EUROVISION 2014 - COPENHAGEN - DENMARK

SECHUK JURY 2014 - THE JURY REVIEW FOR MOLDOVA

2 Juries - one UK and one International, will comment on and rate the songs of ESC 2014 as they are chosen.

The idea is that the songs will be voted on first impresssions, as most TV viewers will do in May.

The main difference of course is that in May they will be subject to the same production standards and opportunties, something that differs at National Selection stage.

I am not a fan at all. This was a mess on stage, and I can't listen to the song without getting annoyed by the arrangement. I can't see this translating well on a larger scale.

Just boring.

Pfff...Now this song is really bad.It a mixture of noise and a lot of cheep choreography so it is a long 3 minutes for me. It will not work I think at all with the judges.I do not see this going to the final.

This starts sounding very much like Moldova ’s song in Helsinki (Natalia Barbu - 'Fight'). Strong vocals and a fairly heavy but powerful ballad. Cristina's English diction needs some work before May. They have a very good record in the contest and have only missed the final once in 2008 but without the help from Romania in the semi final I fear this might struggle.

Boring song ... the voice also is not so interesting ... difficult to see this in the final

I'm hardly getting excited about Moldovan entries, but this one is a great from the first second until the end. I love this musical arrangements and I find Cristina a strong performer

This feels very dated to me, and doesn’t really go anywhere. Not in any way memorable

Moldova should take a leaf out of Armenia ’s book and learn how to use dubstep correctly. The backing track of this sounds like the Autobots and Decepticons are having a rage war in my headphones. Cristina's voice is alright, however she needs to sing in a higher key at the start - it sounds like she's struggling in the live performance.

She is great singer and song is quite typical europop-ballad, generic and nothing special. The song isn’t bad and  I like those dubstep elements. But she still has to change something. I'm sure the performance will be changed and maybe the song too, but in a better way.

What a difference from last year Moldova 's entry. Don't really like this one, I hate the staging. Moldova could struggle to qualify for the final this year.

This song has a pulse, and you can almost feel tha blood running in your body ...and with a voice like that, you don´t need a microfon   GOOD !

Boring song, pompous and hasty, confused in its goal to mix up a melancholic melody with contemporary sounds. A failed attempt to do something "cool", that goes over the quite so interesting title. A strange song and a strange way to perform it.

Another surprise, probably their best song. Although the song is sung in English, the visual presentation seems to reflect maybe some Moldovan culture so it is very interesting. Last year the presentation of the Moldovan song really lifted it much higher in my rankings than just the song on its own and I think itis what is happening also this year.

Dramaaaaaa...I've always found Moldova to be one of Eurovision's most underrated countries. There's something familiar about the song, but it doesn't feel tired.  Can't wait to see how they stage this!

I dismissed the Moldovan entry last year and was subsequently blown away by it but I can't see this having the same effect on me. Typical formula entry...

Can't say this does much for me, just an average contest song. Interesting outfit though!!

What’s not to love about a woman wearing a half normal/half robot dress? This is Eurovision through and through. Cristina has a great voice and gives it her all. I think it’s a likely qualifier, but it’s sadly not as good as Aliona Moon last year.

This is strange but somewhat enthralling. There seems to be something lacking, I’m not quite sure what and it could do with being polished up as indeed could the singer’s diction. It’s not going to win anything but it’s a competent entry.

Maudlin pianos, staccato strings and the delightful, rich baritone of La Scarlat. This is a bit of a dog's dinner of a song, reminiscent of incidental music from a long-forgotten Bond film. Disappointing.

Completely bonkers, and something you’ll only ever see at Eurovision, but that’s why I like it! Great performance. Fab singer.

Oh eck. I don't like this. Where's the tune? It's got a very heavy, plodding feel. Can't see it qualifying.

What am I? Indeed my dear. It starts in a fair too low a key for her. But then suddenly changes into a good modern pop song. Love the beat and production and she does have stage presence. Not a winner but should make the final. Not sure about the dress either!

The studio version is haunting. The live version is a mess, with the imagery both scary and unnerving. I like the song, which is dramatic and potentially epic. With a make-over this could qualify and even do well, but if they keep it as it is, not a chance.

A (mostly) good voice and dramatic... and a mess. Can hardly understand what she is singing.  It's not really full of the joys of spring.  She has no feelings of mercy... that's shows! The sudden ending is quite good though.

I had heard that the Moldovan final was one of the best this year. If that's the case, then something is rotten in the state of Moldova and they are exporting it to Denmark . I do hope this dullness doesn't make it to the final.

4

Paul J

Er has anyone noticed that she can’t really sing? Song reminds me of something from a musical. I can’t see this replicating the success of last year

5

Sally-Ann

A Bond theme with added histrionics, a decent live performance could see Moldova through to the final.  One of the better of the Eastern European entries this year.

Fantastic song, like a moody, gothic version of Croatia 2011. Nice hint of occasional dubstep. Glad for Cristina Scarlat, I adored her "I Pray" last year but she had no chance against Aliona. This probably won't even make the final, sadly. I want one of those drones, by the way!
