Ok, it has a beat but, in the end, this is repetitive and boring and, to me, is a whole lotta nothing.

This looks, and sounds like a mix between Azerbaijan and Armenia 2017, but more half-assed. Song is a bit off and the performance starts out promising but falls flat after she gets out of her cage.

The annual Maltese ' Battle of the Bland' was won by - you've guessed it, something bland! Christabelle is a decent performer but she's lumbered with generic twaddle offering us various lyrics repeated in quick succession. This genre, for me, has outstayed its welcome. Maybe her performance will be enough for a place in the final but the song is hardly Eurovision Gold.

I really think that this is one of the poorest songs that Malta have sent in a long time, Its not terrible, just instantly forgettable. Don’t think we will see Malta in the final this year.

Malta seems to like 1 word titles with a song built around that word. Despite the worthy theme, the song is generic in the extreme and sadly a sign of the way things seem to be moving in Eurovision style. She also doesn’t look comfortable moving around the stage like that. Does not deserve to make the final, dire.

It proved to be 4th time lucky for Christabelle. Certainly the all- out staging with a mix of props, graphics and dancers proved to be effective and powerful during the national final performance. The song's message is about compassion towards those suffering from mental illness but the lyrics used to convey it become a little overly clunky and by building on clichés it becomes more of a pre-fabricated pop product disguised as a serious song.

On the plus side, great stage show and her vocals are really good. It’s a shame it’s just a generic pop song - doesn’t do anything and not memorable. Not a finalist for me.

This is nothing special for my taste. I have never hated a Malta entry so this is no hate but there are several elements in the song that reminds me of Loreen’s Euphoria. The message f the song is quite important and I think it will appeal to several fans and juries.

Decent stage show but the song isn't great and the lyrics are nonsensical.  She can definitely sing so let's see what they show up with in Lisbon .

A typical Eurovision song, it is not bad but it reminds me of so many other past entries. Of course they put a lot of efforts on the staging and doesn't look bad. This could qualify if well performed but this is far from a potential winner.

I liked the power and conviction behind Christabelle’s voice and the digital graphics helped her song stand out in their final. It may struggle on the international stage but it’s certainly better than last year!

7

Frederico

Despite Christabelle’s rather weak vocals and awkward stage presence, this is a pleasant enough entry. This song offers nothing new but has a certain rhythm to it. However, I am not sure the song is memorable enough to make Europe pick the phone to vote for it come May.

Christabelle delivers a powerful message about mental health in a very topical subject for Malta .  It would progress through to the final purely on this point alone, though, as it's an unremarkable ballad that could do with a re-working before Lisbon .

3

Roberto

This sounds interesting. A strong performance, but maybe a bit average song, full of contemporary sounds. It would seem a bit chaotic, a bit mess, but it has some potential and it can grow on everyone after some listenings. Overall good.

I watched the Maltese final and this totally passed me by.  There were definitely better songs so quite how this swept the board I’ve no idea.  It’s not bad, but I think Malta will struggle to qualify with this.

This song is all over the place. The live performance is full with a lot of stuff but the song is generic. It good when it is on but that is it. I do not think Malta has good qualifying chances this year. Overall the performance is not bad, but it is not memorable enough.

Adding to what is rapidly becoming 'Social Awareness' Eurovision, Christabelle tackles the subject of mental health with intelligent lyrics, a metamorphosis from panther to artist, a journey from darkness to 'pyro' light, along with passionate and emotional connectivity with the viewer - 'Taboo' as a complete package is a triumph.

Christos

The same old boring procedure. Too many songs submitted for a very small country and a smaller music scene respectively. Another one year that Malta will be out of the final and it's the maltese tv's fault I think. Excuse me Maltese collegues but there is a need of vision in this Eurovision Song Contest. Fans and audience are fed up with all this sum of mediocre songs without reason.

The prototype Eurovision entry–dramatic and strongly performed. Credit for the staging; though not entirely original, it complements the song and keeps us interested throughout.  Is there enough of a “moment” though?  I want the song to take off, and it somehow never quite does.  Should see Malta through though.

It’s an okay song. But nothing special. Christabelle really tries to make the best of it, but there’s still work to do to improve the staging.

This has very impressive staging and there is an interesting message behind this song, which is about mental illness. However, I think it still needs a bit of a revamp on the production to make it more powerful. I also do wonder if the whole thing is a bit too dark. Christabelle is an decent performer, though.

7

Jose

Good entry, modern, contemporary and vocally well performed. It has everything for getting a nice place like some editions ago Ira Losco did.

I like the girl and the presentation is good, but I feel like I've heard it several times before in many other national finals and don't really need to hear it again. I want to like it because it's little Malta , but it's just not for me.

Melissa

I really enjoy this song! Whilst there were two other songs I was hoping would win the trip to Lisbon , this is a very respectable entry. Contemporary, decent hook, and Christabelle looks like she's enjoying herself on stage. My only complaint - she is far to choreographed. There are dancers already on stage & she should focus on her vocals a bit more.

Not Included at time of publishing (just missed out on the 12):

OCTAVIO - Same as every other song. Nothing stands-out. Completely forgettable, I think it will fail to impress. Only the gimmick to make it watchable. Her voice is also questionable. 5
