song slightly pandering to something once recorded by Lily Allen. Catchy enough to see Estonia in the final and maybe even top of the list on finals night.

7

Roberto

There's something good in this song. A powerful ongoing that easily enters in your head.  Undoubtedly radio-friendly but overall satisfactory. Like it.

7

Martin H

nice opening builds to a nice chorus then goes off the boil

5

Axel

This song is OK. But not more than that. But I like the singer a lot.

5

Nico

Not the most original song amongst the many in their final, but it’s a good entry from Estonia and nicely staged, should see them back in the final again.

6

Ryan

Finally, a breath of fresh air from Estonia. Much better than their typical ZzZZzZZzz songs :)! ... This sounds amazing but I feel that this won't qualify or if it will it won't get high placing ;)

7

Eddie

Well done Estonia and Sven. A top pop song, with a mixture of fairytale and modern beats. Great performance and very memorable! Top 10, I really hope so!

8

Dmitry

Interesting song! Interesting show! The song must go to the final.Necessarily.

10

Danny

Finally! Something to wake the contest up! This girl is very likeable and performs her catchy song brilliantly. This is going to be a fan favourite and I think could do very well for my favourite Baltic state!

9

Adri

the song is so good, and it's in my top 10

7

Andrew B

This was my favourite in a very good final from Estonia. Bang up to date, great beat, catchy, well presented, what's not to like about
this one? If it doesn't qualify I will be amazed.

9

Morten

Getter Jani is a good singer and she pulls of a great show on stage. The verse is exiting but unfortunately it leads to a very disappointing chorus. It's just repetitive beats and it leaves me quite indifferent to the song as a whole.

5

Douwe

Absolutely love the staging of this show piece ... and definitely evoking memories of Manhattan -very well performed ... and great that each year Estonia are trying something new ...
Undeniably catchy, this will stick in people's minds and hopefully bring Estonia back to the final. Only one word of warning - the vocals
sound as though they are suffering slightly due to all of the movement ... tweak this and they are onto something here !

7

Roy

Another 100% improvement over the 2010 entry. A song for the modern generation and very well performed. I like the presentation better than the actual song. Eurovision is a TV spectacular anyway, so this could just do well.

7

Tom

Finally, another great pure pop song for Estonia! Eesti Laul was my favourite national final so far this season and although I warmed to Mimicry in the live performance, this is the standout song. She needs to work on her live vocals and the staging, but this is the kind of song I just can't get out of my head and I think much of Europe will feel that way one night in May!

10

Daniel

The Estonian song is a great option. Maybe this song need some repairs, but anyway is a great song.

8

David G

Catchy number, and not the Satellite clone I thought from the opening bars. Still has the dodgy accent though. Great tempo change, but staging too gimicky?

8

Jose

Funny and charming, one to enjoy this song, I don't expect great results in the final, but thanks Estonia for this refreshing concept

7

Brian

Not bad at all, think this will do well for Estonia, catchy and a good performance

7

Samantha

Sven Lõhmus does it again!  I like the slightly surreal imagery, blended with a bridge I could imagine being performed by a pep squad and a poppy chorus.  Getter seems very young, but that kind of works with the sort of wide-eyed optimistic wonderment that people get when they first visit Manhattan.

7

Andrew C

Love the feel of this and certainly think it should be highly placed. A winner? Not sure it has the impact, but a great effort for Estonia.

Strong contemporary mid tempo song. Classy and professional singers, which is never a given. Somebody in Azerbaijan knows what they’re doing. It goes to prove it’s not rocket science. Other countries should take note: it really can’t be that difficult to get it right!

8

David A

This starts very promisingly and overall is not bad. However it just isn’t punchy enough and seems to be holding back and missing a heavy hook. It is one of the better efforts this year and as long as they don’t commit death by choreography like before, it should do well.

5

Elias

Swedish composers are everywhere this year and if we don't hear a song from them we hear a copy of their pop songs (ex. Croatia, Hungary, Poland, Romania etc).  Azerbaijan will invest again a lot on their participation but they must not exaggerate with their stage presentation if they want to succeed.  I don't see this doing any better than last year but it will certainly be in the final.

6

Monty

Another contender for the most inconsequential song of the year? It’s very plain, isn’t it?

3

Paul

It was worth waiting for this song IMO: a very cute and touchy, slow pop song, which hits the current zeitgeist and mainstream of the European pop biz. Would be interesting to know the live version and performance but even at this early stage, I would give it 10 pts. Azerbaijan should make it to the final once again.

10

Dean

Azerbaijan are determined to win!  I think it's a bit of shame they are using Swedish songwriters, but there's no denying this is one of the best songs in the Contest.  A fantastic melody, this is going to be battling it out for the top spot.  Superb.

10

Samuel

As always, they send the best of the year

10

Gary S

I can’t imagine this is a typical Baku sound, but Oh-Oh-Oh-Oh seems to be the call for much of ESC 11 and modern music these days. I blame that Umbrella woman. This is well crafted and solid – it remains to be seen how it sounds live and it could yet be spoiled by overly ambitious choreography as in 2010. It’s a little disappointing that it’s a foreign writing team again (surely AZ writers would love the chance to represent AZ?), but I have to admit that I do like this and they should hit the top 10 again. BTW if this is written by Swedes, why is Sweden not entering songs like this?!?!

6

Pia

Yesss!! They are singing for winning !! This is good !! Looks like the last ones are the best ....

9

Gary P

The singers sound good and the song is OK - my only concern is the repetitiveness. I am not sure it lasts well for the whole 3 mins

6

Mark

Wow! I think I might have to go and live in Azerbaijan! The Music they have given us for the last 2 years is superb. Is this what all music is like there? Anyway, I absolutely love the Guy's voice, and the woman sounds like Kylie, what more could you ask for!

10

David B

I'm already liking it better than last year's entry which has to be a good sign. Maybe it's a little repetitive but the song does have a nice melody. Any high placing for Azerbaijan this year would arguably be on merit rather than diaspora votes.

8

Roberto

This reminds me some youth pop songs in the mid-80's. Not so bad and not so brilliant. Too much European or Nordic to be truly Azeri or, however, typically Eastern. It seems a theme from a movie or from a TV serial. It wants to show and communicate something, but it pretends too much. Compliments to the songwriters... only to them.

6

Martin H

good voices could get close on the night if they can get a good stage show together

7

Axel

An ok song. But not more than that.

6

Nico

Very nice and unexpected effort. Makes the first semi even more difficult to call. Not a challenger for the title I don't think, but a very pleasant song.

7

Ryan

Its good song with respectable potential. Sounds so alike with the Slovakian song though Slovakian 's TWiiNS are better than this one. Vocals are good but need to improve diction eh ! Actually this will make it but will finish top cause of diaspora :(

6

Eddie

It's gonna be Baku hosting ESC soon and it may be the year. An attractive duo who voices are really nice. With the right minimal stage performance and a good draw, we could do very well. For me, it's an excellent commercial song, but lacks the hook for a winning song.

8

Dmitry

The singer from this country says, that she look good for ESC.

But I'm not sure. What happened with AZERBAIDJAN this year?

Of course, not first place I think.

3

Danny

This doesn't sound very Azeri to my ears, and sounds like a duet between Miley Cyrus and The Jonas Brothers! It is rather sweet though, and is an obvious finalist, and will more than likely finish top 10 in the final.

8

Adri

a good song , after an awful preselection, i didn't expect this :) Good Luck for Azerbaijan

8

Andrew B

Oh, no, not another song that I love. Could they not have been evenly spread over the last five years? This is another song that very
cleverly manages to be very current, and at the same time to tick all the right Eurovision boxes. It sounds like the boys from Blue could
easily have written this song - the two songs are not dissimilar. I would be very happy for this song to win. I am going to have to hold a
semi final in my head just to work out which are my favourites this year, there are so many. And as we reach the end of the line, with only the new Belarus song to go, I am looking forward to checking back
in May to see whether my first reactions were right or not. I hope that Running Scared doesn't turn out to be Butterflies Mk II !

10

Morten

"Runnin" is a well-produced pop song but it's way but too sugary and boring for my taste. The verses sound ok but the chorus is sooo repetitive and I'm not a big fan of falsetto. They both have very nice voices, though.

3

Douwe

This has echoes of a number of other songs that have been cleverly mixed and the result isn't at all bad. Since they arrived on the Eurovision scene Azerbaijan have shown that they take the contest seriously. It's just a shame they don't seem to have any Azeri songwriters. I'm still to be convinced that they can pull this off 'live' on stage but there is time between now and May for this to be addressed. Once again this will see them into the final without a shadow of a doubt ... Maybe not a winner but it might go very close ...

8

Roy

Totally different from what I have expected - people were saying another ALWAYS. The male singer has a great voice, a very universal voice, could do well in the USA For example. The female's voice is not as strong. But together they do it well and the song has instant appeal. Will go to the final.

8

Tom

Considering how the Azerbaijan NF was even more shambolic than the Ukrainian, I didn't expect anything great to come from them this year. But in fact the song is really nice, a very contemporary ballad, but whether the oddly renamed Ell & Niki have the skills to pull it off live remains to be seen...

9

Daniel

Great song, with a  catchy chorus. Azerbaijan always sends top 10 to Eurovision, this year this country will have a great position too. Well Done.

9

David G

Proper, world-class pop song. Faultless.

10

Jose

Another forgettable song. Unhappily one more country that is always present in the top positions just because the name of the country. If this song were performed by Monaco, Andorra or Czech Republic will become last for sure. But seems that are many Azeri in Europe, as well as Turkish, Russians, and Armenians.

4

Brian

Another classy entry from Azerbaijan. It may not be representative of Azeri music but there is nothing in the rules that says it has to be. I like it

7

Samantha

It's almost refreshing to see something so simple from Baku.  After "Day After Day", "Always", and "Drip Drop", I never thought that I'd ever put "subtle" and "Azerbaijan" in the same sentence!  Ell and Nikki's voices work well together, which is a pleasant surprise, considering I didn't love Nikki's voice in the National Final.  All in all, a beautiful song that will likely perform well in its semifinal.

7

Andrew C

Accomplished effort from a country who are just so desparate to win this contest.

Since Scandinavia can’t seem to offer decent schlager these days I’m quite happy for Poland to take the baton from the other side of the Baltic. Magdalena comes across as a confident performer and I hope she makes the final. Please keep it in Polish.

8

David A

This is very generic typical euro-song and could be from anywhere east of the Alps. I thought the standard in the Polish final was good so I was hoping for something a bit different to win. However the singer is clearly having fun which is often missing from performances these days. Overall a tad formalistic and repetitive but jolly enough and I think it will depend on the draw whether this leaves the semi or goes the same way as Slovakia last year.

4

Elias

I think the Polish this year had only one good choice in their final and they picked it. Magdalena has an amazing voice and she was accompanied on stage by three exceptional backing vocalists.  I disagree with the dance routine and the outfits.  Nothing new, nothing interesting, nothing to be remembered for.

7

Monty

Now you’re talking. A fabulous performance – look she does her own stunts!  There’s much to enjoy here, and hopefully Poland’s best performance for many a year. It’s certainly their best song sine To Takie Proste, a looooonnnggg time ago!

8

Paul

A typical Eurovision up-tempo song - very catchy and Magdalena seems to be a good singer. She needs to get rid of her backings though, as they weren't really strong and she should rethink the dress: there's a thin line between sexy and tarty. She needs to be careful not too end like Elena Gheorghe or Tereza Kerndlová but it will be difficult to qualify from the tough first semi anyway. It is still one of the better polish ESC entries so far..

7

Dean

This starts promisingly but the chorus doesn't really grab me.  Not bad and, dare I say it, might sound a lot better in English?

4

Samuel

After some years, finally Poland made it.. they chose an excellent entry, catchy and perfect for the contest!

8

Gary S

A good solid safe modern pop song, but is that enough for ESC these days? I’m reminded of Je T’adore, but that only means that this has been done before. I can’t say anything bad about it, although the verse promises a bigger chorus… but it doesn’t make me want to jump out of my seat like Anna Gogola did… Magda is a good performer though, so I won’t write it off totally.

7

Pia

Ordinary europop, I liked it but it’s not enough, kind of repeating itself , sorry but no

6

Gary P

I have tried to listen to this song a few times but drift off!  Sorry Poland but it is just an ok song

5

Mark

There is nothing new about this song. It is the same as about 100 other songs I have heard lately. Will probably do OK but no chance of winning. The laddered leggings is not a good look!

6

David B

I salute the televoters of Poland! At last, a 2011 entry that I can honestly say that I like. The song isn't exactly innovative but it's catchy, has a memorable beat and Magdalena sells it well. A set full of flashy lights and eccentric camera work will hopefully propel Mistress Tul into the final.

