I can somewhat understand the hype behind this original and quirky ballad, but I just personally cannot get behind it. If I closed my eyes, I would envision this entry in black and white and being a 1950s entry. Definitely not my style.

I like this song and the sound but I'm feeling weird when I see the live performance. The singer makes me uncomfortable and that is not good. Still I think Portugal has a shot to the final and maybe will return in the final. The songs melody is good and the simple staging might help it.

I am in love with the Portuguese entry this year. Sweet and clear... it speaks to my heart. If EBU is fair this time (hmmm not as usual) we all will move to Lisbon next year. It is a song that mirrors the music culture of the country and it is amazing in its simplicity. Welcome back Portugal you crowning my heart

Marvelous! Summer night at one of the Portuguese coastline towns, a café with local music and delicious local wine – this what I can feel and imagine, and I like it. It’s all about atmosphere and lyricism.

Portugal remains true to it's own language and culture. This feels vintage, yet has an eternal, classic quality. The beauty of this is it is pure, simple, delicate and touching. A nostalgic poem about unrequited love, the harmony and the melody take you on a journey. Salvador 's natural performance during FdC was endearing. This little song with a heart and soul will be a moment of peace and a breath of fresh air and really only needs a very simple staging. It might not be mainstream enough to win but I would love to be wrong and at very least the final would be enriched with Portugal there.

This took a lot of listening for me to decide what I actually think. I love this! I love the retro sound, and I just want to go out in the sun with a glass of wine. The singer is very talented and even though the song is old school, this feels fresh for ESC 2017.

There is something very special about this. Its success however will strongly depend on the staging and performance on the night. Let’s hope RTP will invest in this entry as it’s the closest they’ve been to winning for quite some time. Simplicity at its best, both in the music and the poem.

It is very hard for me to evaluate this entry, I feel a deep connection with the lovely lyrics and a deep rejection for the body language of Salvador, I found his movements highly disturbing, I wonder if any lady can be fascinated or horrified to be the muse of Salvador. Still lyrics are a real poem

WOW! what an absolutely beautiful song I didn’t want it to end. Has to be top 3 if not the winner. Go Portugal !!

Melissa

A truly beautiful entry - an absolute joy to listen to. Portugal 's best entry since "Senhora do mar". His performance style and this nostalgic throwback theme might not be to everyone's taste but this is pure class and a contender to win the whole thing.

The song is amazing! It has that old, rustic serenading charm that would fit perfectly into a vintage love record. It's warm, it's delicate and I hope it is adequately appreciated by Europe in May.

Yes, that's what I call quality. Just love everything about it, the music, his voice and portuguese is such a beautiful language. I really hope to see this do very well in Kiev .

Back to the 60´s, but I like this ! SOOOO different to all the others ! GO PORTUGAL !

Very nice melody. Deep moods in an timeless frame. A dated-alike song that underlines talent and elegance. A "scruffy poet" look, also, gives to the entry something really different and really particular. Well done Portugal .

I really wanted Portugal to pick a good song, there were several but the one they selected is not bad but I find it boring and almost fell asleep. I think this will struggle to make the final.

There isn't enough space for me to describe why and how much I love this song. Simply put, it's timeless, effortless, sweet, quirky, and undeniably romantic. I've played it dozens of times, and I melt each time I listen.

It is a nice song i like it personally, however do not think it will be everyone's cup of tea, hard to say how this will go, or even it will make the final, not a winner

This is a HUGE fan favourite and I can see why it has a lot of appeal. Salvador has an excellent voice, but I find his stage presence a little distracting, and overall it just doesn't come across for me. The juries might like it but I am not sure the televoters will. This is either going to do very well or come rock bottom in the semi. For me, computer says no.

Absolutely sublime. A lovely, warm and atmospheric ballad performed not by a shouting machine in a gown, but my one of the sweetest voices ever to descend on Eurovision. Win, lose or draw, this is full of charm. As delightful as it gets.

Absolutely sublime!  Every time I listen to this I just want to burst into tears.  Salvador 's emotion feels so sincere and the melody is just beautiful.  I would love to see this go Top 3.. Can you imagine the reaction in the hall if it wins?  Fab. U. Lous!

This is beautiful, and really deserves to give Portugal its best placing ever.  A simple, timeless song, wonderfully sung and presented.  Can we dare to dream that this might actually WIN?

We welcome back Portugal with an old fashioned chanson. He takes you to a warm summer's day in Lisbon with such emotion. His awkward style makes him so watchable. It's 3 minutes of loveliness. The dark horse for me!

An astonishingly beautiful and classic love song, delivered in contemporary style.  There is a hint of Cole Porter to the music: a mellifluous melody flows like a river carrying a simple yet heartfelt message.  Sobral’s performance is tender and vulnerable.  You don’t need to speak Portuguese to be deeply moved.

What a gem of a song for Eurovision! Salvador ’s quirky presentation adds to the warming feel of this little masterpiece. Subtly delivered, he could be singing in any language and you would feel the passion of his delivery. Added to that, it is sung by someone from Portugal , it is written by someone from Portugal and it is representing Portugal – genuine result! I want to see them get their best ever result with this – a little bit of Eurovision magic.

The song is really nice, and sweet to listen to, but the performance is just a little too odd .

Very disappointed with the entry from Portugal this year; after not participating last year I would have liked to have seen a more engrossing entry, unfortunately I feel this will not connect with the audience and will fail to qualify to the final

Sleepy, quiet song with a jazzy feel. Salvador has a lovely voice but he looks awkward in his performance that makes it uncomfortable to watch. Not for me I'm afraid.

I don't really get this.  I am sure it will get decent jury votes and he's charming in an odd sort of way, but it just doesn't sound right to my ear.  Could quite easily have won Eurovision in the 50s.

Martin

It was a Portuguese 'Paul Potts' moment - a disheveled guy with some weird mannerisms takes Eurovision back to the chanson days of the 1950s with this superb piece of vocalisation that makes you feel like you are floating on air.  Whether this will be too genteel to be noticed in Kyiv is another matter...

Very nice song in an 'old fashioned straight out of the musical movies' type of way.  Nicely sung although he appears somewhat awkward on stage.

8

Nico

Very sweet and endearing, with an Ella Fitzgerald/Billy Holiday noir feel to it. I can see this being nicely staged in black and white. It's quite niche though, which is not necessarily a bad thing at ESC, but I just can't see enough people getting it to drive it forward. I wonder if the duet with his sister would not have been a better option.

So lovely to hear a proper, old-fashioned ballad this year, and Portugal returns to what it does best.  Heavy on the strings and piano, this gorgeous song is reminiscent of Moon River , and dreamily performed by Salvador .
