EUROVISION 2014 - COPENHAGEN - DENMARK

SECHUK JURY 2014 - THE JURY REVIEW FOR ESTONIA

2 Juries - one UK and one International, will comment on and rate the songs of ESC 2014 as they are chosen.

The idea is that the songs will be voted on first impresssions, as most TV viewers will do in May.

The main difference of course is that in May they will be subject to the same production standards and opportunties, something that differs at National Selection stage.

12 points for being the best underproduced version of Euphoria! The artist has a great stage presence and voice, but the song just feels like it's trying so hard to be something that it's not. There is no dynamic factor here that sets it apart.

Just average. Have nothing else to say.

Another average song.Still I think it will qualify and on the night Estonia 's position depends on the draw.It doesn't make my heart beat faster but its not that bad.

The strongest song of the 3 Baltic states this year although that isn't saying much. Pale shades of Loreen with a bit of Cascada and Emmelie de Forest thrown into the mix. This is so heavily choreographed it seems more like the Eurovision Dance Contest. Tanja's live performance is also very reminiscent of Sofia Nizharadze's 'Shine' (GE 2010). Some work needs to be done on her accent and hopefully she can manage to sing/dance without getting out of breath.

Tanja is an exceptional performer, flawless both in dancing and singing. Love the contemporary dance that dressed the song but the actual song is not so strong. Definetly in the Final.

I really wanted to see Sandra in Denmark , but since this is a song contest ... I think Estonia choose right. I see this song in the low positions of the final, but just can say they choose right among the bunch of songs they had to offer.

If Tanja was singing live and dancing like she was, then this is amazing! Something tells me she was miming in which case the performance will have to go in Copenhagen

I cannot get into this song at all. And it's been done before - I'll leave it to the other jury members to explain where. Estonia , you're better than this...

It's a nice song. Tanja is beautiful, has a great voice I see she's talented and she's a really good performer. Although i wonder if she really can sing and dance at the same time. They should get rid of the choreography it reminds people too much of Loreen and Pink.

Yes, another Loreen inspired song but would not say it's bad. I just do not think that this song is good enough. Estonia may qualify for the final but would struggle in the final.

Pia

I thought this was a songcontest, not a danceshow. A mix from Sweden 2012 and Denmark 2013 ...blaaa. This is just crap ! Nothing at all ...no melody no music ...

If you listen to this quickly, shortly, you can even like it. If you listen to this with full attention you may ask questions and have some doubts. It reminds a lot "Euphoria", especially in the performance, as well as "Running up that hill" by Kate Bush. So, is this a cheap copy or a nice attempt to do a catchy song ? I don't know the answer, sorry.

After 2 years of great songs in the Estonian language, we are into English now. Some people predict Estonia to win following Sweden , Denmark , Estonia in 1999, 2000 and 2001, so they think the trend will be repeated, so I listened closely to this entry. It is many times better than their 2001 winner but I am not sure if it is strong enough to win. It is a good song but now "amazing".

I'm impressed by Tanja's vocal control as she dances, but how much of that is actually the work of the backing singers? Lacks the oomph of "Euphoria" or the drama of "Shine" (Georgia 2010), but perfectly serviceable.

Had high hopes. Classy final, great venue, good selection of songs and what do the Estonian public do, choose a pale reflection of Euphoria. Nothing more to say really...

A typical Euro bopper and the sort of thing that i enjoy seeing on the Eurovision stage. I think this will do well for Estonia and the audience are definately going to be dancing along. This will grow on me

I remember Tanja when she took part in the Estonian National final around ten years ago, so it’s nice to see her back. This is quite a departure for Estonia , and sounds more like something one of the Scandis would send. Some people have compared it to Euphoria, but I think that’s a little unfair, it’s a dance song with eccentric choreography. To Tanja’s credit depute being thrown all round the stage she sings it so flawlessly that many people thought she was miming! I think this could do well!

It might help if we had a lead singer actually singing! It’s very bland but then bland won last year. She’s trying to combine so many elements that it just does nothing for me really. It could with good staging pull in many votes but they would be for the tricks, but that’s what it seems to be about these days.

It's another slice of 'Euphoria'-lite but pleasant enough. The stage antics are a little over-the-top but this is solid entry that as long as Tanja doesn't have a Cascada moment, should make the final easily. Amazing? Not really but 'Quite Nice'.

7

David E

Style over substance.  It’s all about the ballet and all that prancing about… The song is contemporary enough but I’m not sensing a second Estonian win in Copenhagen

6

Dean

The Eurovision Dance Contest is back.  I was disappointed with this as I really wanted Sandra Nurmsalu to win. Anyway it was not to be.  Slightly Europhoria/Glorious-lite,  Amazing is ok, but not much more.

Eddie

Oh Estonia , it's not 2012 and you're not Sweden . It's a good song, a bit dated but still sounds good. However the performance is a copy and a bad one at that.  Keep the singer still for a better vocal.

Gary

The singing gymnast…! If that is live singing, rather than beefed-up vocals from the sidelines like Loreen, then this is amazing. Not different enough to win, but should do well for Estonia . I’d change the outfit though…

Mr Sheen needs to make another appearance here!  It reminds me greatly of a certain recent winner and it's another one that has potential but as it stands is very messy. How can she sing AND dance so much?

6

Nico

It really looks like Finland and Eesti swapped roles this year. This sounds like the kind of “I want to be Sweden " song that the Finns occasionally send, with more than a whiff of Euphoria. That said, all the dancing her singing is very impressive. It's not bad, but certainly not amazing.

5.5

Paul J

Oh dear. Loreen this isn't! No doubt I'll fly my trusty Estonian flag regardless but this doesn't match the quality of their efforts over the past few years

6

Sally-Ann

A rather desperate mix of Glorious and Euphoria produces an end result rather less than Amazing.  Another one that could improve with a re-vamp but the first listen doesn't impress

Tristán

Considering she has had a trapped nerve in her back for two weeks, this was, like the title of her song, amazing, and it will do very very well in Copenhagen . She manages to sing very steadily in spite of being thrown around. Am gutted that Wilhelm didn't win, however.