7

Roberto

"I am" is a good song, with a powerful opening and a dragging ongoing. It sounds a bit familiar, but it has its own driving melody. Nice stage lights and images. A good chance for the final, but not for a whorty place, I'd say.

7

Martin H

Very lively holds together well not too harsh despite being in polish nice stage presence

8

Axel

A good song. I like it a lot. I am interested in if she is going to sing this song in Polish or English in Eurovision.

8

Nico

The best Polish song since Ale Jestem way back in 1997. Very catchy and sticks in the brain even in Polish. Also very well performed. It looks like Poland will be back in the final again and should do better than Isis Gee.

7

Ryan

Is she trying to impersonate Morena's look. If so, she is good eh ! Her voice is cool and maybe This song can rush into the finals... All I can't get is how this girl submitted this song for Eurovision ?! If I were her, I'd probably release it.. It's be a hit on MTV..

5

Eddie

Well done Poland - a great pop song, great singer. It's not a winner but something up to date and modern is what we need in the contest. Should see Poland into the final.

7

Dmitry

Good eurosong. Satisfies my desires. But this is not a winner. Here, you need something more than  this song can submit!

7

Danny

After a few years of picking not so great songs, Poland finally get it right with this rather contemporary song, performed well by this lovely looking girl - a sure fire finalist if I have ever heard one, and sure to be a big hit in the Euro Club in May!

9

Adri

The song is amazing and Poland will be in the final after 2008 , with Magdalena, that, will make an amazing performance.

9

Andrew B

Good performance of a charmless song. This will likely be a fan favourite and will probably disappoint on the night.

5

Morten

Wild dancers, a lot of lightening and a choir who looks like the triplets of Amélie de Montmartre. It seems a bit desperate to me... "Jestem" is an ok pop song but that's about it. I love the Polish language but the lyrics will probably be translated into English and thus make the song more forgettable. All in all a mainstream song in an overdone performance-package.

5

Douwe

Magdalena has got the looks ... a voice not a million miles removed from the magnificent Edyta Gorniak's and possibly Poland's strongest entry for many a year ...
I don't see it as a winner but certainly in with a chance of reaching finals night given a good performance and a slight tweak here and there between now and May ... strong stuff !

8

Roy

The song is quite energetic and fairly commercial. The singer is good looking but I hope she will have her hair loose in Düsseldorf. The stage was slightly full to me, the two dancers got too busy and distracted from the song. Great she is singing in Polish, but maybe she will change to English for Eurovision? Would like to go to Warsaw next year but I don’t think it will happen

6

Tom

Another commercial pop track, with a quite American, Christina Aguilera type sound. I never expect big things from Poland, but this year they have surprised me, and I think come May this will be a fan favourite, and it could give them their best result since 2003.

8

Daniel

Poland has chosen a very good song this year. I think Poland will be in the final in Düsseldorf. It's a strong song that could get a good place.

6

David G

Yes, now we’re cooking! Sexy girl, good strong dance song. With the right costume(more basque and laddered tights, not so much the sparkly knitwear) and performance this could do nicely. Though not really a winner....

7

Jose

By far one of the best this year, strong voice, good melody, may be if the song is translated to English and has good lyrics can be a top 10

9

Brian

The best song chosen for me so far. This is the sort of entry I like. Quick and pacy and lots going on about her including her own acrobatics. Hope the song is kept in Polish and not changed to a weak English version. I'd love to see Poland back in the final and I think they can do it with this

8

Samantha

So far, this might be the best of the traditional "Europop" entries this year!  Magda looks like a cross between Dannii Minogue and Ani Lorak, and the fact that she penned this herself earns a few bonus points.  Best Polish entry since 1997, in my opinion.

8

Andrew C

A pretty formulaic entry from a country from which we are used to getting something pretty off beat. That said it doesn’t offend but does it please enough to see it in the final. I’m not so sure..

Slightly contrived and vaguely reminiscent of many other songs. I’m sure the Danes know something I don’t because I can’t really explain how they chose this with so many other options available.

5

David A

Is this the winner? I hope not but it is both catchy and ultra irritating at the same time, something the last two winners have in common.  They look different from the usual and that will add to the attraction. I can hear this being played endlessly on a television commercial for orange juice or a building society. It will do very well but I'm not keen.

3

Elias

Very powerful final for Denmark.  ''A friend in London'' is a band with a distinctive attitude, young and energetic.  The song is so appealing to greater audiences and it's simple lyrics will give another great result for Denmark.

9

Monty

Another lavish final on another amazing stage, but for me a rather disappointing result. I think this will do very well, and could take a dent out of Blue, but it’s not really what I want to be listening to.

3

Paul

Typical song from a late „boyband“, probably similar to Blue's entry. It reminds me of something I’ve heared a million times before mixed with a little bit of „Love shine a light“ and "Every Song Is a Cry for Love" with a kinda cheesy message. But Denmark usually scores well with such easy listening stuff and some fans already start to hype it. I see it in the final if they work on the performance but it is not really winning material IMO.

5

Dean

Although I much preferred 'Sleepless' and '25 Hours A Day' in the fantastic Danish national final (the best of the year?), this Andreas Johnson/Beatles-sounding song, is still pretty good. Anthemic with a strong hook, this should sail through the semi, and be Top 10 in the final.

7

Samuel

Good song that shows music from nowadays. Denmark chose right

7

Gary S

Topical but not the expected winner in Denmark. One for the youth of today, so it’s not quite lighting my ageing fire. Having seen the live performance with its Slava moment and impressive vocals, I’m more impressed, so it could be up there for Denmark again. I don’t know the Swedish song this is being compared to, so I’m happy enough with it.

7

Pia

Like a protest song from the 70´s ...

6

Gary P

Good stuff from the Danes (I am a bit prejudiced as they are by far my favourite Eurovision country). I think this sounds a really quality song and was well performed in the final. Come on Denmark!

9

Mark

Oh dear I am confused! I have my money all ready to put a sly bet on Austria, but I absolutely love this song, and I think it will appeal to young voters, oh dear I will have to rethink!

10

David B

I had resigned myself to this NOT winning the Danish final. Ok it might be a re-working of several Andreas Johnson songs but I love it. A different, fresh sound for the Danes. This one could go close!

9

Roberto

Very good song. I like also their performance. Nice, catchy, positive, uplifting, anthemic. You can listen to it and immediately appreciate it. I really hope in a worthy place in the final for them.

9

Martin H

good strong opening builds nicely to the chorus but needs more punch

4

Axel

I don't think it was the right song which won In Denmark. I think it should had been Jenny Berggren. But I like this song to.

8

Nico

This is very good! Much better than the original Swedish version by Andreas Johnson, Sing For Me, which in fact I didn't care for too much. However on the basis that the two songs (and countries) are far too close for it to be a coincidence I cannot with good conscience score it more than the minimum. If it doesn't get disqualified, I dare say this could be the winner (so far). You may compare for yourselves on youtube

1

Ryan

Cool song though I preferred sleepless. This is my fave right now. It's fresh and this style really suits to ESC. Will definitely earn many points and a very high placing in the scoreboard :)

9

Eddie

Ok so yes it sounds like Sing For Me, but that's a very good thing. Sometimes in ESC we overlook the simple pop songs and this is one of them. Great song, standard delivery. A very Dark horse I feel. Scary Lead Singer hair!

7

Dmitry

Denmark a few years sends on ESC nearly identical songs, and this is no exception. Fair, but not good

5

Danny

A typical middle of the road Danish entry. I really wish they would try something different for a change. It sounds rather like Sing For Me by Andreas Johnson, but it is sure to qualify. Lower Top 10 perhaps?

5

Adri

it's not better than last year , but the song is very good. Good Luck Denmark ! See you in the final !

7

Andrew B

Rather like last year's entry, this starts of sounding like something else. In this case it's Shine (which was itself based on an MF song
from a couple of years ago, which was probably based on something else....). If you had told me it was the new single from Lovebugs I
wouldn't have been surprised. A certain qualifier for Denmark and a
top five finish is in sight. Blue may be beginning to regret throwing
their hat into the ring at this point.

7

Morten

Apart from the cheesy lyrics, this is a very catchy Eurovision-anthem that even sounds up-to-date. It's very instant and especially the "whoa whoa" in the middle piece sticks to my brain. I would like to be more humble towards my own country's entry but I really dig this, it cheers me up.

8

Douwe

This all sounds vaguely familiar but I can't quite put my finger on what it reminds me of ... the music of Andreas Johnson springs to mind ... There is nothing at all wrong with 'New Tomorrow' - it is undoubtedly well performed and clearly a song that will score well for Denmark in Düsseldorf - another positive lyric (not dissimilar to Romania's song this year - hopefully they won't be drawn to perform next to one another in the second semi final) but it just doesn't grab me as much as the runner-up in the Dansk Melodi Grand Prix, the totally phenomenal 'Sleepless'

6

Roy

I have been anticipating this after the 2009 and 2010 Danish euro songs have been the biggest euro hits in South Africa in recent years. I think 90% of euro fans have a friend in London, but now we may all be looking for a FRIEND IN COPENHAGEN. Brilliant song - will give BLUE a run for their money (can it be that the choice of Blue influenced the Danish voters?). Love the

lead vocalist voice - the kind of voice you cannot grow tired of.

10

Tom

You can always rely on Denmark for a nice MOR radio song, and this is no exception. Much has been made of it's similarity to a particular Swedish song, but that song was far superior, but this workmanlike rocker pretty much defines "pleasant but unremarkable".

7

Daniel

Denmark also sends a great song to Düsseldorf. It's a very catchy song.

7

David G

Visually half a Jedward, and musically the Monkees. One too many boy bands? Do like the song though...

6

Jose

A fresh concept, different of the regular ESC song. Good Denmark you keep doing good music

7

Brian

Bland winner from a bland bunch of songs. Not unpleasant but just doesn't get going for me

4

Samantha

Very cute, and very uplifting, but Denmark and Romania are going up against each other in the same half of the same semifinal with similar songs...will that work against them both?

6

Andrew C

A certain ''I’m in doors' is very excited about this one and I have to say I do see end credits every time I listen to it. It's a very standard euro number with an almost Queen like anthemic feel. Denmark will maintain their form and it may be back in Copenhagen next year.

Happy-go-lucky and uplifting song. Very well constructed and really good singer too. I only hope they can do a little bit more with the performance to make it more visually appealing. I can see people will love this in the Euroclub.

8

David A

Nostalgia ain’t what it used to be. This seems to be a strange hybrid that ends up sounding like a show tune from some second rate musical. It does clip along nicely but after two minutes I just became bored with the repetitiveness of it all. I can’t see it qualifying.

2

Elias

Romania decided to participate this year with a Scandinavian kind of song.  The song make you feel immediately that you've heard it before. It reminds me strongly ''Take me to your heaven'' and generally the song has its base on Abba's music.  The group Hotel FM although its very professional and the singer has a very strong voice.  Definitely in the final

 6

Monty

I can’t work out whether this is very modern or very old fashioned, though it sounds like it should be from Denmark. I can see this having a lot of appeal though personally I find it incredibly annoying, and can imagine this wearing very thin by the time we get to Düsseldorf.

2

Paul

Well, this reminds me at a entry Denmark used to send lately: some kind of soft pop/rock sound sung by a male singer. Seems like there's an audience for such songs, its radio friendly and it was probably the most decent entry out of a weak Romanian national final. On the other hand, I am not sure about its chances, it is not really anything new, there is no original performance. Its chances to qualify may depend on the strength of its competitors but if we see a strong semi, Romania won't make it to the final this time. I expected a little bit more after last years powerful entry "Playing with fire" - this clearly lacks "fire".

6

Dean

This sounds like it could have been in a UK "Song For Europe" in the early 90s.  Not bad, quite catchy but sounds a tad dated.  Unlikely to achieve the 3rd place Romania scored in 2010.

6

Samuel

Nice, catchy and elegant. As most of Romanian entries, good chances for a top.

8

Gary S

I’m taken back to the 80s or 90s with this …  to the UK finals of those times, where it would cause some toe-tapping but not win. The strange thing is, I can’t stop playing it, so it has awoken something in me! Nostalgia maybe… Nicely sung and a song to make you smile…

8

Pia

Catchy but a bit lame, not too bad but not too great.

 6

Gary P

By far the best of the 3 songs so far chosen. Really catchy and I think looks good too...

8

Mark

Oh my god! We actually after three attempts have a half decent song! Catchy and fun will probably make it to the final. I hope so anyway

6

David B

A simple, catchy and somewhat familiar sound from Romania this year. Although the song is somewhat dated, the straightforward nature of both the tune and the presentation could work to its advantage. At this ridiculously early stage, I'll stick my neck out and predict a place in the final for Hotel FM.

7

Roberto

A good song. It has a certain charm and, probably, will place well in the German Grand Prix. A "happy march", a come-sing-with-me style,  it could remember a theme from a Musical or a song from a Scandinavian music show, but with no pretensions.

