EUROVISION 2014 - COPENHAGEN - DENMARK

SECHUK JURY 2014 - THE JURY REVIEW FOR IRELAND

2 Juries - one UK and one International, will comment on and rate the songs of ESC 2014 as they are chosen.

The idea is that the songs will be voted on first impresssions, as most TV viewers will do in May.

The main difference of course is that in May they will be subject to the same production standards and opportunties, something that differs at National Selection stage.

Finally an entry that has the sounds of a winner. I like the Celtic roots and the contemporary vibe. With a strong visual performance, this may be Ireland 's best result in a long time! I find myself rooting for this one to work out in Copenhagen

Quite okey song, not bad nor really good.

Well Ireland is trying to freshen up but still no there yet.I think this song will just miss out on the final. Its not quit good enough and it will not stand out.The song is ok but not outstanding.

There are certain similarities to 'Only Teardrops' here but with a more modern feel. There are some lovely Irish flavours in the song too and Kasey has a great voice. This should see Ireland safely into the final once again, however I doubt it will set the scoreboard on fire in May.

Lets put a violin and some riverdance and we are ready. Dear Irish i'm afraid that its not enough.

First think that it comes to my mind is "Only teardrops" what it will not help a lot in Copenhaguen. Something that will help is to put the dancers to do something better, that dancing is awful. However the song is very appealing, nice arrangements and voice

Well having heard the song from my home country I am feeling confident, though I said that last year and look what happened!! Strong song, Celtic Feel, good singer. I ask you what is not to like?

This song is modern and inoffensive enough to see it likely make it into the final, however I feel it's missing a lot of impact at the final drop. The dancers at the national final are distracting as well. This needs a bit of tinkering, but a decent effort nonetheless.

Fantastic Song. All ingredients in the recipe for success: drums, rhythm violin, Irish dance, backing vocals, amazing voice, charming singer, but I'm not sure if the Riverdance dancers are a good thing. The performer has an interesting voice and the song is pleasant to listen, It sounds like a radio song and the refrain has a really nice hook and it is memorable enough to attract votes from all over the continent.

It's an OK song, it has nice ethnic sound which make it nice but I found the whole song a bit bland, repetitive and really lacking some energy. I think Ireland will be in the final but I'm afraid they will struggle to get some points in the final.

I like the song , but the singer is more dead than alive on stage, moore enthuiasm please. Riverdance ?? I love Riverdance, but maybe this is a little too late ....

Quite good song. I like the sound. Ireland wants to go back to its roots and will send its distinctive (musical) trademark. The result is overall pleasant.

A very easy on the ears song from Ireland and I think this song would do well. This song should have been in 2011 when the  slogan for Eurovision was FEEL YOUR HEARTBEAT. I like it and it seems thebetter sonfgs are now chosen. I started off my first accreditated Eurovision in Ireland in 1995, so could be go back there in 2015?

It's always nice to see a bit of local flair in an ESC entry, and this was arguably the best of the NF, but I can't imagine this giving Ireland their 8th victory. Pleasant and fun, but it almost borders on cliché (take out those dancers!).

It'll be the final rather than the song that will be remembered for Ireland this year. Accusations, recriminations and a Jeremy Kyle moment but the right song won. Love the mix of modern and traditional and I hope they keep the dancing.

A good song with nice Celtic backing influences. Really like the rousing chorus. I do agree with the jury comments about the backing dancers, they don't add anything to the performance. Hope this does well for Ireland .

After a rather eventful National Final, this pop song with a Celtic twist won out. Kasey is a great singer and looks fantastic, but the National Final performance felt a little static, and I don’t think the Irish dancing worked. However, I think with a bit of work, this could do well for them and should do better than their last place in the final last year.

I find this rather nothing and shrill. I hope they don’t over ‘Irish’ the presentation as that will kill it i.e. no idiotic dancers. It’s OK but that’s all and any other year would be borderline but with their semi draw it probably will qualify although not to any great achievement.

Another chance to hear 'Only Teardrops' but now with added 'Riverdance'. The tune is OK but the presentation is seriously wrong: an uptempo song performed by a woman who doesn't move a muscle, two slightly camp dancers ( Ireland have you learned nothing from last year?) and an old lady green frock. Ireland should sail into the final quite easily but the song needs to have greater visual impact and a slightly more powerful lead vocal.

Teardrops Lite.  A competent vocal and the tune is catchy enough, but I’m not sure it’s really strong enough to qualify.  The dancers add nothing and look ridiculous.

What a national final! This was my favourite song. It will be great to dance to this. I could do with it being a bit less 'Irish' and definitely ditch the traditional dancing. Naff. Not a Eurovision winner but hopefully a qualifier.

Eddie

A good pop song from Eire but they haven't learnt the lessons of last year. The song itself is modern, she's a good performer and I like the production. But the performance is too busy with dancers. Simplify and it could do well.

Gary

Ireland steps outside its borders for yet another entry. Something I find sad. There is some Irish influence in there though and it’s a lively little number. Drop the dancers who are not in keeping with the song and learn from 2013. This deserves to do better than it might.

At the start I was full of hope as she has a good voice but, as the seconds ticked by and the comparisons to "Only Teardrops" got ever stronger, I lost interest at about 2 minutes.  I will like it I know, but the crucial first listen didn't do it for me.

6

Nico

Good voice, good tune, good stuff. Would have been happy with any of the top three form their final. The performance is a bit static somehow. There's something lacking in edge in the performance to give the song a bit of magic, but I like it and there is time to sort that out.

8

Paul J

I really like this, quite a catchy song, reminds me a little of Ryan Dolan. They need to ditch those dancers though! It's embarrassing, like a parody from Father Ted! Pretty singer though! Qualify with ease!

7

Sally-Ann

Ireland missed a trick in not putting forward Eoghan Quigg with his charming ditty.  This was second best but, to my ears and eyes, simply a female version of last year's song and performance.

6

Tristán

Unlike with Hungary , this is a far worse song than 2013, when Kathy should've won. I love the Irish dancers in the national final, but nothing removes the fact that she has a very weak voice, especially live. Will she do better than Dolan? Debatable.
