I am not a fan of theatrical songs like this at all. This sounds like it belongs in a musical production... not in a competition for the best song in Europe . Way too over the top for me.

Our selection was very lame and a lot of weak songs. 2nd and 3rd were a little bit better than this but our country is bringing old school with a very kitsch song. It will probably qualify but just I think this time. In the final I don't see this higher than 15-20th place. The singer has a great voice but that's it. This is one of the weakest attempts from us.

This Balkan country chose a good song but has no prospect of victory. Countries generally reluctant to send a large name or a possible winning song for fear and no defeat other and .... maybe to organize next year's contest for financial reasons. Romania has not reached the victory till now and probably will be away from the Trophy by the year's choice. With difficulty progressing to the final.

I like rock-opera music, but this tune is so difficult to remember. Nothing special or interesting. And very boring.

On his 5th attempt Ovidiu Anton will represent Romania at the ESC with the song 'Moment Of Silence'. I cannot fault his vocals and the song has a strong message but Ovidiu's performance is over the top and it is very predictable with cheesy lyrics that lack any depth. It will undoubtedly qualify and maintain Romania 's 100% qualification record but to me it sounds very pompous and like something from a dated rock musical.

At first I couldn't help myself smiling at the look of this group and the musical sound of the first verse, but when the chorus starts I'm hooked. I love the symphony-metal sound of the song and the singers voice is really nice. It might not be a typical esc-song but I still like it. I hope they bring the sword dancer, he was really cool.

What is this? I usually like operatic songs at Eurovision, though I know they are usually not popular, but this..., this is something else. Disney musical? Latvian pirates? Dunno. May Romania not qualify? Most likely.

Even when I'm not fan of this musical gender, the song has personality and has a nice begin, a clear development in stage and a proper end, so good luck Romania , a different style for you this time.

This is a good song but is very musical theatre, don’t know if the voters will pick up the phone en mass to see it into the final though

This is awesome! An epic power ballad that wouldn't sound out of place on a Meatloaf album. Can't wait to see what stage show Ovidiu brings to Stockholm . Extra points for penning the song himself.

I think this song would be better to be sang by someone else with more charisma, presentation and ability to perform. his voice is nice the song isnt bad but The thing is they need to improve the whole performance and make it standing out.

I'm a rock person but that is far to be a great rock entry - nothing compare to Montenegro 's or Cyprus ' entries. It's a bit messy, it really misses something - well that one is not for me.

The year of ballads ? This is one of the better. Like a drama. Good performance !

I'm really disoriented. Pompous, tedious, ineffective song. I only see a moderate attempt to make something great and evocative that quickly comes to a Meat Loaf-style bad copy. Really stodgy. It leaves me quite indifferent.

I should have started off with a moment of silence but it is difficult to do that in words. Like last year, Romania again surprises me with a very nice song and I like this. I do not think it is so dynamic to win but they will make the final and do fairly well. I like the fact that they do not wear just ordinary clothes but have some sort of uniforms.

Waaaaaaay too overdramatic and theatrical for me. I guess I shouldn't be shocked, considering that Romania brought us Cezar, but this is a bit too much. How do you say "Meat Loaf" in Romanian, anyway?

I think I was one of the few who liked Cesar which is why I probably have a guilty pleasure about Ovidiu's fifth attempt to represent România with a pop at the establishment. I would have actually preferred the more modern sound of Vanotek although the subject matter may have been too similar to Voltaj.

I don’t like this and it’s weird, strange song and awful singing.

Daniel

I've heard it once. Didn't know whether to like it or laugh at it. Very conflicted!

We have been missing this kind of song this year, this is very typical Eurovision fare that has absolutely no life outside of the contest. If this was almost any other country I would say it was a non-qualifier but Romania always seem to make it no matter what they send, and it will stand out, but I have no desire to ever hear this song again.

Seriously? Pompous old nonsense from some 'Les Miserables' wannabe cod-opera. It was comical to watch and maybe people will vote for it on that basis. It really is quite dreadful.

2

David E

Game of Thrones Opera! Love it! This is ostentatious, preposterous and all just waaaaaay over the top. And it’s magnificent! Another Top 10 placing for the perennial qualifiers.

Dean

What is this? A powerful singer with a song that doesn't really go anywhere. Despite some interesting costumes and a bloke playing with his sword my attention wanders through this.

3

Eddie

Very 'We will rock you' the musical. Memorable - he does have a good singing voice but it doesn't build or go anywhere. The staging is mixed. Will stand out based on genre but could go either way.

Could this be the first time that Romania doesn’t make the final? This sounds like a weak song from a westend show and I can’t believe it won a National Selection. What a shame, leaves me cold. Would have been fun to have Mihai Traistariu back…

4

Joe

The best of a bad bunch from their national final. It's very anthemic and will do much better than people might predict. It's very dramatic and would give so many options for staging. He's a camp Meatloaf. Actually I do quite like this...

Mark M

It's like something from Phantom of the Opera - but without the hook.  Or decent lyrics.  Not a fan.

'Game Of Thrones - The Musical' hits Eurovision!  A pastiche of every overblown rock video you've ever seen, Ovidiu brings showmanship in spades to the stage, squeezing out every possible facial emotion you could hope to see and supplies a powerful vocal to compliment this performance.  Superb entertainment for Stockholm ...

7

Matt

A cut-price Roger Pontare.  However, I do like it as he sings with passion and feeling.  Perhaps need to polish up the act a little, as well as the ending (it needs a big vocal finish).  A bit samey but vocals save it.

5

Nico

Can't really fault this. Great voice, well structured song. It just doesn't really grab. A simple case of not my cup of tea. Now if HE had been singing Mystery of a Blood Red Rose, we may have had a contender on our hands. It will no doubt qualify from semi 2, but won't really trouble anyone outside of Moldova after that.

Absolutely ghastly, I'm afraid - awful tune, grating voice, irritating costume.  From a land that has sent us so many gems, this is a grave disappointment.

Tristán

Yes, most of us wanted Vanatek to win this (or Mihai, at a push) but I don't mind Ovidiu winning. Of all the "not typically Eurovision" songs we've had this year (and there've been a fair few) this at least is a very good song and I really like Ovidiu. This will certainly qualify. It's fun, it's camp, and I like it more than I should.
