EUROVISION 2014 - COPENHAGEN - DENMARK

SECHUK JURY 2014 - THE JURY REVIEW FOR ISRAEL

2 Juries - one UK and one International, will comment on and rate the songs of ESC 2014 as they are chosen.

The idea is that the songs will be voted on first impresssions, as most TV viewers will do in May.

The main difference of course is that in May they will be subject to the same production standards and opportunties, something that differs at National Selection stage.

I love Mei's vocals! I'm just a little confused by the song. It is extremely intense at some parts and then it turns into a powerful pop song in others. It works well in the music video, I just don't think it will particularly work well live on stage. We'll see!

This is quite good. But it is something with it that I don't like, Don't know why. But still quite good.

This is a new style form Israel but I like it.The song is ok its not great but the singers voice is classical and raw.Israel is back to the final for me.

In total contrast to their sensitive ballad of 2013, Israel has found a scorcher of a singer and a fantastic song for Copenhagen . Mei has an amazing and powerful voice with a lovely sexy sound and 'Same Heart' grabs you from the first note. Catchy, contemporary, great mix between English and Hebrew that adds to the overall attraction. We've even got a key change. Some dance moves on stage like in the official video and this is going to score a lot of points. Top 5 in the final is a definite possibility ... מַזָּל טוֹב Mazal tov ...

After Emma another powerful women performer!!! She will really stand out because she seems to be ready for an amazing stage act. Her voice is also great and most probably Israel will return in the Top 10.

Powerfull in all the way: The song is modern, the lyrics are interesting and Mei is a very tallented singer. I cannot wait to see this prodigality together in Copenhaguen, wishing to have a Tel Aviv 2015 contest.

This one is a grower! The more you listen, the more you like. Not sure that will work in ESC as the song needs to catch you on first listen. Should do OK though.

This is an amazing entry from Israel , and I'm loving the tone in Mei Finegold's voice. Very well written track with a good hook in the chorus, one of my personal favourites.

A good choice. The song is actually quite good, modern, up-best and well produced. She has a gorgeous voice and really like the song. Should be in hebrew only… sounds much better! like it a lot. Hopefully it will be accompanied by a strong stage presence and performance. A real contender.

I really like the powerful contemporary flow of this song and it meets my expectations of a "great Eurovision tune". She has a very strong voice and she sings outstandingly. I hope to see her in the Final, she deserves a high placement.

I always like songs in TWO languages and I think it should be a rule at EUROVISION - that way you please both sides, the people going for English songs and the native langauges. The song is quite strong and powerful and I think it should do well.

I tend to support female-led entries with a bit of "grrrrr" in them ("Na inat", "L'enfer et moi", "One More Day", etc), so this falls right into my wheelhouse. Mei's got a unique huskiness to her voice that helps her stand out, but I'm a bit nervous, as I've yet to hear her sing this live.  As it stands now...

Good solid entry from Israel this year. Modern sound with a hook in the title.  Should get them safely back into the final.

Didn't think I'd like this but the more i hear it the more it grows on me. A big voice and a big song. Would love to see this in the final. I like the half English half Hebrew. very good beat to it

WOW. Sometimes songs just click with you immediately, and this is one of those times. It's instant, modern, strong and from what I can gather Mei is an excellent performer, so I think this is definitely one to watch. An easy qualifier and I think this could give Israel their best result since Dana International won 16 years ago. I would love to visit Jerusalem next year...

Excellent song, excellent singer, great choice. Powerful and exciting and I can’t wait to see what she does in Copenhagen . The best thing I’ve heard so far this year. Go Israel .

This one sounds like a contender for the top spot. Mei gives a punchy performance and the song has a memorable beat and melody. Worryingly there is the ghost of Kati Wolf's doomed Hungarian entry floating in the wings but fingers crossed that Mei's vocals will be spot on.

David E

oh I LOVE this! I have a feeling a Kati Wolf result may happen though as it's such a similar song. But for me this is their strongest song since Diva!

I've never been a fan of songs that mix two languages, and, personally I'd prefer this all to be in English, but this is very good.  If Mei can pull it off live, this should sail into the Final.

Eddie

Wow, what a voice and what a song. I love everything about it. Great modern pop song, performed really well. I like the energy and drive and it works as a duel language song. My only fear is that the live performance is like Cascada last year. Fingers crossed not!

Gary

How does she sound live? This has some power. Give the fans a brassy bird with a beat and you've got a fan winner. It has a little too much repetition, but its gutsy and if she can sing live the way it sounds in studio version, then they should get a great placing. I don't think its a winner though and could it go the way of Kati Wolf? I hope not.

I prefered "Be Proud" but this is a goodie - even if she looks rather scary (not to mention under-dressed in the video).  It has that anthemic feel to it and, if she hits it right on the night, Israel will 'Be Proud' of her I'm sure

Nico

Nice soft rock start, but just doesn't go anywhere. Certainly no hook to it. Disappointing, I think she deserves a better song.

Paul J

I love this! It has the wow factor and I was impressed with the video and her voice (live vocal is of course a different matter) - the mixture of English and Hebrew works well. Contender?

9

Sally-Ann

A million times better than last year's dreary offering, this pop/rock track will live or die by its live performance.  If she nails the vocal, we could see Israel in the final for the first time in years.

6

Tristán

My least favourite of Mei's three offerings ("Be Proud" was wonderful). This is not a bad tune, and it is growing on me, but I don't like the aggressive lyrics, what's all that "skinning you out" rubbish. A bit unnecessary. What exactly is the meaning of her song? Sure semifinal-fodder.