 6

Martin H

Nice opening and nice build into the main song. catches the memory and at least the guy can sing live. Nice for an eastern European country to try stretching its borders.

 8

Axel

A Nice song that I think can go really good in this competition.

8

Nico

Doesn't really sound like it's from Romania does it? Or even from anywhere close by for that matter. Starts off nicely, but then the chorus is rather uninspired. I'd wager this is more likely to become more irritating than grow on me as I seemed to like less on second hearing. Nice that the UK already has their first singer in the contest though.

 4

Ryan

Oh My God ! I just can't believe that Romania chose my kind of song. His vocals are quite good and it really suits the song. I must say that it is quite a simple entry which might have the probability of getting into the top 10 ! The melody is soooo catchy that after a while you can already start singing to it. Such a nice song, yet again  !

9

Eddie

I like this song. Nice, pleasant, easy going, toe taping. The lead singer is good and very watchable. Two guys behind him are distracting. Reminds me of Danish entries from a few years ago. Should qualify but no top 5 this year.

8

Dmitry

What can I say about the Romanian song? Very interesting.
Fun, energetic. This song may well compete for the finals of Eurovision, and a worthy place in the final.

10

Danny

A rather MOR song performed pretty well by a band with a British member! It's not bad but distinctively average and not sure it will be strong enough to qualify. I'll reserve judgement on that for the moment.

5

Adri

For my taste, Romanian song is OK, only OK, it's not better than the other ones, maybe for me i like more ''In Love For A While'', but this song it's not bad. Possibly we will see Romania in the final, but not at the top 10 (I think).

5

Andrew B

Like a cross between Keep on Walking and Hope and Glory, this would be perfect for Melodifestivalen, and it should certainly appeal to the Scandi voter.  I really didn’t like the Romanian entry last year, and it
did very well, so by that yardstick this should win by a mile. Though
it won't, not unless it is a really bad year.

6

Morten

The lyrics are toe-curling but the song has a decent and cheerful melody and the lead singer sells it well. I'm not wow'ed but it’s ok. I suspect that it'll grow on me, especially on a bigger and brighter stage.

Douwe

Fun, positive, uplifting, easy on the ear, easy on the eye ... nothing bad about it and it will send Romania sailing into the final once again with ease and yet there is something missing ... maybe that something is Claudia Pavel who had for me the best song in the selection ... Can't see 'Change' bettering Romania's best result to date of two 3rd places.

 6

Roy

What a lovely song, great lyrics in English, well performed. A middle of the road song that will appeal to many countries.

8

Tom

Romania seem to have a thing about white pianos. Aside of that this is a catchy, if not brilliant song, it won't change the world (ironically) but it has a nice Take That vibe, and is a bit of a grower. Whether or not that is a good thing remains to be seen, but the singer is the best thing to come out of Darlington since, um, me :)

8

Daniel

A rhythmic song with full support from the audience and the jury, which probably will get a good position in the final.

David G

Opening bars remind me of Queen, “It’s a kind of magic”.  It might be a bit Summertime Special but with those dimples and horn, what’s not to love!

8

Jose

I find this song appealing, with a good melody and a good lyrics. However due to the high on stage performance in 2010, I find little possibilities that this song can repeat the success of Playing with fire.

7

Brian

This wasn't my choice to be Romania's entry but it has grown on me quickly. Very catchy tune that sticks in your head and I think people will like it. This will be in the final.

Samantha

Sweet, happy, peppy...positive message...cute lead singer...are you sure this song isn't Danish?  A decent song, but it feels a bit dated for my tastes.

4

Andrew C

Slightly old fashioned up tempo foot-tapper that hits the spot for me. About time Romania had a win after so many strong performances but can't quite see this being the one.

Nadine has a great voice but the song doesn’t quite get to me. Perhaps it’s because it’s somewhat clichéd and we have heard this a million times before. I wish them well on their return though.

5

David A

Rather underwhelming although it was the best of a poor national final. The backing vocals need to come in earlier as her voice sounds odd on its own. A tad show tune like and it will depend on the juries if this goes through as I can’t imagine many reaching for a ‘phone.

3

Elias

After the first 20 songs are chosen  we clearly see that this is not a year of many ballads, that’s why i believe Nadine have a chance to past to the final and keep Austrians to the competition next year also (because they will not cry and blame for injustice).  Nadine's voice is amazing, she is also very cute but her song has this American feeling that never make it in Eurovision.  I think the voice will win the votes and not the song.

6

Monty

The much heralded return of Austria. I’ve never quite forgiven them for Y Asi, although when Oida Taunz was tipped for victory I got very excited about their comeback. Sadly I can only assume this was the result of a backlash against the Trackshittaz, and ironically, to me, it’s one **** track.

1

Paul

Another big ballad from this years ESC, Nadine performed it well and seems to have a good, strong voice. The song itself sounds like an old Whitney Houston reject but is nevertheless one of the better ballads this year. I like how the song gets stronger after a rather weak and slow start – it nicely builds up. I think Austria has chances to qualify this year. Some even say this is winning material but I am not so sure.

7

Dean

Another excellent singer with an entry that doesn't quite match the performer's abilities.  This song meanders around too much for me, and I'm just not keen on the chorus.  It's powerfully constructed, but leaves me feeling lukewarm.

4

Samuel

Austria comes back in a big way!! Well done!!

8

Gary S

A very powerful voice and a nicely constructed song. The shake in her voice is a little irritating though. This could do very well with the ballad hunters out there.  I think she could blow my socks off in May… and it would be great to see Austria up there again for the first time in ages… So glad it wasn’t any of those grubby rockers.

8

Pia

Quite good powerballade, good singer

8

Gary P

Good Choice Austria - although I would worry about the opening with no backing and the slightly tremulous vocals at the start. However the sound is great with the backing. welcome back Vienna

7

Mark

Well I think we may have a winner, Fabulous song and excellent singer, Its going to take a superb song to beat this one. A good draw in the final for this song and it is all over!

10

David B

After coming to terms with her horrible frightwig, there's not a great deal left. This is an overblown, 1990s Mariah reject. However, the saving grace is Nadine's vocal which could easily propel a pleasant if ordinary song into the final.

7

Roberto

Austria will send a passioned and velvety ballad. But this is not the same old ballad. Nadine is talented and the song is very pleasant. I really hope to see her in the final.

7

Martin H

takes too long to get going very good and varied nice voice talented performer of a weak song

4

Axel

I think this is quite good. And I think this will grow and be better and better each time you hear it.

6

Nico

Tough choice in Austria between the top two I liked them both equally. This builds really nicely especially when the backing vocals kick in. Great voice, if she can learn to make it less shouty and stage it better, this could do really well. Either of the top two in Austria would have got the same mark from me.

8

Ryan

Another boring song. I must say this is better than Lithuania but this won't even get 25points as I can see in my eyes... Her voice is amazing though ... At times its quite shaky but maybe it's cause of the excitement.. We'll  wait and see....

5

Eddie

Wow, what a return! Amazing singer and a very good song. Juries will love this and the note at 1;55 will wake up televoters. I couldn’t stop smiling after hearing this. Well come back Austria

8

Dmitry

Austria this year will be a new country (back) in the ESC. But we still can not see it in the final. Song bright enough for high ratings.

3

Danny

Austria go all Disney on us with this rather sweet ballad performed with the youngster with a big voice. Rather like a more rousing version of Cyprus 2004, I think Austria should be pretty safe with this one.

8

Adri

very beautiful ballad for Austria, and i hope will qualify after years of absence and no qualification.

7

Andrew B

I am beginning to see this as a potential winner. Nadine has a superb voice and sells the song so well. The song itself is one of the best power ballads we have heard in Eurovision. I am not keen on the melody during the acapella at the beginning, and the end is  a mess, but this song has real potential.

9

Morten

I think the Austrian public voted for Nadine Beiler instead of "The secret is love". Nadine certainly has a great voice and she did very well on stage. But nonetheless I'm very bored with this dreary song. I can see why other people would find it beautiful but for me it's too slow and unoriginal. It makes me wanna take a nap.

3

Douwe

Welcome back Austria ! Wow ... what a return to the contest with this gorgeous, gospel tinted song beautifully performed by Nadine and what a voice she has been blessed with  ... not the easiest song to sing and not instantly accessible but surely this must give the alpine nation a wonderful chance of being called to perform on final's night and to potentially give them one of their best results for many a year.

9

Roy

I have been one of the people who bombarded Austrian TV to ask for their return as I love Austrian music and over 300 Austrian songs have been covered in Afrikaans. So I was very happy they are returning and although my favourite Petra Frey fell out quickly, this song is very good. The singer has a powerful voice and  towards the end it is sort of like an anthem to love. This could be the top song for the juries, but whether it will please the average TV watcher who likes something more

spectacular, remains the big question. But a great song on their return - in contrast to Italy.

8

Tom

In fact, this is the year of rock and ballads. This is pretty, and she has a nice voice but it's as cheesy as they come. Not very impressed right now, but  I'm looking forward to hearing the dance remix :)

5

Daniel

Austria comes back with a great song for Düsseldorf. Austria could get a very good place in Eurovision 2011. Congratulation for Austria!!

10

David G

The girl, the frock, the ballad, the key change, almost everything is there. A big screaming, shattering climax would finish it off nicely, but I’m a bit old-fashioned that way. Vienna next year?

10

Jose

I was shocked that Thea Garret didn’t made finals last years, this song is in the same style but it's very boring, I will be shocked if it made finals

5

Brian

Yes, my favourite so far. A good ballad, welcome back Austria, so glad that hideous Trackshittaz didn't win. Might make the final

9

Samantha

Nadine definitely sings well, but the ballad's a bit forgettable.

5

Andrew C

When I saw the 3 that were left I was sure we'd have lederhosen on stage but my fears were abated when the Austrian voters chose the right song. Another one that could get lost in all  the noise but it does build nicely. Again well done to Austria for coming back with something a bit different to their previous attempts.

I could never really listen to this song until the end. It’s more for ESC junior, simplistic, repetitive and unoriginal. Having said that, the performance is very effective and I’m sure they’ll make the most of what they have. Just about tolerable but deeply unsatisfying.

5

David A

“I will be popular”. No you won’t. It’s awful. Just the same tuneless rant repeated ad nauseam. Obviously Sweden has decided to join in this year’s popular game of entering the least appealing and most badly sung song from their national final. I can image the Scandinavian outcry when this drivel fails to make the final.

1

Elias

Amazing choreography.  Eric's revenge after last years disappointment.  He is a real pop performer, unbelievably good dancer with sense of style, very modern and with a powerful voice.  Stage gimmicks are perfect and the whole outcome is fantastic even if the song is not something new.  The only problem will be how they will divide the 5 people accompanying Eric on stage between dancers and vocal performers.  The power of many dancers will disappear but he is so professional and I believe he will cover everything.  For me one of the few songs which will fight for the victory

9

Monty

It’s difficult to argue when a song has won the backing of both a jury and the public, and there’s no doubting Eric is indeed Popular. But is there anybody who’s not a bit bored with this yet?

4

Paul

A very predictable MF winner - much show and little substance. Eric isn't actually the best singer with amazing vocal skills either. This song will be hyped by schlager fans for sure but I don't see it as a winning entry. First of all because  similar up-tempo songs, like the Russian entry, will take away points from it, secondly because I think televoters and jury members will even more appreciate real singers and songs with a substance after listening (or watching, as the song itself barely exists) after this entry.

2

Dean

I quite like this, and compared to many of this year's entries it is very good.  It's just a little predictable.  I suspect Sweden wanted to play it safe after last year's disappointment.  It should get them into the Final, and the glass smashing is particularly memorable, but I don't see it as a winner.

7

Samuel

One of the best of 2011. 100% Swede, and that's what we like

10

Gary S

Much ado about nothing. Well done Sweden – great final. But I fear you are sending a manboy to do a man’s job. The song sounds far too generic – almost like a repetitive nursery rhyme given a very heavy beat and OTT production. I admit that its a very impressive show, but it totally lacks substance. This is an over-rated song for me - a boy’s version of ‘Hero’ .. sorry Sweden, time for something new. I’m sure I’ll enjoy it come May, but recent results show this type of thing may be passed its sell by date. I’m off to the CLUB with MONIKER for a far better time – disappointed.

3

Pia

WOW! What a performance !! Sweden is back where they belong !!!

10

Gary P

Not my fave in the contest and clearly not with the international juries in Sweden either (how odd was that). So I don’t see this getting a high placing and who knows, Sweden may not escape the semi final again

6

Mark

Fabulous! Fabulous! Fabulous! I absolutely love this song! Not sure it will win, but will be a massive hit in the clubs across Europe

9

David B

Popular? This year's Immensely Slappable Performer Award goes to Eric. Sweden's entry is a dull, turgid, repetitive effort. No amount of on-stage breaking glass can make up for the blandness of the music. More importantly, how will this sound in Düsseldorf without the extensive pre-recorded backing vocals?

