EUROVISION 2014 - COPENHAGEN - DENMARK

SECHUK JURY 2014 - THE JURY REVIEW FOR GREECE

2 Juries - one UK and one International, will comment on and rate the songs of ESC 2014 as they are chosen.

The idea is that the songs will be voted on first impresssions, as most TV viewers will do in May.

The main difference of course is that in May they will be subject to the same production standards and opportunties, something that differs at National Selection stage.

This is the definition of a cheap song. The production in this is representative of the financial crisis in Greece . Greece has amazing artists, so it's sad seeing this represent the country.

Quite nice song, that I surely will dance to this summer

Well I really think that Greece will be a borderline qualifier this year. This song will struggle to get trough the semi final.I don't think it will be high on the jury scoreboard and neither on the televote because its depending on a smaller voting block.Maybe the diaspora will help but seriously i don't think so.

If this incredibly repetitious and bullish song came from anywhere other than Greece in all probability it would be heading home after the semi-final but it isn't and so it won't and the 100% qualification record continues for yet another year. Yes, it is fresh and will get everyone moving in Copenhagen but it is just not for me. I long for the days when we used to have classy songs from Hellas .

It was the best from the four choices and an original entry for eurovision. At the same time it continues the trend of recent years 2011, 13, 14 were Greece is sending something completely different and out of the esc recipe.

Finally a greek entry that don't sounds extremelly traditionally greek and I appreciate that a lot. However it's not my dream entry, and I'm sure that will be top 10 no matter what.

OK Greece this is the same record you have sent for the last 2 years, just mixed up a bit. Getting a little bored now - will still get votes to bring it to the final but no glory

I quite like this! It's catchy, the boys look good on stage and there's no way we're going to forget the song title in a hurry. A bonefide Euroclub hit and I predict another qualification for Greece .

Great dance song with a strong melody that mixes dance, rap and national melody, maybe not that original, but It will bring to the arena a lot of energy.  I don't see it winning, but I see it in the final. They need to work their stage performance, it was quite boring but I'm sure that they have a lot of time to improve.

OK, it will make the crowd in Copenhagen dance, it has good rhythm and it is fun. But to be honest that quite like it but anyway, Greece will probably have yet another good result.

A summerhit !  A little bit boring with "rise up" 500000 times, but very catchy. Yepp top 5 for Greece thie year !

Is this a 90's dance revival ? A noisy set, a repetitive song that goes ... where ?  Just a moment of fun and nothing else. Probably a fancy attempt to do something different and more contemporary. Dance acts are always welcome here. Rising up, yes, but I feel not so happy.

I did not listen to the other 3 songs, so I am not sure if Greece picked the best song? But in my taste, this song is very un Greek but it may collect points from several countries. The song sounds monotonous after one listen already so I imagine by the time Eurovision comes, I will be totally tired of it.

I worry that this might depend too much on technical trickery, rather than live vocal performance, but I can't help but smile when I hear "Rise Up". It sounds familiar and contemporary, and viewers looking for modernity and fun might flock to this.

I like the brass lament, I like the Balkan SKA sound but the rest you can keep. Just too repetitive with no purpose but unfortunately, almost certain to make the final.

More of a holiday song when you've had too much Retsina. Hate the rap part and it's just so repetitive, nothing to it at all. Greece disappoints me these days. Still at least I won't have to suffer it getting 12 points from Cyprus this year.

Greece have taken a bit of a risk this year with this one. It’s very contemporary, but I don’t think it really has much melody at all in the chorus, and rap never really has done well at Eurovision. I can’t see the juries going for this one so it’s going to have to rely on the Greek diaspora to vote for it. It will qualify, but it is definitely not a contender. Still, it’s one to dance to at EuroClub!

The beginning sounds like the Death March you get at funerals.  This is like something a teenage boy would make in his garage with two pals after school thinking they are being so cool. It is frankly abysmal . Every song in the Greek NF was better than this by a mile. How sad.

From the introductory doom-laden brass onwards, I'm loving this one! Great beat, infectious melody and about as modern as a Eurovision entry gets. Whack up the volume and enjoy!

I suppose this is quite infectious, but I’m not a ska fan in general, and the first 20 seconds is like music from some nightmare in hell, but it’ll qualify and do well in the final – natch!

Another fab song! Poppy, modern, instant, this will sail into the Final, and should be Top 5 in the final shake-up.  Love it.

Ahh, the follow up to Stereo Mike is here. A great club tune - very cool production and memorable riffs. Catchy but too repetitive. For me, it is like Cascada - will go big in the arena but lose translation to TV viewers.

I don't give out 10's willy-nilly. A song either has to hit me in the chest or get me dancing around the room to get that. Thinking about it, I'm probably too old for this too, but I don’t care – I love it! Punchy, powerfal, fast and furious. I'm trying to keep up with the moves away from the predictable and generic, I guess. Go Greece !

It's continuing this year's baking theme.  No doubt that it is indeed foot-tapping and is one of the more boogie-type songs of this year.  But gets a tad repetitive after a while and I begin to wonder what else they want us to do 'cept rise up ?

7

Nico

Well it's certainly an enjoyable dance track, but I just can't see how it will work for Eurovision as a 3 minute performance unless they drastically overhaul the staging. Should qualify from just 15 songs, but can't see it in the top ten at the moment.

I tend not to like this style of music but this isn’t a bad effort from Greece . It’s contemporary and credible. Quite amazing that Greece are still in the contest this year, should this win, which isn’t beyond the realms of possibility, it’ll be interesting to see if they go onto stage the event in 2015…

I suspect the full sentence reads, "Entering Eurovision is very RiskyKidd", but no matter, this is one of the best pop choons in the contest and I suspect will Rise Up the scoreboard rapidly.

Yes! My favourite of the four excellent Greek contenders, this is a great tune and I can't wait to see it sung live in person. I really hope someone manages to smuggle an airhorn into the B&W Hallerne as the crowd made all the difference in the live show.
