I was so conflicted when I first listened to this, but after the 2nd listen, I was hooked! I love the feel good vibes, the meaning, and the performance. I could listen to this over and over again and not get tired of it. This will definitely rank top 3 with viewers.

Now Italy is bringing a safe Italian song. I don’t hate it or love it. Its ok, the singer is good, its very Italian...but doesn’t stand out in any way. I think Italy will end in the middle table with this. I’m still waiting something new from this country too.

E ora Italia. A very interesting proposal is coming this year  from Italy . After the first placing at the San Remo Festival...it's to for a flight to Kiyv. A modern sound with a very sweet performer plus the inspiring concept of bringing on stage a gorilla with the goal to attract  viewer's interest.  Lyrics with meaning and many prospects for a very good placing ...and why not a Grand Prix.

I think this entry (the full package) is close to be perfect. Catchy song, charismatic singer, local language, staging – this is what Eurovision is about. I just want the live vocal would be a bit more powerful, but it’s quite ok now.

'Occidentali's Karma' is fresh, uplifting and a lot of fun and it is nice to see a lighter side of Italy for once. Witty and current lyrics, an insight into the contemporary world with plenty of phrases everyone understands like 'karma' and 'namaste' thrown in for good measure. Francesco is a very charismatic performer with an interesting voice. Whether it will reach the heights of 2011 or 2015 remains to be seen but yes, it is looking very good for Italy in Kyiv.

I LOVE this! This is the funniest thing I've heard in a long time, and I don't even know Italian. I love his voice, the gorilla, the dance and the colours and the live performance is even better than the video!

I do really like this song, however I fail to see this as the winner that the majority of eurofans seem to think this is. The live performance is great, and I do like that the lyrics have some meaning.  This is fun and the choreography makes me smile. Winner material? Don’t think so.

I was so angry that Fiorella didn't win (Actually much better than Occidentali's Karma) but during the last day, this is a grower on me, now I can catch the charm of this Karma, although I found the lyrics the poorest ever sent by Italy

I love this song and feel that it will take a great song top beat this. Great energy and love the ape too.

This is excellent! The song has a great hook, it catchier than a cold during winter and Francesco has amazing energy and charisma on stage. Who else can get a dancer in a gorilla suit on stage and somehow make it work? Awesome song!

The choice for Eurovision is clever, the song is original and different, it's fun & danceable, unforgettable definitely. It’s quite a catchy tune and he has a nice huskiness to his voice. Sure it’s a feel good. Francesco amazing performer with a great sence of humor and has the charisma to successfully carry this song through to May and I am sure he will do a great job to become a fan favourite. Italy are on target to be the highest scoring top 5 country this year.

YES !, Italy do it again this year. Another great song, it is fresh, original, entertaining. My favourite so far by a long shot. This will score high surely and it could easily be a winner.

WOW ! Is this the winner or what ! Well if he doesn´t win he has a huge summer hit 2017 !

Roberto

Ingenious mix of irony, glittering sounds and smart lyrics. So powerful and catchy that you can't easily get it out of your mind. He is really talented and he is a great singer and performer. An amazing contender for this year. Well done !

Earlier I saw the polls had some female as a favourite and liked that song. Then another song won, again a male. Here I saw just the video and that was really nice and interesting and different. On its own (audio) I do not think the song is that special, but it is still for me the best of the 10 songs available so far.

Fabulous! Immediately catchy, magnetic performer, and it's lighthearted and tongue-in-cheek without being a "joke entry". Absolutely love this.

I like this a lot, at this stage this one is my winner! good song, great melody, good voice, the song is catchy and instant, this will grab the attention of voters and will be remembered, like everything about this song and performance,

Danny

The BIG favourite. I like this but I think it might be a little overrated as there’s not much uptempo chosen so far. Will do well, but I can’t see it as a winner.

Well, we've all been here before - loving a song to bits only for it to crash! Israel 2014 anyone? The stand-out performance at San Remo and the kind of joyous song that every Eurovision needs. Will Italy 2017 do a Norway 2009? I'll go and sit quietly in a corner for a moment and calm down. Wonderful entry though isn't it?

Francesco’s satirical dig at Western society’s fall into consumerism and “internetology” is as refreshing and welcome as it it joyful.  This is nothing short of brilliant and if any other entry is chosen that it better than this then I’ll be surprised.  As a dear friend put it, minutes after his victory in San Remo and confirmation that he would take the song to Kyiv, “For every Jamala there is a Francesco”, and for that I am truly thankful.  Forza Italia!

This is fab. A joyous piece of pop fun. I would love it to win, and I really hope Europe gets it.  And you just can’t help liking Francesco. I hope they can somehow replicate the way the orchestra engaged with the song at San Remo .  Rome 2018? Yes please.

Eddie

What a breath of fresh air. Modern, fun, great stage presence. Not to sure about the gorilla but you do remember it. Be good to hear the 3 minute version but a top 5 for me!

Quirky, fun and happy, this is strong song and great to hear Italian.  Add to that memorable use of a gorilla and potential for audience participation, dancing and shouting.  Francesco can perform and is clearly likable.  It works live on stage with a large audience.  This is a potential winner.

So soon after Grande Amore , Italy has another serious potential winner. This is a brilliant and infectious piece of pop, with the addition of an unforgettable ape, which doesn't even seem kitsch... Solid, believable, modern and fun - with obvious audience participation built in. I just love how much he clearly enjoys performing it too… Genius!

This is great fun. It makes me smile. Easy to mimic choreography on the dance floor. And a gorilla - fabulosa

One of the big five, Italy will be represented this year by Francesco; there has been a lot talk on social media about this song “Occidentali’s Karma” this will standout this year, along with his dance moves (which I think we will all be doing with him) is the presentence of a man in a gorilla suit… I really hope this does well, and don’t forget “Al-Layl”

Uptempo fun catchy song that gets me moving. Francesco is charming and very likeable, a good choice for Italy . The gorilla in the performance is a clearly a gimmick that will make it memorable and stand out, I'm already doing the gorilla dance!!

This is such a fun song and it is going to stand out in May.  Is it a winner?  I'm not sure.

Amazing - a song in Italian I actually love!  Francesco's gravelly voice sets this wonderful tune up perfectly, the pop beat gets my head nodding and the staging with the gorilla is the icing on the cake.  No need for translation as this song's happiness shines through - hopefully losing 37 seconds won't destroy near perfection.

Italy has done it again!  I love this!  I even found my foot was tapping along and I like the unusual ending too.  His rasping voice suits. A song that people watching can dance/sway to.  And I hope for a dancing gorilla on stage :)

10

Nico

He quotes Heraclitus, "panta rhei", everything flows, and everything certainly flows in this impeccable package. Drawing from Desmond Morris' observation in The Naked Ape that modern customs are driven by primitive instincts, the lyrics make clever observations of our modern society with a joyous tune that makes all us naked apes want to join in the dance with the one on the stage, Even the gimmick flows. Yet if you don't understand a single word, Gabbani's infectious charisma sells the whole thing to you effortlessly. A Eurovision song evolved to perfection. I hope they don't spoil it with poor English lyrics like they did last year.

Not certain it deserves the Second Coming hype it's getting from the fans, but in a field of doom-laden ballads it's incredibly refreshing to hear a proper, vintage Eurovision song circa 1982.  And if he sings in his gorilla costume, I might put a monkey on it.