3

Roberto

This is a potential winning song. It has everything: it's catchy, it's powerful, it's pleasant, it's involving, it's brilliantly constructed,  with a very good stage performance too. You can't succeed in being quiet on your chair...  you must listen to it, feel it, follow it, and even dance to it. Fantastic. Heja Sverige !

10

Martin H

Has great stage presence and can carry a song and full performance

8

Axel

Finally, For the first time since 2006 Sweden sends the right song. This can't be much better than this. I love Eric Saade. And Popular is absolutely fantastic.

10

Nico

Really sorry, but this is not popular with me. In fact it was one of my least favourite songs from the whole MF.  Repetitive in a very grating way. Popular? No, just hideous.  They are fortunate to be in the second semi where they stand a chance of qualifying, but I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't. Ah if only they had sent Loreen *sigh* To end on a positive note though, he performs it excellently and at least he is soft on the eye.

1

Ryan

The best and my favourite :))) my new favourite.. Everything is perfect with this song especially the whole staging performance... Go Sweden .. 12points from Malta !

10

Eddie

Åh Sverige, the home of perfect pop. Having been in Sholm for the final, I do agree that Sweden has sent one of the best performers. He is an attractive man(boy) who can dance very well. His voice isn't all that and the major problem is the song. It's modern schlager by numbers. Maybe he will be Popular but I don't see the winning elements.

7

Dmitry

Such a powerful song! Must win! Let's do it, Eric! =) I will be popular... I will be popular....

10

Danny

A pretty standard run of the mill pop song we have here, but it is rather catchy and performed much better than Ireland which is in a similar vein. He's not bad looking either so could get the young girls votes. I did however think Manboy was better..

6

Adri

I like so much this song, well done SWEDEN !!!! You will reach the top 10 i think

9

Andrew B

Eric is obviously very Popular in Sweden, but I wonder if he will be quite so popular in Eurovision. The composers of the song evidently want it to have broad popular appeal, and if it doesn't they are
hoping that by constantly repeating the title of the song - Popular - will have a subliminal effect on the jury and the popular vote. It
certainly appeared to work on Saturday as the international juries
agreed with the public vote. Sorry? Oh, you were wondering what I think of the song? The worst Swedish entry since 1997.

2

Morten

I can see why a lot of people love this but to me "Popular" is just a mediocre song wrapped into a forced and overdone performance.  Eric Saade is having a hard time reaching the high notes while he's dancing around with guys dressed in leather and end up smashing walls of glass; it seems that the Swedes are trying to hide a poorly made  melody behind a big performance. The lyrics are awful and why on earth should the pretty looking and idolized Saade have problems with popularity? It's all so fake and the song isn't even dance-friendly unlees you off course have a choreograher!  So dear Sweden - entertainment is good but I would prefer a better song.

4

Douwe

Well yes ... 'Popular' is something he certainly is ... This was perhaps not my favourite in Sverige’s selection this year but was the best option if they want to return to the final in May ... It's totally in your face with absolutely no subtlety and in stark contrast with their entry last year ...  With such a performance this should easily reach a position in the top 10 - Really loved the excitement of the voting in the Melodifestivalen final and either of the top 2 would have been a worthy winner

8

Roy

I want to quote a song by Agnetha of Sweden, "the heat is on". By picking POPULAR, Sweden has really turned on the heat in this Eurovision and will have a head to head battle with Russia (both good looking male singers, good voices, good songs, the same kind of backing singers, Nordic pop songs in English). Who will win? And is the winner coming from these two? I do not think so, they will sure steal votes from one another in the final. This is surely the most "popular" choice and with a title like that, it cannot be anything  else but popular.  Personally I think this is going to be an exciting Eurovision to a variety of battles and the outcome could be a cliffhanger.

8

Tom

You can call him Manboy, I don't care! Popular (and indeed Eric himself) define love it or hate it, and I'm firmly in the latter camp. Some say it will be Sweden's return to the top, but I REALLY don't see it...

3

Daniel

Sweden was disappointed in Oslo because the flop of Anna, but this year Sweden sends one of the best options for Düsseldorf. Is a great song that will have a big succeed, it could be the winner of this year. I will be popular...

10

David G

Great performance(is he the little *** that’s been doing the bus stop near me?). But this is so old-fashioned. If last year’s couldn’t make the final, can this really do any better?

7

Jose

Ok the guy can break the heart of some teenagers, it's a regular pop song with a nice on-stage show what else? Sweden is a real powerhouse in Eurovision and one can expect more than this, but is much better than 2010

6

Brian

This was my favourite in the Swedish final but not as good as his entry last year. This must be in with a chance of doing well, good looking guy with a good performance, dancing and singing

8

Samantha

I think Sweden's back on the right track after a few rough years, and Eric is absolutely adorable (and will likely have more than a few thirteen-year-old girls texting their little fingers to the bone for him), but this one just isn't my taste.  The song's very entertaining, but the lyrics feel a bit too juvenile for me.  7 for entertainment, 3 for song, making this one...

5

Andrew C

Scrub Copenhagen it might yet be Stockholm 2012. Why can't all finals be like Melodifestivalen? Great songs, great presentation and a winner that will make an impact - if only to profits of glaziers in D'dorf. Very instant and well performed. Let's hope they aren't robbed of a place in the final like last year.

We haven’t seen Slovakia in a Eurovision final for almost as long as Italy. They’ve given themselves a good chance with a contemporary pop song and two attractive and seemingly good singers. Slight concern is that it sounds a bit like No Angels’ song, which didn’t fare well at all.

7

David A

This is radio friendly and sounds very professional and could be from the album many a generic singer doing the rounds at the moment. It is an easy but pleasant song which I think may appeal to many although I've yet to see a live performance which will be a decider. It's not really my type of music but I hope it does well and finally gets Slovakia out of the semis.

7

Elias

Nothing original or new from Slovakia except from the duet of twins singing the song.  Even in that this year we will have two twins participating.  It's an ok song with two beautiful singers that we didn’t hear their voice alive yet to know their singing power.  Difficult to see Slovakia passing to the final....

5

Monty

So Slovakian TV decided to steal the thunders of both their Miss Universe winner and their Eurovision entrant by showing both off at the same moment? Is there really that much going on in Slovakia that they have to combine the two? Sadly that’s the most interesting thing about the song, which is mind-numbingly dull.

2

Paul

Another country sending twins at this years ESC – hopefully a duo with serious vocal skills this time. The song itself doesn’t sound like anything new and original, it is a very typical slow  R&B song in the US style, like something from one of the Highschool Musical soundtracks. It is difficult to predict Slovak result without knowing the live performance. Performing in the second semi could be an advantage and give them a Belarus 2010 result, with a convincing performance.

6

Dean

At last a half decent song.  For some reason I had expected this to be more upbeat than it is, but I still really like it.  A good, modern pop song that doesn't sound naff (don't get me wrong, I quite like naff now and then...) A qualifier, I hope!

7

Samuel

Good song, but not a winner

5

Gary S

I’m liking this but can’t help feeling it sounds very very American. It brings back ‘Drip Drop’ memories for me, which is not such a good thing. I would like to see SK qualify for the final though and all told, it’s a good enough song to do so – if their live vocals can hit the right notes on the night. It needs a bit of variation though.. a bit samey as it goes on.

7

Pia

Boring, slow, are they sure they're alive?

5

Gary P

A really good entry and there I was thinking Slovakia didn't want to come along to the party. A really good song and sounds good.

7

Mark

This song is pleasant but I am afraid for me it doesn't really go anywhere. It is much better than the other set of twins in the contest, but that is not something to be proud of!

5

David B

This, for me, is one of the safest songs of the year. It ploughs a straight furrow through the world of bland, anthemic pop and does so relatively well. The style of music is anodyne in an American way and an inoffensive presentation may even be enough to propel Slovakia to the final. Pleasant enough for Ken Bruce to play on his mid-morning Radio 2 show  . . .

6

Roberto

They are famous in their Homeland 'cos they used to be background singers and  dancers too. The song is not so bad, but  younger ears could appreciate it more. Radio-friendly stuff, it wants to be charming, but it risks to be only a tracing of established acts.

5

Martin H

good powerful start and nice build good harmony if they can navigate the semi this is a good top 10

7

Axel

This is a quite good song! But something tells me that this is not going to get through to the final this year!

6

Nico

It's a Britney Spears album track isn't it? Nice enough, but needs a major reboot if it is to have any impact live. Glad you came to the party in the end Slovakia, but next time don't forget to bring a bottle!

4

Ryan

AMAZING song :)) The vocals are ok but the song is amazing. Its as good as Safura's Drip Drop. Actually it kinda looks alike except the fact that these are two cute twins singing together which I must say, The duet is well-done ..

7

Eddie

If they can sing live as well as the recorded version, we have a top 10 place for Slovakia. Great song, great look. Well done Slovakia.

8

Dmitry

Simply- cute girls and good song. It can be in final. But not high place - "standard good song". Absolute.

7

Danny

Slovakia send what's definitely their most contemporary song so far. I could see this being sung by many of today's artists. I'm not sure it's really memorable enough to make an impact on the stage though.

8

Adri

Love this song, sure, in the final.

9

Andrew B

This song sounds fabulous for about a minute, but it is basically the same four lines repeated over and over again for three minutes. It misses a middle eight, it doesn't build, and if ever a song needed a key change, this is it. Vocally and in terms of production this is indistinguishable from millions of American girl songs around at the moment. For this year's Eurovision its a breath of fresh air. With a little more variety to it, this could have been the song to beat.

8

Morten

It's hard to predict Slovakia's chances as long as we haven't seen TWiiNS live on stage. "I'm still alive" is a sweet and contemporary song but I think it'll do better on the radio than on stage in Düsseldorf. I'm afraid the song won't attract a lot of attention. It's has a nice and pleasant melody but it lacks any element of surprise and wauw-feeling.

6

Douwe

The most contemporary song that Slovakia has thus far sent to the Eurovision and great to have them in Düsseldorf after all of the yes, no, yes, no's regarding their participation. Very clear to hear the American influence here which is in marked contrast with their entry last year ... The girls look great, hopefully they can nail it 'live' and with a bit of luck this might just scrape into the final but a winner it isn't ...

7

Roy

I had a feeling from day one that Slovakia would get their best position this year once they announced that TWiiNS will sing for them. This song is typical of swedish melodifestival sound and with two good looking girls (and identical) singing the song, it is sure to do well. Hopefully both set of twins will be in the final to make history. The song is fairly universal in sound and so it will get votes from a wider audience than Slovakia normally gets their votes. We may even be surprised and find one set of 12 points from some country.

7

Tom

When I heard the act name, I had nightmares of a female Jedward. Having heard the song, which sounds something like a 90s girl band album track, I still had those nightmares. Until we have a proper (not mimed) live performance, it's impossible to tell how much potential it has. Probably a good radio song though...

7

Daniel

I like the song of Slovakia, maybe the song needs a better chorus, but despite that, i like this song

8

David G

A level of style and sophistication that only Katie Price could envy, and voices to match. I quite like the song, will it linger on the brain like Drip Drop?

8

Jose

This kind of songs aren't very popular in Eurovision; it comes to my mind No Angels and Tereza Kerndlova. Personally I love this romantic style and wish all the best to TWiiNS. If they have a good live performance I think they can return Slovakia to finals.

10

Brian

If this doesn't make the final then I just don't know what Slovakia have to do. One of my favourites, I like the whole style of this song I just hope the girls can sing live. Will look forward to seeing this on stage.

9

Samantha

The song is pretty (as are the TWiiNS themselves), but that's about it.  It gets quite repetitive, and ends up somewhat boring by the second or third time you hear it.  Not as imaginative as "Horehronie" last year, but the girls seem like they're less likely to be as nervous on stage as Kristina was.  This surpasses my expectations, considering it was an internal selection by a country that may or may not have wanted to participate in the first place, but it's not in my top half.

4

Andrew C

Twins? I wonder which supermarket they work for in Bratislava. Song is a bit dull, but they do have the novelty factor

Dino Merlin’s song presentation was one that made for uncomfortable viewing, looking very old - though apparently only 48 – and jumping around as a teenager, pretending to sing and play the guitar when he was doing neither. Not particularly good at miming either or was it the webcast? The song is instantly forgettable – despite the cheap uoh uoh -  and I’m afraid it’s hard to find any redeeming qualities; just simply not good enough. I do not understand the choice of English either. No matter how well respected Merlin is in the Balkans, this should stay in the semi.

