I sense a dark horse here! I absolutely love this song. So simple, catchy, feel good, and charismatic. If Austria can get the staging right and deliver live, I have a feeling this could leave a strong impact on audiences. It may not currently be a front runner for the top 5, but I'm confident that will change.

A very average pop song. Nothing special at all. Good voice and very west style of music. I think that's bad because the song isn't memorable at all and does not have something to get my attention.

I never understood why some countries insist on sending boring songs. Maybe this song is addressed to a large number of listeners from all over Central Europe but it does not have nothing in common with the music style of the Contest. Poor Austria why why why .. I wonder why?

Achensee and the Alps in the video are the best things about this entry. The song is nice but as 8th track on an album. Very mediocre and quite boring.

'Running On Air' has a simple, folky, slightly soul feeling to it with positive and uplifting lyrics. Charming, inoffensive and endearing, most definitely but perhaps just that little bit too safe to really set the scoreboard on fire and it lacks that 'Wow!' moment. A lot will depend on the live performance but Nathan has the likeability factor rather like Gianluca had in 2013 ('Tomorrow') and just look where Malta finished that year. Gorgeous music video.

Cute song, good singer, nice melody. Everything is very -nice-, and unfortunately a bit boring.  There's no character or attitude what so ever, which is to bad because the singer seems very professional. Still, it's nice.

This type of songs is so not for me. And if Nathan sports a guitar on stage – which seems to fit this kind of thing – it will be beyond annoying. Looks aren’t everything and I don’t think this will go through to the final.

The fate of this song will depend much in the quality of the show, the song is just average, so the choices of the creative team will be much likely the difference among semifinal and final.

This is ok but I feel goes nowhere gets really bored after about a minute and a half won’t be voting for this in May

This sounds quite similar to the Spanish entry which could be interesting should it qualify, but it's very catchy and pleasant to listen to. I have no idea how this is going to work on stage though and I think it'll be more suited to a smaller venue when performed live.

The song is simple but pleasant. It is very radio friendly and he is super handsome which will certainly help. It's actually not bad in full. I really love it! It makes me feel good when I listen. The melody is enjoyable. The singer's smile is so lovely, too. I think it's perfect.

It's not a bad song. Nathan has a nice voice but the song in it self is just a bit forgettable. I'm afraid it might just not stand out enough at the Eurovision.

Don´t like this kind of music. Already forgot it ....

Nice one. Elegant, modern and catchy; I like that swinging melody it sends out; a sophisticated pop entry that snaps your fingers. With a proper staging, it could be a contender in Kiev . Well done Austria

I like the title RUNNING ON AIR and after we had WALKING ON WATER last year. The song will probably get Austria in the final but then not do much further. It is fairly easy on the ear but at times Nathan’s voice is a little irritating.

Ah, the ever-present campfire song. A cool, breezy, inoffensive little pop number that doesn't take itself too seriously, and just makes you feel good. Who knows how it'll score, but at least it's enjoyable!

Not bad a nice little tune, but i think it will get lost in the contest, song really does not stand out

This is a very pleasant catchy song which sounds quite contemporary and Nathan is s very likeable performer. I'm not quite sure if it is memorable enough to light up the scoreboard but it should be an easy qualifier but mid-table at best.

6

David B

A happy, laid back, easy sound. It's non-threatening, Radio 2-friendly and just the right side of average. This should qualify and sit comfortably mid-table. Nothing new from Austria but thankfully, nothing awful!

I suppose this has a fresh kind of Ed Sheerin vibe about it, but it’s really not the kind of thing I’d ever listen to, so while it’s OK, I’m really not enthused. I’ve no idea how this will fare, but Conchita it ain’t!

Dean

Oh thank goodness! Something fresh, modern and different. I really liked this on my first listen, and it builds really well. A surefire qualifier, and I think Top 10 in the final. Well done Austria !

Eddie

A radio friendly pop hit. A great feeling which I hope translate into a fun stage show. He's got a good voice but will it stand out enough - hope so!

Edward

Difficult to evaluate without seeing a live performance.  Austria is entering a contemporary pop song that should play well with voters and jurors.  It needs a strong vocal, good staging concept and some serious dance moves to realize that potential though.  It could fall flat without even one of those.

Gary

This takes a while to get going, although the flow is pleasant and enticing. The build hits well, but maybe too late? A good middle of the road song, but it has some strong appeal.

8

Joe

Fairly inoffensive song, which I suspect has been rejected by a few boybands already before ending up here. Not a big fan of this

5

Kevin

Running on Air is the song with the official video release available already. This song has a real Ed sheeran vibe to it, Nathan is very likable, this feel good song is all about overcoming your fears, I don’t find the song will be memorable, I wouldn’t class this as a ballad, but it’s not far off, it’s a classic radio friendly song, this is not the kind of song I would personal download, I don’t see it as defiant qualifier this year

6

Lloyd

"Running On Air" is an Rnb meets pop song that has an Ed Sheeran vibe. It's easy, breezy, feel good, and I like it. Not sure if it will stand out amongst the rest of the ballads this year tho?

7

Mark M

Pleasant enough song - like a poor man's cliched Ed Sheeran song.  Not particularly memorable and will need the kury to vote for it to get it through to the final I think.

Martin

These melodic tones of Nathan Trent are in the realms of John Legend.  "Running On Air" is so laid back and mellow that this could stand out in Kyiv in a totally unexpected way.  Power ballads, stand aside - the way to grab attention this year is with a smooth dose of soul...

8

Matt

Quite a pleasant and 'care free' song.  Reminds me of a lazy summer's afternoon.  Enjoyed it.

Nico

Oh good for Austria , bringing some cheeky Ed Sheeran spring delight to the contest. Catchy, uplifting with silky vocals, I can see this doing a Roman Lob at the contest. After storming out in a huff Austria has returned with a new found confidence, may they keep rising like the proverbial....

Sally-Ann

Another current-sounding number which occupies the space vacated by the Netherlands last year.  Ambles along in a fairly boring way, but the song and performance is inoffensive to both ear and eye.
