In a year full of ballads, this one actually stands out! Great vocals, nice staging, and an edgy song... a formula for a decent placement in May.

Once again a ballad with a women. It will be a bloodbath in the semi finals. This song is not to original, doesn't stand out. The singer has a good voice but thats it. I cant remember anything about this song. It is just there.

I am so happy because Poland (one of my favourites) has chosen this song. There is something "wild" and "revolutionary" into this melody. I don't think that it will rise over the 15th place of the Grand Final. A very nice voice but ... something is missing. Poland you will be on the top of Europe soon... but unfortunately NOT this year

4

Daria

Not my type of ballads, too much drama and the chorus is quite annoying. Kasia has a good voice, but she wants to show it too much so I can’t remember the song itself.

Since their return to the ESC in 2014 Poland have qualified every year. This year Kasia Mós will attempt to make it 4 in a row with 'Flashlight', a modern ballad with a chilling and edgy undertone. This bears a resemblance to Cristina Scarlat's 'Wild Soul' (Moldova 2014). Very dark, tense and mysterious, Kasia really sets the tone with her finely tuned vocals. The chorus could be more dynamic and a spectacular performance with strong visual impact will be needed if this is to hold it's own against the Albanian and Georgian songs that are drawn in the same semi-final.

That singer has some pipes! It's a shame this song is so choppy, because this lady has a great voice! It sound a little bit like a James Bond song, but the lack of flow ruins it and all of a sudden the song has ended.

Frederico

Slightly over-dramatic, which usually would suit me fine, but this seems all quite empty. Fire, like a burning desire, taking me higher, walk in a wire?? Really? No!!

José

This is a song to listen with the eyes closed in the middle of the night, and let yourself be transported to another world. Kasia really make me thing she can bring ESC to Warsaw

Not a fan of this song - was very bored early on in the song. Difficult to judge how it will do in Kiev

5

Melissa

I'm loving this! Kasia has a powerful voice, and whilst it doesn't have the most unique tone to it, it really suits the dark style of the song. It's ripe for a wind machine!

8

Octavio

This has a modern/contemporary sound. She has got good voice. The orchestration towards the end of the song creates a powerful and emphatic finish which I’m sure will be well received in May and I love the strings/violins in the chorus.

Paul C

An average dramatic ballad, there has to be at least one every year, but this is not my favourite. Just average.

5

Pia

The same as Switzerland , but she really got a strong and good voice, so maybe ....maybe it will go well for her.

6

Roberto

It seems a "mystery song". Strong vocals but there is no build or shape in the song. It may be more inordinate than captivating. A huge, great amount of energy without a definite direction.

5

Roy

Again my favourite did not win, but to be honest, I like almost all 10 songs from the Polish selection, the best so far for me (well in my taste). This is good and I think it could go a long way again. Maybe flashlights will be handed out to the press in Kyiv or some people in the front row of the stage to have the sort of OLSEN BROTHER effect.

Samantha

Feels like a modernized Bond Ballad, but it took me a handful of listens to remember how it goes. It's fine, not bad at all, but doesn't build enough, and just...sort of...ends.

I find the song boring, does not go anywhere, however she has a good stage presence and good voice

6

Danny

It reminds me a little of LoveWave from last year without the sassiness. Decently performed and will qualify due to the diaspora but not in the running.

7

David B

What is she singing about? Three minutes of miserable, mangled English bellowed out with more haste than grace. The rhythm of the song is peculiar and a bit messy. All in all, a wee bit horrible.

3

David E

At least this ballad is a modern one and therefore stands out quite well. I like the build through the song. Unlikely to do as well as last year, but will make the final.

7

Dean

Kasia has a great voice, but it’s yet another example of the singer being better than the song.  I just don’t get it.  A strong performance is a certainly, but qualification to the Final isn’t.

Eddie

I want to like this but something about it annoys me. The production is good but I feel she's trying to hard with the vocals. It's missing that special something.

5

Edward

Moś is a strong performer and this commercial song ticks all the boxes.  There is room for interesting― flashlight―inspired staging with liberal use of solo violin.  I am just not inspired by yet another angst ballad.  The Poles are getting expert at mobilizing their diaspora, so it will do well nonetheless.

6

Gary

Her voice seems too harsh for this song. The song has some power but seems more about shouting out a line or two than bringing the audience along. Not even sure what it is about. On the back of what happened in 2016, this might do better than it should though.

5.5

Joe

Another one to file under 'nice but dull'

29 year old Kasia Mos delivers a great vocal with the song flashlight; Kasia comes from a very musical family, with her father being a well-established conductor in Poland .  Yet again we are faced with the battle of the ballads.  I predict that this will make it through to the grand final

6

Lloyd

Kasia gave a great live performance with emotion that brought the song to life, its dark, full of mystery with sex appeal. However like Finland , its not my cuppa tea, it slow and does not excite me.

4.5

Mark M

Worst Polish entry in a long time.  I struggle to find the melody and it's so dated it's painful.  Diaspora should see it qualify but I can't see it doing well in the final

2.5

Martin

Is it a love ballad?  Is it a "strong woman against the world" tale of angst?  "Flashlight" is an interesting song to listen to and Kasia has a great voice but being not one genre or the other leads to a confused message and a plodding entry that will struggle in Kyiv.

5

Matt

Not a fan of her voice and found it quite aggressive and shouty.  The music also made it sound somewhat creepy and fraught in places. An example of a messy ballad.

3

Nico

Great singer, beautiful.  The song though, I just don't get. Stops, starts, goes nowhere. Really, really sorry, I know there are some who are really impressed by this, but I just don't get it.

2

Sally-Ann

A really unpleasant three-minute experience in every way - a harshly-sung caterwauling power ballad with no discernible tune or melody.  I'm left with the overall impression of aggression and one of my least favourite entries so far.