4

David A

I so wanted to like this and was even prepared to ignore the idiotic fake yodeling and woo-woos’. There is actually a very good and interesting song getting lost under all the cavorting around and atrocious presentation. Hopefully when Düsseldorf comes round they will realise they need to play it straight or this may not qualify.

5

Elias

Yes .. it was time for my first 10.  I adore the music of Dino Merlin and i find him one of the biggest artist in Europe.  ''Love in rewind'' is a beautiful song, addictive full of melody, rhythm and pure passion.  The stage presentation in Sarajevo was amazing, great backing musicians and vocalists, perfect clothing and the appropriate uplifting mood.  The only thing that i will change is to remove from Dino the guitar after the first minute of the song and to decrease his movements.  I'm not sure yet until i hear the song in Bosnian if i would prefer it in English or not.  Good Luck Bosnia.... hope it will be in Sarajevo 2012!!!

10

Monty

I didn’t know what to make of this on first hearing: never a good thing for a Eurovision song. Subsequently I’m finding it goes nowhere very quickly and the performance is frankly laughable.

2

Paul

Something unexpected by Dino - a very happy song with a nice melody which is catchy and touching the same time. Plus he clearly enjoys what he's doing which is some kind of extra bonus and usually well received by the public and jury. The first real entertainer of this years ESC - so if nothing goes wrong, this should make it to the final for sure. It may be too early to say anything about his chances there but why shouldn't there be another Olsen deja vu ?

10

Dean

This is more like it!  It's a bit hard to work out what Dino is singing but it's a great song - melodic, fun, catchy and deserves to very well.  Fabulous!

9

Samuel

Something special in this song ... but not a winner

4

Gary S

I did not expect this.. some retro Eurovision beats with an eastern edge, a mariachi trumpet moment and a really great feel. This pulls you in and keeps you hooked… The test will be the huge live ESC stage… but look out for Bosnia this year!

9

Pia

Hm hm hm, it´s the same from start to end, good rythm but boring , maybe better an stage ???

6

Gary P

This is a nice attempt to bring together a load of different styles in one song - I assume in the hope that if you only listen to 30 seconds you might like a part of it. I do think it is a song that grows on you - the problem for Bosnia and Herzegovina is that not everyone will hear it so many times,..

6

Mark

I found the whole performance thing a bit bizarre, as clearly no one as actually playing an instrument. Strangely though I really liked this song! probably one of my favourites so far

8

David B

All credit to Dino for channeling the spirit of Eurovision past. This is a foot-tapping Eurobanger of the highest order, tinged with a country & western flavour in parts. The staging seems a little over-the-top but I reckon the arena will be clapping along to this on the big night. Dino, thank you for rescuing what was fast turning into the bleakest song contest for years!

9

Roberto

This singer is very known and popular. The song is very pleasant, harmonious, rather folk, radio-friendly. A very happy-go-lucky and theatrical performance, a bit excessive, but overall appreciable. The only risk is that "the name" of the artist (and his popularity) can overcome the song itself.

7

Martin H

very hard going is this Bosnia on pills or am i really missing something this year

1

Axel

I like Dino a lot. But this song isn't the best this year! But Dino is very professional

6

Nico

I really want to like this more than I do. There's something quite charming about the melody especially the build up of the verse. There are lots of great elements to the song, but somehow the total is less than the sum of its parts. I can't really put my finger on why. Maybe the lyrics are just not quite right, maybe it would have been better in Bosniak, but I think it's mainly the disappointing line of the title of the song which somehow falls flat when it's sung and brings the song down. I want to give it more, but it's not quite a 6.

5

Ryan

I kinda love it. He looks old though ... Sounds so old-fashioned too... Melody got stuck in my mind. His vocals are not so good and I prefer the woman's voice. Chorus is catchy.. Poppy Poppy.

6

Eddie

Wow, I really like this. Just something nice about it. Nice driving rhythm.
I guess my only point is I know he's a great singer but he doesn't fit the song.
They also need to work on the presentation.

6

Dmitry

This is very similar to a Swedish song on ESC-2010. It's just a song, and I do not think it can go to the final.

3

Danny

One of my least favourite Eurovision countries doesn't do anything to help it's case with this song, which I'm sure is going to be one of the favourites amongst the fans, but does absolutely nothing for me. Not the worst by far, but indifference is almost worse than hate!

4

Adri

it's a really good song, for me the best of Bosnia in 4 years.

7

Andrew B

This is trying hard to be quirky and is ending up looking plain silly. Shame, really, as it is one of the better songs this year. Dino needs to forget the dancing and leave it to the backing group and instead concentrate on his accent. I think it is another year in the final for Bosnia, but top ten will be a bit of an ask.

6

Morten

"Love in rewind" is a jolly little song, but quite repetitive. Dino Merlin should really consider to sing in Bosnian; his English pronunciation is hard for me to understand and it makes the song sound a bit amateurish. He's a charming performer but I don't that think the song will make an impact on a lot of people outside the Balkans.

5

Douwe

We're getting there slowly with this song ... possibly the closest to a winner yet ... Nice Hallelujah-esque intro ... Good to see that Dino hasn't forgotten some of his dance steps from 1999 ... and this is jolly and rousing with something there for everyone. Bosnia have done it once again - another strong entry that will sail into the final and hopefully score a lot of points.

9

Roy

Beautiful voice, I like it a lot, also the song has great lyrics and good potential but a few things are not right - I think the singer is too old to jump around like a teenager, so I would like a more quiet performance in Eurovision. He reminds me of one of the two from Rock and roll kinds (looks-wise). For some reason

I also find that the stage is too busy, it takes your attention away from the song. If you hear it just without seeing, it is a very radio friendly song.

8

Tom

I loved Putnici, despite not knowing the background to it, and along with 2008 it's my favourite Bosnian entry. Happily this song is a blend of the two with a hint of Lejla. Despite the Live Is Life beat and silly routine, with a polish this is a deserved contender

9

Daniel

This is a fresh song from a great singer that will Bosnia & Herzegovina succeed in Düsseldorf

6

David G

What crazy fun they are having. Crazy clothes, crazy hair, crazy peoples. What fun. (Shame about missing the final).

3

Jose

A good song. I see Dino Merlin in top 10 of the final. He is a very good performer, and his lyrics are different, very refreshing

8

Brian

When I first heard that Dino was singing for B-H,  I groaned. Now I'm happy to admit I was wrong. I loved this song on the first play it's really cheerful with a lot of different parts to it. Just hope that he doesn't dance like he's doing on the TV show, he looks ridiculous, just stand at the microphone Dino!!

9

Samantha

Playful, childlike at times, but heartbreakingly beautiful.  I was confused by the choreography at first, but the more I got into the lyrics, the more it made sense.  Stunning.  Bravo!

10

Andrew C

Another ethnic song with a mystical, relaxing feel. Hasn't got the impact of Lejla and very much of the Balkan formula (which is sadly lacking elsewhere this year). Still very very pretty and should collect lots of points

I love the retro sound of this which is also quite modern in a seemingly contradictory way. Very fresh, instantly likeable and full of good vibes. Thumbs up from me.

8

David A

A surprise winner, I thought they would go with the usual Balkan ballad. This is interesting in the retro way it is hoping to be. I like the energy and enjoyed it while it lasted but I think it is instantly forgettable. She sings well which should help.

5

Elias

Outdated and old fashion.  Serbia started very powerfully before some years and recently year by year is becoming so mediocre.  Nina on the other hand is a charismatic performer and even if she is new and without huge experience she seemed really relaxed and joyful on stage.

5

Monty

This is so hard to judge! The 60s blend together with the 70s for a ultra chic 00s contemporary look, yet the tune screams 80s Yugoslavia at me. The result? Well, I kinda like it!

8

Paul

This is a difficult case: Serbia seems to make no real mistake by sending this one: a good singer with a happy, easy listening 60s retro song in their native language. But still something seems missing and wrong. Maybe it is one of this „good to have it but why vote it“ entries. I simply don't see the audience for this....so it could be difficult for Serbia to qualify from the tough first semi this year.

6

Dean

Oh very retro, and very unlike anything Serbia has ever sent.  Fantastic singer, polished performance.  It's not really my kind of thing, but this looks set to do well.

6

Samuel

Is this 2011?? Good luck, you'll need it!

4

Gary S

Great surprise from Serbia! Upbeat, stylish, fresh and cheery… It sounds vaguely familiar, but it’s well performed and I’m liking the retro look and feel.

8

Pia

More retro , too much retro , no no no

6

Gary P

You wait for some really good songs and along came 2 on the same night (first Denmark and now Serbia). I love this - so different to any other songs so far put forward for the Eurovision crown and I love this

10

Mark

Sometimes a sixties feel is good, but not in this case, I really don't want to hear this song again if possible!

2

David B

Swing Out Serbia! It's a return to the late 80s for me and this Swing Out Sister inspired slice of summer fun. I'm loving both the performance & the song. Could this be the one to beat?

10

Roberto

Very good upbeat. I like this old fashioned sound, very 60's, funny and pleasant. Чаробан means "magical" and that's the way it goes, indeed. A good entry for Serbia : the right song to involve and to have a good time.  I do hope that it will go to the final.

8

Martin H

nice melody and runs along nicely well preformed but on a good also ran

3

Axel

OK. I don't know if I like this or not. Maybe it will grow. But right now this isn't the best song.

5

Nico

It's not often I advocate a language change from one as beautiful as Serbian, but this would certainly be magical in English, it would just suit the song that much more, just as the Croatian entry is a totally different beast in English. And I just love this girl too; she's totally cool and oozing with charm.

7

Ryan

Back to square one... Bed time ppl :P!... This isn't the kind of song that makes you sleep but is the kind of song between the TV time and sleeping :P Haha .. Her voice is ok

1

Eddie

Let’s go to the sixties with Serbia. Great sounding song and really love the performance. It’s something cool and different which isn’t Balkan. I really like it – nice Sunday afternoon song.

7

Dmitry

This is interesting performance, but it should not be in the final. Only  semifinal.

4

Danny

This has a really nice 60s summery vibe to it, and the first time I heard it, it made me smile. Should have no problem sailing into the final!

9

Adri

in the semifinal for 2nd year? i don't like the song at first, but it's interesting.

4

Andrew B

Was not expecting anything like this, but this has shot to right into my top three songs. Great song, great singer and fantastic backing
singers. A superb retro song that could become the song of the summer, but will the Sebrian's bite the bullet and perform in English, which
is so needed for a song like this. If it wins, which I think it could do, there will be a certain singer in Finland who will be wondering whether she was eleven years too early.

10

Morten

Thank you, Serbia, for bringing the joy into ESC. "Caroban" may be old school and non-innovative but I can't help loving this wonderful and super-catchy song. Nina looks like a ray of sunshine and (unlike the entertaining Stella Mwangi) she can really sing. This song is all fun and the Serbian performers don't try to hide it. It's such a relief to see that there's still room for great happy-go-lucky entries in Eurovision. I'm one big smile!

10

Douwe

Well this is something totally different for Serbia ... a wonderful trip down Memory Lane and great fun too - Nina is clearly enjoying performing Caroban' and this comes across very clearly on screen. An overwhelming winner in their national final this will once again propel them into the final without a shadow of a doubt and deservedly so ...

7

Roy

Once again an improvement on last year, but only slightly. The singer has beautiful huge eyes, but the feel of the song was a bit dated. Maybe again a typical sound of Serbia but it is not my cup-a-tea. Again they sang in Serbian and

hopefully tons of language versions will follow - always a plus point.

5

Tom

Well this is not what I expected AT ALL. A funky, catchy song with a strong 60s vibe, right down to the staging. The singer reminds me of Duffy and though I can't see it doing a Molitva, it will doubtless be among my favourites come May.

9

Daniel

Serbia sends a different song for Düsseldorf, good option from this country, let's see if it pass to the final.

6

David G

I wonder how this will sound live, the version I’ve seen is mimed to a backing track of mega-backing singers. Potentially a screechy mess live!

3

Jose

The song itself is poor, however the performance and the personality of Nina are absolutely lovely, different to the coldness reflected by most of Serbian songs in the past

8

Brian

I love the whole retro style of this one. Nina has a great voice and I've played this several times already today

9

Samantha

An adorable 60's throwback song...I love it!  It's like no other song in this competition this year, and I mean that in a good way.  Very catchy, and Nina's perfectly suited for it

8

Andrew C

Hoorah, another up-tempo number from Serbia with a retro '70s feel. Easy listening but not likely to challenge for top position.

Very average song, pleasant enough and it can be a grower but at the moment I cannot see how this can stand out enough to make it to the final. Good move to remove the ridiculous “break a leg”!

5

David A

This is a perfectly adequate song that isn’t all that special. It is indeed a breeze rather than the hurricane it needs to be. The singer is pleasant as is the song but then pleasant never won the day so far. Rather bland overall.

