EUROVISION 2014 - COPENHAGEN - DENMARK

SECHUK JURY 2014 - THE JURY REVIEW FOR BELARUS

2 Juries - one UK and one International, will comment on and rate the songs of ESC 2014 as they are chosen.

The idea is that the songs will be voted on first impresssions, as most TV viewers will do in May.

The main difference of course is that in May they will be subject to the same production standards and opportunties, something that differs at National Selection stage.

The song itself is extremely catchy, fresh, and contemporary. I can see this being a huge crowd pleaser on stage. The artist has a great voice and with some work on pronunciation, I don't see why this wouldn't do well!

I only have two words: so boring.

Ok this song is also average. It will loose in the pack of songs. I dont see this qualifying just with luck. For me this song is not working at all.

Will 2014 be the year Belarus finally keep the song chosen in the national final ? Work needs to be done on his diction and pronunciation between now and May.  TEO bears an uncanny resemblance to a certain Mr Pasha Parfeny. His vocals are fine and he certainly enjoys himself on stage. 'Cheesecake' has a lazy beat that is annoyingly catchy. This will probably scrape into the final but not a favourite of mine.

Definetly the most amusing song from Belarus of all times. Like the rhythm and the energy of the performer. The lyrics although are ment to be funny are a little bit nonsense but ok. I feel it will be a nice song to watch with a more slick performance

This is not my dreamsong, however I recognize on it a refreshing song, away from the typical dance or funny song, what I appreciate from Belarus this year. Good luck to Teo!

Mark

Well I have to say that this song has absolutely no redeeming features whatsoever. Totally hideous rubbish from start to finish including the dancing. Yuk!!!! Deserves the lowest points I have ever given a song.

Whilst I know we're early days, this is the best of the entries selected so far - It's catchy, harmless pop; TEO 's quite charismatic and I can quite easily see this qualify with minimal tweaking involved (Google Maps anyone?) Well played Belarus , well played.

The song is funny and has a nice rhythm, but not in a bad way. He is a charismatic performer, he reminds me a little bit Pasha Parfeny, but lacks voice or his singing is weak, and although he delivers it perfect. I think this song will have a revamp planned.

Well, yes, it is different but I do not like it. It is too repetitive, it does not look good on stage and it is boring at the end. I do not see how Belarus could get to the final with a song like that.

YESSS!  This was fun and really in my taste ! You can see him enjoying being on stage! Belarus´answer to Ricky Martin? Performance, singing, melody everything on top ! 9.5 points ! YEY

A quite funny song from a Robin Thicke / Pasha Parfeny look-a-like. A bit original, a bit catchy and finally something more "contemporary" ... and that's all.

We have a saying in Afrikaans, you cannot have your cake and eat it. It was bound to happen. After 4 years loving the Belarus  entry, it is not happening this year. It is not my kind of cake .Maybe again they will change the song and then I have a favourite again.

Normally, I roll my eyes when Belarus swaps their song out, but this year, I'll beg for the change. From the painful rhymes to the stunted English to the Willy-Wonka arrangement, this just makes me cringe. Knowing Teo's written the discarded, yet decent entries "Far Away", "All My Life", and "Rhythm of Love", I'm left wondering: why did he saddle himself with this schlock?"

Am I being punished for all the years I complained about Belarus changing songs after initial selection? Please let it happen again this year as I can't bear to sit through this in even one semi-final. Hopefully it will be disqualified for plagiarism as it sounds like a very pale reflection of Pasha Parfeny!

Not the usual type of song I like but this is quite catchy and it has really stuck in my head despite some of the dubious English lyrics. A very nice live performance. Not sure it will make the final (if it is their actual entry in the end!!)

This frankly, is a rather average song of which the only interesting thing is the title of the song. Apart from that, it’s pretty non-descript, sung by a guy who thinks he is Robin Thicke. The lyrics are awful, and there were much better songs to choose from in the Belarussian selection. That saying, I think it has a chance of qualifying, that is, if they keep the song, and going on past history, you just never know with Belarus !

I strangely like this; it is infectious and actually delivers what it is trying to be: cute! So that’s a first.  The guy can sing which helps and although it won’t set Eurovision aflame it should do well. I just hope they don’t come up with some silly dance routine.

A chance to hear the song that probably won't be in Copenhagen . Needless to say, it is up to Belarus ' usual woefully low standard but there is a bit of a tune trying to escape. However, the performance is wobbly at best and the on-stage mincing dance looks amateur. Maybe with a bit of spit and polish it could be average but at the moment this cheesecake is looking somewhat plain.

This grows after a few listens, but that’s never a good sign at Eurovision.  It’s trying to be cute and cool, but the pronunciation needs huge work and it all comes over as a bit…well…cheesy!  I think this piece of Cheescake may have gone off by May.

Dean

Good grief. On first listening it was very hard to work out the lyrics, and the whole thing seemed crass. But it grew on me on a 2nd outing. But will it actually be the entry from Belarus ?

5

Eddie

If this is Cheesecake, then it's the saver or value version. Singer has presence but song is very b side / low key / goes and does nothing!

Since ‘ Waterloo ’ I’ve waited for a winner that fits modern charts. Euphoria came close & this seems to fit recent chart sounds. A quirky modern production and a fun fresh sound (a light mix of Pasha P/Robin Thicke). No guarantee that they will keep it, but this is meeting my expectations of a fun sound for Eurovision. I like his presentation and I hope they don’t go OTT or tacky on the ‘show’ which is highly possible.

Ok, I will eat the cake but will leave the cheese firmly in Minsk-meat.... completely awful, soggy mess at the bottom of the tin. Sorry but unless there is a major re-mix it'll be flatter than a pancake.

Nico

Awful accent, naff lyrics, dull melody; what's not to like... err..actually everything. Actually there is something to like, Teo has a good voice and luckily this is Belarus so he may end up with a much better song. Alas as things stand, it's cheesey, it's kakky, it's just cheesekak!

Is this their entry? It's Belarus . We all know that this has to be approved by the Dear Leader first! Slightly dodgy vocals and lyrics but this is catchy and he is a hottie! Gets my vote!

Sally-Ann

Not much point saying too much about this one, as they're bound to change it before long.  I hope so anyway, because both song and singer are highly irritating.  I do NOT love Belarus .

Tristán

The lovechild of Brad Pitt and Pasha Parfeny brings us this fairly catchy though ultimately rather annoying song. I preferred six other songs in the Belarus national final, and it is a huge shame that we won't be having "Via lattea" or the Switter Boys instead. I have already got quite bored with it, so am finding it hard to give it more than 6 points.
