EUROVISION 2014 - COPENHAGEN - DENMARK

SECHUK JURY 2014 - THE JURY REVIEW FOR DENMARK

2 Juries - one UK and one International, will comment on and rate the songs of ESC 2014 as they are chosen.

The idea is that the songs will be voted on first impresssions, as most TV viewers will do in May.

The main difference of course is that in May they will be subject to the same production standards and opportunties, something that differs at National Selection stage.

My first instinct with this entry was that it sounded like a downgraded Bruno Mars. But, then I listened to it a few more times, and it was actually really catchy and fun! I just hope the artist works a little more on his vocals, but all in all, it'll be fun to watch on stage.

An okey song, but this is to happy for my taste. But might do well in Copenhagen .

This song is crap. Its just lame and dull.I don't like it at all.For the host country this song will not fly high

If Denmark were hoping for a second consecutive victory or another top three finish, it is fairly safe to say this is not going to happen. Other than the feel-good beat that will get the locals pumping in the hall, this is nothing special. Just like last year, the host country have produced a very average song. Basim has bags of personality and plenty of energy but the Danes can be thankful they are directly qualified for the final.

What an amazing energy on stage .... great well thought stage appearance, awesome voice and the host country will hit high

After this selection, I'm pretty sure Denmark won't repeat their victory. I still wait the charm of this and cannot find it, just a song that I will forget when the years pass

I have to admit I was a little disappointed with this entry. I feel like it was trying to copy Malta ’s entry of last year and failing miserably

I love this song! A catchy toe-tapping number that, from the very start, brings a smile to my face. Basim has a solid vocal and radiates a lot of energy on stage with his performance. This is an entry the host nation can be proud of.

Catchy and he has good live vocals. Kinda remind me to Bruno Mars style. I think that he has to will work really hard to become better. I really like the song more for everytime I hear it, it makes me in a happy mood, nothing special.

An entertaining entry, I like it, it's fresh, energetic and Basim has a decent voice. Although I'm sure Denmark will do well again this year, I do not see this as a winner at all.

Finally something happy and positive ! I like this song, because this is a song, not rap or screaming ! Top 5 for Denmark ? YES !

This kind of music and this song really leave me cold. Scat singing, improvisation, so many "inspirations" in a weak, stale, forgettable song. It tries to be endearing but the result is boring, opaque not catchy and rather irritating. Sorry Denmark .

This is indeed a cliche. The song is different from what has been selected for Eurovision this year so maybe it will stand out, but for me personally this is a not a song for my ears. The situation is similar to me then after 2000 when denmark won and then had Rollo and king. So maybe we get a surprise and this ends also 2nd?

This isn't new or original (just ask any Bruno Mars fan!), but if Denmark wanted to present a home entry that will get people smiling, dancing, and waving their flags, mission accomplished.

Very instant. Instantly annoying that is. Sure to get the crowd going and do well but will there be a legal challenge by 'The Real Thing' cos this sounds like 'You to me are everything' to me.

6

Brian

Very catchy and sing-a-long. This will go massive at the contest and I really wouldn't bet against it making two victories in a row for Denmark . I like it

Denmark really don’t know how to change the record, do they? This is yet another MOR track from them which is pleasant enough, but I just don’t think Basim has any star quality. Just as well Denmark are the host nation and are not pressurised to do well, as I cannot see this in the upper echelons of the scoreboard, it’s just too forgettable.

I give up. Is there a most annoying performance award? And the song is little better. I can’t believe this won anything.

This one is as cheap as chips but it certainly adds a smile to this year's contest! The song is throwaway pop in the Olly Murs style - non-threatening stuff for pre-teens. The Danish entry will go big in the hall and hopefully Europe will be tapping its toes along to Basim.

8

David E

This is pleasant enough and I totally get all the Bruno Mars references.  Not so keen on the skiddly-diddly chorus, but it should still do well enough for the host nation.

7

Dean

Love it. A great pop song, well performed and instant. Not a winner but It's great.

Eddie

Will the Danish Olly Murs please step forward! Well done to the host nation for sending another great pop song. A fab sing-a-long chorus - he's a good performer but with a modern song needs a modern outfit to reflect the mood. Please update before CPH . Top 10 for sure!

Something different from Denmark with an Olly Murs/Bruno Mars feel to it. I like it. Its aimed at a generation below me, but it makes me smile and he seels the song well. Nice one, Denmark !

Not my favourite song but it does have 3 things going for it: 1) it's the home entry 2) it has the classic 'shoobiedoobiedoo-tra-la-la' lyrics and 3) it's a happy and cheerful three minutes.  Oh and it has a very apt title!

Nico

So Denmark reverts to their classic style after victory. Jolly and pleasant enough, well performed, but would be surprised if it did particularly well, of course that all depends on what else is in the final. Shame they didn't go for the beautiful Danish language song on home territory.

Paul J

Very Bruno Mars. I like this and it's well performed but the chorus reminds me of Hanson's Hmm Bop - which isn't a good thing. Safe song for the home country but no cigar.

6

Sally-Ann

I genuinely love this - Bruno Mars meets Olly Murs to produce Bruno Murs, with a unique, catchy and very contemporary entry that will ensure a top 5 position for the host nation.

Tristán

Oh no, this is terrible. Clearly Denmark are trying to avoid the expense of hosting again so soon. Certainly the worst song this year so far, if not this decade. Hard to say anything good about it, the only nice bit is completely ripped off from "You to Me are Everything".