4

Elias

I will never expected that Croatians will choose Daria over one of their more famous artist Jacque, even though the song selected didn't suit him at all.  Daria's performance reminds me of girls singing in an event of their college.  I cannot see her raising any attention in Düsseldorf.  The song is so similar to zillion others, plus in each years Melodifestivalen you can find 10 better (similar kind of ) songs than this. Very difficult to qualify.

6

Monty

Yet again this year I’m left wishing a mediocre song was a lot better. I’m not keen on the way the title is slotted into the chorus, although I keep hearing “be brazen every step you take” which frankly would be a far better lyric.

4

Paul

One of the better  (and rare) up-tempo songs of the ESC 2011. The song is not bad at all and rather catchy, the English translation from Lahore to “Break a leg” is kinda odd though. I won’t be a easy year for Croatia again: Daria has the look but not really the voice, while the opposite was true in case of her male competitor Jacques Houdek.  I think this will seriously struggle to qualify.

7

Dean

Oh fab - a pretty typical uptempo Eurovision song, and there aren't that many of those this year!  The lyrics look like they are going to be changed (good), and I hope the presentation is a bit slicker, but my favourite Croatian entry in ages!

8

Samuel

Not the best Croatian entry... by far

3

Gary S

Clichéd title and a formula dancefloor stomper, but maybe this could go down well in Ddorf… Not really the type of song that should win ESC in 2011, but I enjoyed the original and the first English version, despite not being a fan of processes that make choosing a singer more important than the song though. BUT - the rename has somehow cheapened the song to a generic party sound – not so good.

7

Pia

Casual europop. quite boring

6

Gary P

I do hope they don’t break a leg as it would be a pity if they didn't turn up! Not a bad song at all and given the number of poor entries they might sneak into the final

6

Mark

Love it! Fab song, fab singer. Could go all the way. It is about time Croatia won.

10

David B

A tune that I just can't get out of my head! This is a simple song, not particularly novel in any way but irritatingly catchy.

8

Roberto

"How you gonna drive through when the road is closed" ... Weak song, it seems forced to be catchy and pleasant, but it is repetitive and quite inconclusive, prompting only few emotions.  Too ordinary.

5

Martin H

Nice song good voices and a nice Greek driving beat to it but ditch the opening hide and seek and you have got a good possible

9

Axel

Not their best but not their worst either. A mediocre song.

3

Nico

In Croatian I wasn't too impressed with this and I thought Jacques Houdek sang (though not performed) it better. It does seem to be much better suited to English though. It's fairly jolly, but she is going to need to sell it a lot better to stand out from all the other poppy songs.

6

Ryan

A dance song which reminds me of Ooh Aah Just a Little Bit :P! I must say that they chose their best-est. Her voice is well tuned and fine in tone. The song is really good and catchy :)

7

Eddie

I'm surprised with this as well. I would expect this from Romania rather than Croatia. Great sound, love the singer. Stage performance could improve. Another floor filler.

8

Dmitry

I don't see any dynamic in song. So strange. Must be only in semi final. Club song

4

Danny

Apparently this is getting a complete overhaul with new English lyrics, which is a good thing as the current ones are a bit laughable, so on the tune alone, it's a pretty catchy dance-pop song sung by someone who looks a little like Celine Dion, but doesn't quite have her voice. Still sure to be a hit in Euro Club!

8

Adri

Very good song for Croatia ,after, Lako Je Sve, though, it's better, but Croatia will be in the final.

7

Andrew B

After an epic selection process, Croatia offers up this old-fashioned yet catchy piece of pop. The stage presentation needs tightening up but, overall, this is a decent enough entry and given the perceived low standard of many 2011 entries, this one might just find itself in the final.

7

Morten

She isn't the best singer and the song is just average pop. A surprisingly anonymous entry from Croatia. Not bad, not good but easily forgotten.

4

Douwe

Well well well ... who would have thought it - we get a dance track from Croatia ... The difference in her vocal performance between 'Lahor' and 'Break a leg' was remarkable or was the winning reprise play backed? ... Ok, so it's not the most earth shatteringly original song lyrically - and now that it has been changed to 'Celebrate' even less so but it is incredibly catchy and very clear that Daria is having a great time performing it with the audience on their feet ... This is a borderline qualifier for the final and will be a huge favourite in the Euroclub.

7

Roy

Being unable to follow the various selections, I have no idea of the songs the winners had competed against. I think the singer to have a strong voice. I listened to both the Croatian and the English and I prefer the English version. This is strong and in the tradition of

strong female voices from Croatia and I think this song could go far if the performance is good in Düsseldorf

7

Tom

As a fan of Colonia and larger men, I was rooting for Jacques Houdek to win this selection, but Daria isn't bad! She looks good, her vocals are decent and the song is danceable and modern, even if it reminds me somewhat of Slovenia 2007. A dark horse I feel.

9

Daniel

Croatia sends a potential song to Düsseldorf, however it needs some changes.

5

David G

Didn’t Belgium enter this a couple of years ago? Shut that door? Italio-disco retro-fest for sure, but what were the lesbians doing under the table?

7

Jose

Daria is a very respectful choice. The vocal talent of this woman has no place to doubt. The song is good, may be is time to see Croatia to reach high levels like with Doris Dragovic.

8

Brian

I like this one. I was shocked that she actually won, thought Jacques Houdek was a cert to go through for Croatia. Haven't liked many of their recent songs but I like this

8

Samantha

The Croatian version wasn't bad, but the English?  Ehhhh...the "Break a Leg" idiom won't translate as well to everybody, and by switching the language and choosing the "pretty girl" over the "talented, but not as traditionally dreamy" guy, the song loses a lot of what could have made it special.  Croatia used to be one of my favourite ESC nations, but I was disappointed by this one.

3

Andrew C

I was sure it was called Breakaway but just sounded like Break a Leg... Glad it has been rewritten and 'remastered'.  Happy throwaway song .What's not to like?

Excellent return for Italy. Clearly a jazzy song won’t be everyone’s cup of tea in the euroworld but the quality is undeniable. The lack of orchestra won’t help but I think this will go down well with juries. Bentornata!

9

David A

Pleasant and different so may stand out; however it doesn’t grab me and if anything is a tad ‘untidy’. There’s no real hook to seize onto and although the juries will love it I doubt the voting public will. It is a snapshot of sophistication but a smidgen bland.

5

Elias

San Remo Festival this year was amazing.  From all these great songs I would choose another one for Eurovision even if  I consider Follia d'amore a great come back for Italy.  The song has its own charm and i think the juries will love it, i hope the televoters too

9

Monty

Whilst so many people fawned obsequiously at the return of Italy I said I’d prefer to wait to judge the song. Having heard it it’s very much NOT a welcome return for me. I’m incredibly disappointed by the fact this will take up an automatic spot in the final.

1

Paul

Probably not the typical ESC fan fave and some might have hoped for a more known act to represent Italy after all these years. But musically this is a very strong song, jazzy and timeless sung by a real singer. There should still be a place for songs like that at a song contest I guess and its kinda nice to see that there are still real singers being interested in the ESC. Seems something special in times of Jedward and Lena

10

Dean

I suppose I was expecting too much from Italy.  This jazzy, big band-ish entry is just too meandering for me, but may well do well with juries.  It could well look 'classy' next to some of the more formulaic songs, but it's not something I'd really listen to.

4

Samuel

A good song, but not for 2011. This would have been perfect for a contest in the 70's

6

Gary S

I prefer the live version to the studio version and that may be because of the orchestra. Italy brings a little class to ESC11. I’m still deciding if this is a “love it” or “hate it” moment (don’t like the screaming), but I’m getting feelings of Rapsodia 1992 which is now an all-time classic for me. This is going to be a grower and a likely jury fave…. Fantastic to have Italy back!!

7

Pia

YES yes yes! Very good song and singer

9

Gary P

Now this is the sort of voice and song I can listen to again and again. I am not sure how well this will go down elsewhere in Europe but I love the piano and the cornet (I think it is?) - bravo Italy

8

Mark

Welcome back Italy! You really have been missed!! And you are back with a bang! I love this song. apart from the screech at the end I thought it was classy and interesting. Top 5 for sure!

9

David B

The opening instrumental sounds like incidental music from the BBC's "House of Eliot" drama series. For me, the Italian entry is interesting, even classy but really not cut out for Eurovision. The professional jury will reward it but I imagine that this will pass by many televoters. A very dated entry but I like it!

7

Roberto

Probably many fans will have been disappointed by the choice of the Italian Broadcaster RAI. Raphael has a very good song, charming but traditional ;  nevertheless, I don't know if it would be so able "to meet" the tastes of the viewers in the Grand Prix (or Eurofestival, as we say in Italy). It's something less obvious, that stings quality.  It's a clear risk for us, but the main goal is the return of Italy in the Contest.

8

Martin H

Nice song and very pleasant bumble along no overall appeal and just goes no where

2

Axel

Comes back this year. And how will it go? If you ask me, I think this is OK but not more than that.

5

Nico

Unlike many I whole heartedly welcome the return of Italy (an irony that I am sure will not be lost on the people that know me well.) I watched all the performances of San Remo and there were at least 5 songs way better than this one. However the new version is vastly improved and I actually really like it. Now I can actually see this doing ok.

7

Ryan

My pooooor ears that have to hear this HORRIBLE song.... Good to sleep a baby with but I guess You'd sleep with the baby too .... So annoying and boring ... I guess this is worst by now...

1

Eddie

Welcome back Italy. A classic style of sound, going back to yesteryear. Song gets better as it goes along but his voice is weird in parts. Juries will like this - televoters, hmmm not too sure.

6

Dmitry

Elegant song, which I can not say anything objective. This is Italy!

5

Danny

Oh dear. While San Remo 2011 was pretty poor overall, there were a few good excellent songs, but Italy decided to return to the fold with this rather dated jazz number which I can't remember a single note of. I'm sure it could do well, but Jalisse it's not.

3

Adri

sorry, but i don't like the return song of Italy.

3

Andrew B

Bastardo would have been one of my favourite Eurovision entries for a
long time, but I really like this song too. I am probably in a minority here, I do accept. I would have preferred it without the
trumpet, but I don't suppose that will get lost in the three minute edit. Reminds me of the German entry from 2004, which did surprisingly
well given the song and the less than attractive singer, so there is hope for this. A big welcome back to Italy and bravo for not giving a
toss what might be popular in Europe!

10

Morten

Raphael Gualazzi sings about the charm of nostalgy, and "Follia d'amore" certainly has that. I love the jazzy style and the use of the brass. It may not be a contemporary entry but its a very lovely and charming song.

9

Douwe

A jazzy sound from Italy to mark it's return to the contest after 14 years and perhaps some people will be disappointed - myself included. This is far from bad but just not my cup of tea. As always though Italia can be relied upon to send a classy and interesting song to the Eurovision. Subtle change from Italian to English that works very well ...

5

Roy

First of all, I am very happy Italy is back and I gather we all expected so much of their return after 14 years. The song is not my cup-a-tea, both in style (this jazz-swing) and also I find the singer's voice boring and too soft - I am used to much stronger Italian voices. So not the debut they or the fans have been hoping for.

4

Tom

I'm probably in the minority here, but I LOVE this! A great comeback to the contest. Unless they had sent Fiumi Di Parole part 2 it would have been hard to please everyone. It reminds me of Paolo Conte singing Germany 2007 - very good things. This will do much better than everyone thinks.

Italy has  come back to the ESC with a song that eurofans are not used to heard. However i don't like it, this song needs more rhythm to be a great song for me.

3

David G

Raphael might look as though he has momentarily stepped away from the bunga bunga backstage, and the trumpeter hasn’t had time to take off his scarf, but this is pure class. Only forgetting to stop before 3 minutes is up could hold this back.

10

Jose

I warm welcome back Italy to ESC, I like so much their musical style and even when expected more, this song is good enough

7

Brian

What happened!! We wait 14 years for Italy to return and this is what we get. This may be alright for San Remo but is so wrong for Eurovision. Big disappointment. I find his vocal in the early part of the song very weak.

1

Samantha

First and foremost, it's such a thrill to have Italy back in!  This is an obvious departure from the stereotypical ESC song, but that might be why I like this jazz piece so much.

9

Andrew C

Certainly not my favourite song in San Remo 2011, but a popular choice in Italy and different enough to stand out on Italy's return. Hope it does well enough for them to stay in the contest.

Radio friendly, builds up nicely and it’s a definite grower. However, the “boys” aren’t exactly charismatic and the whole package doesn’t have immediate appeal. The jury might yet save this but I have serious doubts about the Netherlands making it to the final, which would be a real shame.

7

David A

This seems to be a strange hybrid of various Coldplay songs strung together.  Better than any Dutch entry for a while but despite its attempts to seem modern it actually sounds rather dated. As indeed do the group themselves. A make-over on both song and group is required and possibly a translation into English otherwise the Dutch will languish once again.

