Message to Coordinators
|
The OGAE Song Contest will soon be ready. In just a few weeks, national coordinators will receive CD's with the first part of the show. This will be recorded in Lyon with all songs. As 2 years ago, the show will fit on 2 C90 tapes for jurors. Remember, a jury MUST have at least 5 members (no maximum). A special booklet
with details about the host-city and all contenders (biographies and
lyrics) has been made and we're really proud of it. Martial - who is also
one of your two presenters - has designed this booklet to make it more
comfortable for each juror to enjoy the show.
To allow time for making good-quality copies of the booklet (to be sent to jury members with the tapes), we will send it to all coordinators within a few days. It will be forwarded via the Internet, as a PDF file. Most should be able to read PDF files. If not, you can find a PSF reader free of charge on the net. |

Almost there....
|
Our two producers and guests are working hard on the show "live from Lyon". Clubs will get it in the first half of October. Clubs
can prepare by composing the National Jury, which must be open to all
members of the Club. Please note that a minimum of 5 Jurors is needed. |

Last Preparations....
|
The OGAE France production
team is working hard both on the official booklet and on the show
itself, so that you will able to receive them both with no delay.
Today,
a short check-up was made with clubs from which we still need some
things. Please, do not waste time. Thanks.
As you have noticed,
the final line-up now includes 27 participants, instead of the original
29. So last year's record won't be beated before 2005 !
At that time of the
competition, OGAE Albania sent its apologies for submitting a
song "too old". Once again, we regret but the decision has to
be taken as the "year of release" is one of the main points of
the rules.
As far as the other
club is concerned, still no news from Latvia. No ill feeling... but we
still wait for an email explaining us their situation and we hope they
will organize themselves better for the future.

More Bad News.... |
OGAE
France is sorry to announce that a song presented for this year's OGAE
Song Contest can not compete, as it had been published before 2003. This
concerns the Albanian entry. Two different sources told us that
"Ante" was released in 2000 or 2002... which actually can be
confirmed on the official website of the Albanian artist. Only songs of
the Contest year and of the year before (2004 and 2003) are admitted in
our contest. This is the rule. For
the same reason as for Latvia (lack of time), it is unfortunately
impossible to now have another song from Albania. Its club will then make
its debut in the OGAE SC next year. You
can still enjoy an Albanian entry in the OGAE Video Song Contest. |

No News is Bad News.... |
The
deadline for providing OGAE France with the name of every entry at this
year's OGAESC was August 10. Not a single piece of news from the Latvian
coordinator, in spite of many emails. It is now too late as our two
producers are already working on the show as well as on the official
booklet, which requires to be sure of the number of participants. So
we regret it but we have to consider OGAE Latvia as eliminated. |

Thanks to
everyone for your efforts in sending the requested material on time.
Every
coordinator will very shortly receive a personal email with what's
missing, if something is missing !
Still, we need
to know the title of three countries' entries.

The French song will be
revealed later this week, as the deadline for French voters was on
August 20. This is no problem though. As host-country, we do not face
postal delays !
Anyway, two
other clubs have to make their mind up very quickly.

August 10... is the deadline for every
participating club to submit its song for this year's OGAE Song Contest. 5 songs still
have to be revealed. Please, do not leave it too late! Regarding the
material and the fee, a check up will be made next week with everyone on
what has been received and what still has to be sent : by mail or through
the Internet. |
Don't
forget that we must respect a very tight planning to be on time at each
step of the contest. Thanks in advance!

18 Jul 04 - REMINDER TO PARTICIPATING COUNTRIES

Here
is a small reminder of what has to be done to make our task easier.
It
is compulsory for all participating countries to forward a
CD, a CD-single or an MP3
file containing the selected song for the joint recording of the
entries (no tapes allowed).
The
entries must be accompanied by the
original lyrics, a
translation in English, two good quality
pictures of the performer(s) - or a URL indicating where it
can be downloaded - , information
on the performer(s), the author and the composer. This biography, in
English, must not exceed 30
lines. It is absolutely necessary to have this material to be
able to provide all the fans with a quality booklet. If the bio is too
long, the organizers will unfortunately have to shorten it.

Our club has the privilege to organize the 19th edition of the OGAE Song Contest. The organizing committee has already been completed. It will actually be the same persons as in 2002.
|
The 2004 edition will be held in Lyon, hometown of our two producers and commentators. You will then be able to discover this wonderful city. The contest itself will take place on December 8th, which is a very special day in Lyon... You will learn more about it. |
