I went into this song thinking I was going to completely hate it, but it's actually pretty good! Hovi Star gives off an Adam Lambert vibe, which could translate well with the masses. I've been humming the tune since I first listened to it, so that's always a good sign!

Now this song is a train wreck. This is very cheep and lame.I don't think it will pas the semi final, further more I think this is one of the contenders of the last places. I just have no words for it.It is the cheapest, most outdated song till now.

I fed up... each time to see someone "special" between the performers begging for attention. I loved last year's participation of the country but this year I do not think that this song will go to the final. This fact is confirmed by the missed alliance between Israel and European Countries. Moderate song

UPDATE - The new version is worse. No score change.

A good example of Eurovision pop music, and Hovi’s voice is amazing. Just, please, prepare something special for Stockholm ! And I like another version of this song more than this one. UPDATE - Now the song his this a bit tragic atmosphere, and I also like his voice. And the song keeps the Eurovision spirit. +0,5 points from me.

Israel possibly made the biggest ESC mistake when they failed to select Ella Daniel. Instead Hovi Star (the Israëli Adam Lambert ?) will travel to Sweden  with 'Made Of Stars', written by the same man behind last year's Israeli success story, 'Golden Boy'. Unfortunately 'MOS' lacks the golden shine of its predecessor. Hovi is a great singer and performer but I am not convinced this song will capture a lot of points come May as nothing about it is particularly outstanding. Scored 6.5.

UPDATE - The new version of 'Made Of Stars' is a R&B ballad yet the piano and strings give this a classical, almost symphonic feel and the anthemic chorus is so much stronger now. This is definitely an improvement and the way to do a revamp. The power of the song and the message it sends are more evident.

This sounds like a modern take on a typical israeli entry, it's powerful and romantic but upbeat. The singer has a very good voice that carries the song well, but all this "maaaaade of staaaars" is getting very repetitive...

Frederico

This is not Israel 's best entry but has some power and could possibly do quite well and qualify. For me it's just ok.

6

José

Hovi Star is a good singer, however the song and his performance lacks absolutely of charm. Sorry! Perhaps Israel could qualify but ending in the low part of the table.

This is so old fashioned and uninteresting I got bored after about the first minute. There was just nothing to hold my attention.

This is great! I can easily see a singer such as Adam Lambert release this. I'm a little sad there's no Hebrew in there but I'll get over it quickly. Love his voice too.

He's a great vocalist and the song is not bad. It surely needs a revamp, but it has potential.  The chorus is quite catchy and anthemic but in general it drags a little bit. Hovi will perform it well and his vocals certainly come across well on the recording, so maybe it's one of those songs that will be lifted with a live performance.

The new version sounds much better, it's easier to listen to. It is more emotional a bit melancholic and I personally like Hovi's voice. Having said that, I will be a bit concern about Israel 's chances to reach the final this year.

I used to like Israel´s songs, but not anymore. Are they tired of the contest or are they trying too hard ending up in nothing? It goes up and down ....

Ineffectual song, weak performance, offhand singer. I am completely disappointed by the Israeli National Final. There's something in his voice (as well as in his face) that reminds Boy George, but the result is rather negligible. An unavailing attendance for Israel or, better, another unavailing attendance for this year.

I was in the minority that did not like Israel 2015 and now I gather I will again be in the minority who do not think 2016 is horrible. I have heard it once and it sounded quite good and a little hypnotized with it. I love the title. I see some say too monotonous and repetitive but we have had many other songs before I thought was far worst. Whether Israel will make the final, I cannot predict, but at least this will not end in my bottom like last year

I want to like this more than I do...but at this point the song feels overdramatic and overwrought. Hovi's got a great voice, but this feels like an Adam Lambert reject.

Every time I listen to this I start by thinking it is too dull to make an impact but if performed well the calm start and build may have the wow factor.

Andrew G

It's like something out of a musical. he's got a good voice but i don't really like the song, a bit boring and couldn't wait for it to finish. Scored 2.

UPDATE - new version is a lot better and I quite like it, I score it 9, this song has potential and is a definite qualifier now

Daniel

I like this song. It's not as good as Israel 's last three entries, all of which I've adored.

6

Danny

There is no doubt that Hovi is a fantastic singer and performer, and he will stand out with his unique look but and I feel he is much better than the song itself, which is a bit run of the mill. I think it has chances to qualify but I can’t see it doing much business in the final.

6

David B

Oh dear. This is boring. The melody, such as it is, is plodding and repetitive. Hovi really is 'hypnotising, hypnotising' me with this slice of dullness. This needs a major re-working if it is to have any chance of qualification. Disappointing.

3

David E

I don’t mind the guy’s voice, but the song doesn’t really do much for me. Scored 5.5.

UPDATE - Oh dear. The original version as least had some life about it. This is just a horrible dirge now. Next…

2

Dean

Oh dear. This really isn't good. Repetitive, yet somehow meandering and unmemorable. I'd be surprised if this qualifies for the Final.

3

Eddie

Oh Israel , you did so well last year. Nothing wrong with the song but it does nothing. I fear it will get lost in the semi.

4.5

Gary

I’m still dancing around to ‘Golden Boy’, so this tends to pale in comparison. The verse promises a better chorus than we get, which is a little repetitive. Eurovision needs to get people going, flags waving and hearts beating. This almost gets there, but misses the mark sadly. Scored 7.

UPDATE - Who revamps a song and makes it slower?! “Hypnotise me” was the hook line that kept me interested in this – where did it go?! Sorry Israel , now so so dull.

5

Joe

This is the ultimate persongification (see what I did there?...) of average. Unexciting. No final this year for Israel ...

5

Mark M

Really like this song - very melodic and boy can he sing.  I love the start of the song and it doesn't really go anywhere, but it could do well if staged well.

7

Martin

Israel made the right choice this year with this powerful soulful ballad, Hovi giving 'Made Of Stars' loads of emotion in his vocal delivery of this impassioned love song.  This should easily see Israel into the Final - as long as you don't have a problem with the word 'star'!

7

Matt

Ok, well this is a dramatic song with a beat but.... I don't like his voice and don't think his voice suits the song.  And despite it being dramatic, there are only so many times you can say the title before it starts getting boring!

5

Nico

So sometimes at the ESC circus performers give an "unplugged" performance of their entry in one of the sideshows and people often ask why don't they sing that version on the night, it's so much better. Looks like Israel decided in advance to do just that. Although, I think they should use the original hook in the last third of the song, just to lift it that bit more, I think this is really quite pretty. Semi 2 is very open, so it could sneak through..

7

Sally-Ann

Well THIS is a disappointment.  After the fun and energy of Golden Boy, this rather stodgy ballad has neither, and Hovi Star has a look that promises so much more.  Will struggle to qualify.

4

Tristán

Oh, the perfect example of a damp squib. He looks really cool, the song starts out as though it could be another Aminata-written EDM belter, but it peters out into banality and nothingness. So much promise, so little delivery. Won't be seeing him in the final, no way. Scored 4.

UPDATE - This song is now worse than the version in KDam, as it now lacks some of the EDM promise that was in the original. The "Made of Stars" bit now reminds me of "Molitva" but not in a good way. His voice really is horrible, too.