4

Elias

The song is not at all bad, but the band performing it is a little bit old fashion.  It seems that they are singing better in a club/pub than at the Eurovision stage.  Also the Dutch language don't help the song at all, maybe in English it will have a better chance.  Finally this kind of songs generally are not gathering a lot of points from Eurovision fans.  For me its extremely difficult for this song to past to the final.

5

Monty

If The Netherlands are going to insist on sending something so dull and bland to the Contest then forgive me I find it difficult to think of anything interesting to say about  it. Three exceptionally bland   performers filling three exceptionally dull minutes with no hint of a tune whatsoever.

1

Paul

Some radio friendly stuff from the Netherlands this time, sung by an aged Dutch "boy/men/group". Needs a few times listening before it really works. I advice an English ESC version of the song ("You are not alone") if they wanna make it to the final this time. The performance is ok, nothing special, but suits the song. Their lead singer is desperately in need for a better hairdo though ;). All in all a decent entry and maybe the best song from the NL since a few years. I give it 7 points for the original dutch version.

7

Dean

I had pretty much written The Netherlands off after hearing the snippets, but this is a very good song.  Personally I hope they sing it in English, which should give them a strong chance of qualifying to the Final.  My favourite Dutch entry since One More Night in 2003.

7

Samuel

Nice and interesting choice for Netherlands. hope they make it to the final.

7

Gary S

This sounds very good as a studio track, but the presentation lets it down somewhat. A credible song that has been compared to ‘The Script’ in my house… Will need a performance of note to lift it – the guys don’t look like they are really enjoying themselves and the guitarists seem to blend into the background – could be 1J… With the right presentation, this could easily qualify though.

8

Pia

very monotone, but the singer is good

5

Gary P

Definitely my sort of song (which can only spell disaster for the Dutch). Love the lead singer's vocals and I wish this well

8

Mark

Great to see the Netherlands put forward a contemporary song for a change, Would really love to see them make the finals this year and this song could do it for them. Just get rid of the white shoes! They are hideous!

6

David B

When I heard that 3JS were singing for the Netherlands I felt quite heartened. Their big hit of 2010 'Wat is dromen' was lovely. Alas, the ESC song doesn't seem to reach those dizzy heights. It's a sturdy, pleasant and distinctly middle-of-the-road effort. Neither good nor bad. The performance, however, was good and it is a vast improvement on last year's nonsense. I don't see 3JS in the final though.

5

Roberto

I like this song. Catchy and ongoing, it tries to be an anthemic song. It sounds good in the Dutch language too. This is probably the best song from their National Final. Finally a chance for the land of the windmills ? Hope so. Not so original but likeable.

8

Martin H

A weak song takes a while to get going not really in any Eurovision mold i feel this may fall by the wayside in the semi final again.

2

Axel

I think this is a good song. It was absolutely the best song in the Dutch final. And I think that Netherlands will go through to the final this year.

8

Nico

Love it. The clear winner of the Dutch final. If my very poor Dutch is correct they have a surprise up their sleeves for Düsseldorf, which could mean they will sing in English, & much as I adore the Dutch language, this song could really, really be great in English (with a decent translation of course.)  They just need three walloppers for backing singers and it would be perfect. I do feel though that the 3Js should maybe follow the Belarus tradition and head to Greece for decent hair cuts.

9

Ryan

I find this song quite boring. Although the melody is quite catchy. Still it's quite repetitive. Sound's so late 80s ... Voice - hmm Really annoys me! Don't know why but last year Shalalie was great. 100% No final for Netherlands, but not a song that will finish last. !

2

Eddie

A Dad and 2 Sons for the Netherlands. I really like the song, very radio friendly. The lead singer has a great voice and it could really be a solo performance. Good stage presence. I think it would sound better in English. to the Final? Hope so!

7

Dmitry

So, now I listen song from Netherlands... I think, it's good song, but I’m not sure about winner. In my TOP this song have 10th place. So?

6

Danny

The Dutch have qualified just once for the final since 2004, and I don't think they will be making it number 2 this year with this, rather average song which sounds like something my dad would listen to in an attempt to be cool! Distinctly average.

5

Adri

For my taste, Netherlands have chosen the best song of Nationaal songfestival 2011, a charming and a beautiful song, that will be in the final, at least for me

8

Andrew B

Easily the best of the songs chosen to date, but I couldn't remember the song a minute after it finished. Which is more than can be said about the group, sadly. Alvin Stardust on a bad day, Alexander Stensrud's dad and a waxwork doll of a man who strutted around like a chicken. I was certainly not listening with my eyes.

5

Morten

The song is okay but rather forgettable - and so is 3JS's laid back performance. I'm afraid this will be another non-qualifying entry from The Netherlands.

5

Douwe

For the first time in years a credible entry from the Netherlands ... the clear choice of both the jury and the voting public and my favourite of the 5 songs too ! Love the subtle verse leading to the refrain which really brings the song to life. Uplifting lyrics too ! They've promised something special as far as the stage performance in Düsseldorf is concerned and a possible English version ... Could this finally be the year that we see the Dutch flag again on finals night ?

8

Roy

Both in 2009 and 2010 I had Netherlands first so I was very excited over this. 3J's are good, the lead singer has a good voice but the song is not instant catchy enough like the previous 2 years so I am afraid it may fade away. Hope they were more colourful clothes

6

Tom

Let's start with the positives, the 3JS are a decent group with a talented singer. Some would say that the fact it's not Sieneke is also a positive. But having watched the (terminally boring, sorry) Dutch final, it's pretty obvious that they picked the best of a bad bunch, song wise. Nothing very memorable, just inoffensive pop rock, and although the English version may bring it a little potential, I think it's very unlikely that we'll be seeing it trouble the top half of the scoreboard on May 14...

6

Daniel

This song is better than the songs that The Netherlands have sent to the contest in many years, however this song still don't convince me.

5

David G

It’s just me and my guitar. And my friend. Brians Ferry and Adams as you’ve never seen them before? Doesn’t float my boat and I don’t see it troubling the final.

4

Jose

6 years without having Netherlands in the final of Eurovision, and sadly I think, 3JS will be the 7th representative failing for the Dutch. The song and interpretations are good, but slow, and few people will understand their lyrics

6

Brian

This was my favourite in the National final and my favourite of the four chosen songs so far. It will be interesting to see if the English version is good enough for the contest. I'd be happy for them to keep the Dutch version. I thought they performed well and look good. It's about time the Netherlands were back in the final

8

Samantha

I absolutely love it!  Big, anthemic pop-rock that just feels good, even if you speak no Dutch.  Best Dutch entry in years.  I love it, which means it's doomed.

9

Andrew C

A reversal in the opposite direction for the Dutch with a song as different from Ik Ben Verliefd as is Stilton to Gouda. Really like this one and hope it gets them safely into the final and back into the top 10.

Decent effort from Slovenia this year. Nice Balkan sounding song (whether they consider themselves Balkan being irrelevant here) with a chance to qualify for the final.

6

David A

A rock type ballad with some ethnic rhythms thrown in. It is perhaps trying to be too many things at once and thus not achieving any with great success. It is strong in parts but doesn’t have a big enough hook and I find her voice a bit brittle.

4

Elias

Definitely better than Slovenian's 2010 entry, but again is not one of my favorites.  I believe it will be better if sang in English.  Please disappear the two dancers. What on earth was passing from their mind when they decided to add such a choreography to this song.

5

Monty

This is the kind of thing I think I’m really going to like, but I think it will need a few more listens yet. Nevertheless, it’s promising.

6

Paul

Another big fan fav. - the prototype of a „ESC diva“ with her vocal skills being more important than the song itself. Maja seems to be a good performer indeed and there is some stage presence too but I am still not sure if it is enough to score and qualify for the final. The fact that she is participating at the somehow suspected weaker second semi might work in her favour though.

7

Dean

Another a song that, in my opinion, doesn't really match the singer's obvious abilities.  I keep saying this, but I think this might benefit from being sung in English. Good but, again, lacks something to make it outstanding.

5

Samuel

Slovenian 100%, good and fresh

7

Gary S

The first hearing left me lost – the dancing made no sense until the last 30 seconds where it fits the crescendo and prior to which the song structure seemed empty. After a few listens, it becomes clearer, but you only have 1 chance at ESC… unless you are in Ukraine! Good singer, but I fear the song is too samey throughout to stand out. I really like it though and I always enjoy hearing the Slovenian language.

8

Pia

bad beginning. Strong, dramatic ending. Good singer

8

Gary P

Well this isn't bad - the problem is there are better versions of this type of song in the contest already so I suspect this will get lost and I cant see it escaping the semi final

4

Mark

ZZZZZZZZZZ oh dear this song is possibly the most boring in the contest. I will have to have a strong coffee before watching it again.

3

David B

Well at least Slovenia seems to be taking the contest seriously again. The entry seems to be a doom-laden ballad, well-performed. I think Slovenia may just be in with a chance - of making the final!

7

Roberto

This song has captured my attention from the second hearing on. It as a powerful and roaring ongoing. Pleasant and vibrating melody . Maja has voice and she's talented. The song "has something", yes, something good.

7

Martin H

builds really well but is Slovenian sung in a French style

3

Axel

No, No, No I don't like this at all. Next song please

1

Nico

Like Cyprus this starts off promising far more than it delivers. Another good singer, but they really needed to send the Rocky Partizani to guarantee them a place in the final. Still it's not bad and she's a great singer, but over all another disappointment from under achieving Slovenia

5

Ryan

I really don't love this song... I don't know why people love it that much :O! Actually her voice is only good ... Still not 100%... Her song is very mediocre... It has to be a Next Year for Slovenia

2

Eddie

Finally Slovenia sends a proper song. Great song, nice performer. Lose the twits dancing behind you. It's why Georgia didn't score higher last year.

6

Dmitry

A serious song that was made specifically for the ESC. With the chance go to the final! Excellent!

8

Danny

This reminds me quite a lot of Christina Aguilera! This girl has a really great voice, and this builds nicely to a great ending. Slovenia could perhaps have one of it's best performing entries in many a year in Düsseldorf.

9

Adri

this song from Slovenia, is very great, i think it will be at the top 10 in the final.

8

Andrew B

I can see a tree popping out of an apricot stone. This should see  Slovenia into the final without much of a problem, but the chorus lets
the verse down, so its not going to be a challenger.

7

Morten

The Slovenian language sounds beautiful in this melodious and breathtaking ballad. I especially love the dramatic end of the song. Maya Keuc is a fantastic performer, she really puts her soul into this. "Vanilja" may be a bit too gloomy but overall, it's a very beautiful song.

8

Douwe

This has it all going for it ... a classy moody piano intro - some incredibly warm melodies during the song and interesting musical influences here and there ... Maja will possibly
have the strongest voice in Düsseldorf, looks stunning and delivers 'Vanilija' with a conviction that says this is the song to take a place in the final for her country and hopefully score a lot of points once it gets there. An English version is ready but in Slovenian sounds fantastic so fingers crossed they keep it this way. Stirring stuff !

10

Roy

Another good looking female, another good voice. I also like the title - I like such one word titles as it is easy to remember. The song itself is a slight disappointment. It felt like it was one long verse, no break for a catchy chorus and I was wondering when it will end. This is never a good sign. Slovenia did not qualify last year and I don't they will do it this year either.

6

Tom

One of my favourite countries for most of the last decade, Slovenia have recently lost it. However this modern, rocky ballad goes someway towards repairing the damage done. Maja has a powerful voice and good presence, and I think the song will not only qualify but give them their best result since 2001.

9

Daniel

Slovenia sends a potential song to Düsseldorf, however this entry need to be more worked to get better results.

5

David G

Vanilija indeed. Backing singers sound terrible, they need to learn the song, though I understand their reluctance.

1

Jose

Slovenian contest was very strong, in my opinion 9 of the 10 songs were good. This is good and hope Slovenia get the favour of the votes for getting into finals

7

Brian

No surprise that this won, best by a mile. Lovely voice and I like how the song builds.

8

Samantha

The best of the ballads so far.  It's modern and dramatic, and Maja's voice is great

8

Andrew C

A typical Slovenian euro entry, totally overproduced, but it has a certain something which I like and I'd to see it in the final.

Perhaps Norway have more friends than Monaco but I can only see this as a version of La Coco Dance. I appreciate some people will find this little number entertaining. Unfortunately I can’t get over the fact that Stella can’t sing.

4

David A

Is everything this year to sound like something we’ve already seen? This could be a remake of France last year and I was no lover of that. I find this incredibly ‘flat’ for all its supposed energy. It seems to drain you rather than enliven. I think part of it may be the singer’s voice which comes across as her sounding deathly bored. The unbridled enthusiasm is just tedious and off-putting and just looks totally fake. It seems to be aimed at the very very young and they remind me of children TV presenters.

