What a shame Germany ... I had such high hopes this year. Levina has potential, but the song is so sub-par and doesn't go anywhere. I can't see this getting Germany out of 20th-26th place.

A very good pop song sang very well. The only problem is that it is not memorable enough and that will not help the song. Still I think is a pleasant song. I like it. I think Germany will be in the second half of the scoreboard again

Plagiarism; no no. in recent years Germany is between my favourites even though it cannot collect points from the other countries. Let me remind everyone that political and external factors always involved in the contest and especially around the 'German pole'. Don't you forget that 27 years after its first entry had managed to reach to the top.

Daria

Unfortunately, for the last 2 years Germany switched from interesting entries to something mediocre with (faked) American sound. I am ok with listening to it, but my attention distracted very quickly and it’s not good if you want to score high in the televoting.

After the most complicated national final ever thought up, German hopes to avoid an unwanted hat trick of last places rest on the shoulders of Levina and the (commissioned) song 'Perfect Life'. The intro bass line sounds very much like 'Titanium' and indeed one of the songwriters has produced hits for David Guetta among others. Levina is a good performer with stage presence but some attention needs to be paid in the styling department. The song, about taking risks and going after your dreams is not particularly innovative and is by no means a winner or a Top 10 contender but I think it will be enough to keep Germany off last place.

The intro sound a lot like Sia's Titanium. Just an observation. The song is very safe, nothing spectacular about it. The singer is quite brilliant, but I'm not quite sure if it fits this song. Nothing memorable about this at all, unfortunately, but it's far from bad.

Forgettable but nice I guess. Couldn’t remember any of it one second after I heard it. I find Levina’s voice slightly irritating. Germany will safely be on the bottom right hand side of the scoreboard.

A song with a 90's mood that I really like. She has personal charm and I fear it will be in the bottom of the final, however I personally found this one of the most appealing entries this year

This is a really bland song, and I have to say that I find the singers voice really annoying. Nothing really positive to say really

This entry doesn't sit with me very well. She doesn't have the strongest voice (although she stays in tune) and when I listen to the song all I can hear in the verses is that someone has been heavily inspired by David Guetta/Sia's "Titanium"

Good song, so catchy and nice voice. The beginning of this song is very similar to Titanium by David Guetta. Levina delivers it well and has good stage presence as well as a nice voice. If she can ‘nail’ the vocals and this is backed up by some stunning staging this could definitely finish in the top ten.

It's boring, sounds cheap and dull, not a nice voice either. That could easily end up last.

Again a "march " Ok, it´s not so bad, but they always have a "marchmelody " A little bit tired of that .....

Nice one. Catchy enough to avoid another bad result for Germany . Enjoyable, good enough sung, not a masterpiece but something worthy.

I read a hat trick of last places over the last 3 years. Not sure if that will happen, however the song is not PERFECT. It is better than the last 2 but it is totally forgettable, both the song and the singer and it stirs up no emotion in me, and probably tons of others so it could end somewhere below everybody’s top 10 and so do badly. I find there are 1000 other similar female singers around so this had nothing to draw your attention to it.

I've listened to this song a handful of times, and genuinely can't remember how it goes, for better or for worse. The only thing worse than a bad song is a forgettable one, and this doesn't bode well for Germany . Shame, since Levina seems like a good singer.

This song is ok, not amazing, she sings well, the song starts well and I thought it was going to turn out really good, but I found it a bit boring and it's a type of song that will get lost in the middle of  the others.

Levina has a great voice and stage presence and she boosts this song, which is nice but doesn’t really go anywhere. I can’t see them out of the Bottom 5, which is a shame because I rather like this.

Alleged plagiarism aside, this entry ticks all of the 'safe' boxes. Musically unthreatening with a pleasant performance. Given that this has been Germany 's downfall in the past two contests, it's odd that they should go down this route again. As average as Eurovision gets.

David E

Levina has a terrific voice and oozes enthusiasm with this catchy song.  Hopefully this is going to get them away from their last place of the past two years.

Oh Germany ….you used to be one of my favourite Eurovision countries, but for the last few years you have really lost the plot.  And this year is no different.  The national final was so unexciting, only redeemed by the host, and Conchita and Nicole.  The song they have selected starts sounding like Titanium, but then goes nowhere.  The performer is good, but is better than the song. A definite contender for last place, I’m afraid.  Schade.

4

Eddie

Sounds like an X Factor / Pop Idol winners song. It's nice and she's nice. It's nothing special and so I don't see it on the right side of the scoreboard.

Germany’s final was brave but overthought, and the resultant song―though pleasant―feels like background music with limited staging scope.  Commissioning songs is risky; composers write to the brief with little enthusiasm, and the performer may not connect with the song.  Added to that, Levina seems to lack stage presence and energy.

5

Gary

Oh dear. The plinky plonky intro has promise, but the melody soon turns into a dated rallying cry (more of a whimper) that could have struggled in Eurovision 2002. Germany are at an ESC low and need something fresh. Much too middle of the road. Could easily be last – a bit like the UK ’s wet effort in 2010.

whilst this is nice it is utterly forgettable. Similar result to last year I expect

This standard track called Perfect Life was one of two arrangements which the Germany public voted for.  Nothing special in my opinion just a stand power ballad with a beginning, middle and an end

3

Lloyd

Germany selected the best artist, but I preferred her singing wildfire over perfect life. The song selected is a middle of the road number that lacks power, and could do with a key change somewhere.

6

Mark M

Perfectly competent song as you would expect from the Germans.  But it's entirely forgettable, as is the singer.  Candidate for last place.

The best singer and best song won Unser Song 2017.  Levina is very assured on stage and she has a superb voice but it remains to be seen if "Perfect Life" is the right vessel for her talents - a very average MOR pop song that has no hook and is quite mediocre...

Matt

I do like the song although it does feel like it needs to go up another gear.  However, I think her vocal isn't strong enough to carry the whole song.  With a better singer (she's not awful) and re-arrangement I'd rate this higher.

6

Nico

So pleasant, so enjoyable,  so simple; a little too simple perhaps for ESC. There's no real ooo that's the one I'm going to pick up the phone and vote for moment in the song. I wouldn't skip it on a playlist,  but I fear the worst for Germany .... again.

The first few notes of Titanium mingle with shades of anthemic Coldyplay, performed by the very engaging Levina.  This is surely Germany 's best song for years and deserves credit for its modern, fresh approach.