1

Elias

Congratulations to the people in Norway for their selection.  A song and a singer that don’t remind you anything from Norway but show how open minded they are.  The song is different, easy to remember, have simple lyrics (Germany 2010) and a cute full of life positive performer.  Also plus is the energetic stage presentation.  Definitely in the final and a TOP10 for sure.

8

Monty

Like many others this seems to be my guilty pleasure, yet I don’t really feel any guilt. I can’t help liking it. It really could go all the way. I’ll be happy, but broke, in Oslo again!

9

Paul

Not sure about this one - its too much of a "Waka Waka" cover to me and the girl looks nice but clearly can't sing. Will get some attention at the ESC but probably not do as well as some might expect her to do  - a France 2010 result is possible and very likely

3

Dean

Instantly attractive, this should do well with the televoters.  However it's not a song I find myself wanting to listen to again, so I think the juries will not reward it highly.

5

Samuel

Catchy, nice and interesting. But I thing there's something missing... and I don't know what.. maybe X Factor

7

Gary S

Not my first choice for Norway, but you can’t deny that this is undeniably catchy and will get the audience going. This deserves a final position, but maybe not as high as some might expect. Fun, but could also become very annoying. I always think that holding a national final in a big arena lets you know what can work at Eurovision – this will work well, but could drive some crazy.

7

Pia

This is ESC not a Caribbean contest

5

Gary P

apparently haba is a name for a form of acid....I say no more.

1

Mark

I like this! The Diana Ross look is fab. Song up tempo and up to date. Will definitely make the final.

7

David B

I was interested by one fan-site comment that said "2011 could be another 'Fairytale' year for Norway". My excitement waned when I heard this shockingly bad re-tread of the 2006 Monaco entry. Stella's live performance was, in places, horrendous. For me this song is three minutes of repetitive dullness. How quickly the 2009 champions have sunk down the leader board!

1

Roberto

German ESC has now its “Waka waka”, its admitting rhythm. We are not so far from Jessy Matador's entry for France last year : a nice rhythm that tries to involve, to amuse, to send joy and happiness, but nothing else.

6

Martin H

Nice opening but she needs to punch the song out and believe in it and herself not sure eastern Europe is ready for this

5

Axel

A happy song. But unfortunately I don't like this.

3

Nico

Eh oh, Coco Dance, la la la la. It's very jolly, but really she can't sing, and the lyrics sound like they were indeed written by a six year old little girl. Surely this was intended for Junior Eurovision? All that said, it's quite jolly and enjoyable. It's worth more than a 5 but less than a 6, so again I'm rounding down.

5

Ryan

What a fresh entry from Norway... Sounds like Monaco's 2006 entry Coco Dance... Stage presence in Germany will be great (I am assuming so) ... Haba Haba - Title makes me dance...

6

Eddie

A great  performance / performer. Song is slightly repetitive but the overall effect is great. Great energy - a top 10 place for sure.

8

Dmitry

Cool song. Must be in Top-10. Can’t write something else.

8

Danny

Haba Haba! I was in the Oslo Spektrum to see this song being chosen as the Norwegian entry and the audience went wild for this, and it's easy to see why. Stella is such an endearing performer and the song is so catchy that worms its way into your head after one listen. It's in a tough semi but it could do well...

10

Adri

it's so good this song, that, is a mix to Coco Dance, Allez Ola Olé & Waka Waka. I Like so much but Stella have to improve her voice

8

Andrew B

So far this is the song most likely to win, but there is a long way to go and I see this ending up around the same mark as France last year. Great party song which will go down very well in Düsseldorf.

7

Morten

"Haba haba" is a bit childish and will probably get rather annoying by the end of the day. But who can sit still while the divine Stella Mwangi spreads her joie de vivre throughout the stage? I sure can't. The cheerful performance lifts the simple song into a higher level, and this is already a safe qualifier in Düsseldorf. Me happy ;-)

8

Douwe

Wow ... where to start with this years Norwegian entry? Stella has a smile and a stage presence that is so warm and infectious and the emotion she showed throughout the programmes show how important the Melodi Grand Prix is to her ... This song is so simple and catchy and the enthusiasm with which it is performed is fantastic to see. This will be a huge favourite in the Euroclub in Düsseldorf I'm sure ... African rhythms from Scandinavia - Wonderful ! Vague echoes of Joëlle Ursull's 'White and black blues'.

9

Roy

Are we seeing a FAIRYTALE again? I find the chorus extremely catchy and the fact that part of it is sung in SWAHILI brings an exotic element to the song and also give rest of the world countries something to cheer for. Her voices during the verses are ordinary. But somehow Norway has find each time the last years something different

7

Tom

Actually, this is already the feel good song of the summer. Stella has huge charm and although she's not the most technically gifted singer this contemporary, funky track with a feel of the Caribbean could be a big challenger in Germany. After all, a journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step :)

10

Daniel

This is a rhythmic song that could make Norway succeed in Düsseldorf. Besides the style of the singer is very African, so is a big contrast with the Nordics features.

7

David G

Love it, great rhythm, pretty girl, half-pulled-off frock, lyrics by google translate, what’s not to like! France didn’t do very well with this song last year though!

7

Jose

I don't like it. However I see it potentially in the final, the rhythm is acceptable and can have appeal to the vast afro community in Europe

6

Brian

This was like a breath of fresh air after some of the results last weekend. Again a very simple song but I like the whole African feel to it. Stella comes across as having the time of her life so good luck to her. As to whether she will be in the final I remember loving Guri Schanke and she didn't do it but I hope Stella does

7

Samantha

Fun, bouncy, and instantly catchy...but will people say it's too much like France 2010 or "Waka Waka"?  It will definitely grab people's attention (and get people voting for it), but it's not the best song this year, despite what the bookies would have me believe.

5

Andrew C

I get the feeling the Norwegians are not keen to host the contest again in 2012. Should have been their song in 2010 for the World Cup in South Africa. oh well Hakuna Matata...

OK, not very original and Dana’s live performance was atrocious. Having said that, it’s a very catchy happy-go-lucky song and I think Dana will rise to the occasion.

8

David A

This clips along in a jolly way but the overall impression is one of being just adequate. Her fame may see this through to the final but I find it repetitive and disjointed and jarring in the centre.  It sounds like a longer dance tune cut short in its prime.

5

Elias

WHY?  Why a winner want to try again?  Carola and Charlotte were not enough to show that this is not the right choice? Dana’s song is so flat, so uninspired, so 80s, so nothing.  What to say about her stage presentation.  It’s a complete disaster and it makes you think where the Diva from the 90s have gone.

3

Monty

Thank goodness for Dana International! I wouldn’t really say she’s saving this year’s show, but she’s certainly making it more fun already. Of course this is flimsy, and nowhere near as good as Diva, but it’s catchy and fun, and she’s going to be great value.

8

Paul

Dana returns with a 90s retro up tempo song, which is much weaker than her winning entry "Diva". She won the KDAM because of her popularity and will probably be the center of attention in Düsseldorf too - just not because of the song or the  predictable performance. She can already be lucky if she makes it to the final this year, maybe also because of the juries pushing a former ESC winner but I doubt she'll be very  successful  in the end. To take part again with such a dated song was a mistake IMO, but its not worse than other trashy entries like "Lipstick",  "Haba Haba" or "Boom boom" either. So I'll give her 7 pts for the nostalgia.

7

Dean

A traditional Eurosong. My mark is for how the song can sound at its best, not the live version from Kdam which was pretty ropey!  I am sure this will be popular on the dance floor, although I think it will struggle to get out of the semi-final.

6

Samuel

The only attractive of Israel 2011 is Dana... the song is bad

3

Gary S

Starts promisingly… but is it just me, or does DI have one of the weakest and most out of tune singing voices ever known to man? While this will undoubtedly be a EuroClub favourite (once they’ve given it some oomph), it really doesn’t deserve to qualify for the final. It’s statically performed, weakly sung and has a banal title. If you’re going to send a diva, send one with some talent! I’d have thought there would have been some improvement since 1998 (don’t get me wrong, ‘Diva’ was a favourite then), but past success at ESC can mean dismal results if you return…. unless you have a better song. Eurovision has moved on… I hope!

2

Pia

Well Dana is Dana, not so bad, but not as good as 1998.

7

Gary P

Why don’t former winners retire? This is, sorry, rather weak. I suppose Ms International will get some votes from those that remember her past performance but the song doesn't deserve it.

3

Mark

I didn't like her voice when she sang Diva, and I still don't like it! The thing that saved Dana last time was the song, this time the song is terrible! Won't make the final, if there is any justice.

2

David B

Never let it be said that dodgy vocals and trite lyrics will prevent a singer winning Eurovision. Dana International managed it once before. Thirteen years later this whole approach seems a wee bit tired though. However, no doubt there will be a great stage show on the night and lots of enthusiastic support

6

Roberto

This song doesn't have a real emotional impact to me, even after more listens. It sounds monotonous and uninteresting.  It seems that the singer was selected instead of the song. Unimpressed.

4

Martin H

good voice and always great stage presence not a strong song but could still do it

9

Axel

I like the intro, But that's all. Not as good as Diva. And I don't think this will go through to the final.

3

Nico

Ding a dong every hour, when you pick a flower and you walk along with your ding dang dong. Hmmm, I didn't think Ms International did that anymore! Anyway, this is trite, formulaic, with lyrics that must have taken all of 5 minutes to write. Really why did she bother coming back with something as naff as this? There were many better songs in the Kdam such a shame that their spot in Eurovision is wasted with this nonsense. I don't think it will even qualify. I certainly hope it doesn't anyway.

3

Ryan

MY FAVOURITE SONG :DDDDDDD Amazing Track :)) The vocals can be improved but this song is amazing :) Go Dana Go Israel...

10

Eddie

Welcome back Miss International. I want so much more from this. I want more Diva, Ding and Dong. It sounds like an album filler rather than a hit single. I am guessing it will be remixed before Germany. Boarderline qualification for me. I do like the Backing singers in their Pantone dresses. Come on Dana, camp it up love.

6

Dmitry

Oh, oh, Israel! And Dana again! Magic, powerful song, I really like it. Must be in TOP-5 I think.

10

Danny

So we have another former winner trying to retain her crown this year. Sadly, Ding Dong is no Diva, being a fairly average pop track. The production on it leaves a lot to be desired, which is probably the reason that it is getting a facelift before May. Düsseldorf will certainly be a more interesting place with the Dana Show in town!

good song for israel, once again, but a little worse than diva, but it's more modern for me

Totally underwhelming. The song plods along at the wrong pace, Dana's rather weak voice is painfully exposed and the backing singers were horrendously out of tune. Dana International presumably didn't watch last year's contest, so she may be surprised to find herself heading for second last in the final. If she gets there.

I've never been a fan of Dana International's nasal voice but I have to admit, that  "Ding dong" is quite catchy, although the song belongs to the 70's.

An ok song - and probably much more effective when she's on stage in Düsseldorf.

OK - 'Ding Dong' isn't a patch on 'Diva' ... Her vocal during the KDAM was terrible ... and this needs a huge amount of work to get it anywhere close to being a qualifier ... Having said that it's easy on the ear, very catchy and by no means the worst of this years songs ... With Dana Int'l we've now got two former winners
in one Eurovision Song Contest ...

Last year Ireland sent someone who had won Eurovision before, this time it is Israel. On both occasions, I have liked the return song better than the original. DING DONG is simple title but catchy and I expected a totally different song, thinking it would be like Teach in's DINGE-A-DONG  but it is a beautiful song. Now I think most fans who liked DIVA (a dramatic song) will not like this but I think this is really good and one of Israel's best entries in year

Welcome back - say no more! Dana adds yet another to the list of this year's returning entrants. Aside from its unfortunate title,  and the fact that her vocals really haven't improved in the 12 year break, this catchy bilingual song is a worthy Eurovision entrant but how it will do is anyone's guess.

I love Dana International, I love her style, her songs, I love this option for Düsseldorf, it will surely a fantastic performance, great!

It's just so old-fashioned. I remember when I used to Ding Dong every hour. Like Dana herself its pretty enough but ultimately unconvincing.

When a returning winner comes back one expect so much, in the case of Niamh Kavanagh or Charlotte Pirelli, one receive what was expected, greatness. I must say I'm disappointed about such an ordinary song of Dana International, I have heard it 6 or 7 times expecting to have a better impression, still I find it ordinary

Although not as instant as Diva, with a bit of work on the presentation and bump up the music, this could be a challenger

I love Dana, and I have a ton of respect for her, but "Ding Dong" just doesn't do it for me quite yet.  The song feels dated and unspectacular and it pales in comparison to "Diva".  I am, however, looking forward to Dana's stage presentation!

Let's get one thing straight, Dana International could never sing, Diva just hid the lack of a voice better than Ding Dong can.
