Allelu

The heart will cry with a song

The wind will rise with the dawn

A song of hope is born

A song of Heaven, sweet mystery .

Allelu, Allelu, Allelu let rivers flow

A time for your dreaming

A time for believing

Allelu, for evermore

A silent song, of the night

A silent dream in flight

A silent wish for all life

A sign of Heaven, sweet mystery

Allelu, Allelu, Allelu let rivers flow

A time for your dreaming

A time for believing

Allelu for evermore .

Toše Proeski was born on 25 January 1981 in Prilep. He had his first more significant public appearance at the teenage festival "Melfest" in 1996 and 1997 in Prilep, when he was awarded first prize twice in a row. His vocal abilities were amazing and soon, he was welcomed by the wider audience very enthusiastically. He performed the song "Pusti me" at the festival "Makfest" in Stip 1997. A year later, he participated at the Skopje Festival (the national contest for "Eurosong" entry), with the song "Ostani do Kraj". That summer, he took part in the festival "Ohridski Trubaduri" in Ohrid and started working with the well known composer Grigor Koprov. This turned out to be a very successful cooperation resulted in a great number of hits, and the first two were "Usni na Usni", and "Sonce vo Tvoite Rusi Kosi". With these two songs Toše made a breakthrough on a national level showing that he would have a serious place on the Macedonian music scene. His debut album "Nekade vo Nokta", with 11 beautiful songs, was released in May of 1999. That summer Toše had his first solo concert in Skopje which, in spite of the rain, was unforgettable for all the fans.

Toše took part in Skopje festival 2000, with the song "Solzi Pravat Zlaten Prsten" but, even though he won the majority of votes by the televoting system, he came third and didn't represent Macedonia at the Eurovision Song Contest in Stockholm that year. In that period he started recording the tracks for his second album "Sinot Bozji", which was promoted by the end of June 2000. On this ambitious album Toše worked together with the composers Kire Kostov and Grigor Koprov, the lyricists Ognen Nedelkovski, Miodrag Vrcakovski and Mirjana Danilovska, while the arrangements were made by Kire Kostov, Davor Jordanovski and Slobodan Markovic. The album brought some great hits, like "Nemir" (duet with Karolina Goceva), "Vo Kosi da ti Spijam", "Izlazi me Uste Ednas", as well as "Iluzija" (Grand Prix at the festival "Slavjanski Bazar" in Vitebsk, Belarus) and "Tajno Moja" (second prize at the festival "Suncane Skale" in Herceg Novi, Montenegro).

The second prize at the Podgorica Festival 2001, for the duet with Karolina Goceva, "Nemir" followed. At the prestigious manifestation "Oskar Popularnosti" he was awarded as the most successful vocalist from the former Yugoslavia in the year 2000. Toše Proeski performed a track from his debut album called "Sonce vo Tvojte Rusi Kosi" at the festival "Suncane Skale" 2001, when he won the second prize of the jury. But, according to the audience the real winner was Toše!

In 2001 he set off for an Australian tour, together with several Macedonian music artists. The encounter with the manager Ljiljana Petrovic changes the stream of Toše Proeski's career. He started working on the third album "Ako me poglednes vo oci" in a music studio in Athens, Greece. The album was recorded in two versions: Macedonian and Serbian.

Toše’s latest triumph was the victory at the festival "Beovizija" in Belgrade in April 2003, with "Cija si", a song which became a huge hit in Macedonia and the other former Yugoslavian republics. At the moment, together with the manager Ljiljana Petrovic, Toše Proeski is working on his world promotion.

If There's Any Justice

(Mick Leeson, Peter Vale)

Oh, Yeah

I would be your man, you would be my girl, oh yeah

I believe, I do

If there's any justice in the world,

I would be your man, you would be my girl, oh yeah

If I found you first you know its true

He would be alone I would be with you

When you decide, don’t let me down

Coz there’s nothing to be certain in my life

And you've seen a thousand times

There's not much justice in the world, oh no, ah

Refrain

If there's any justice in your heart

Your love really changed, is it in too hard? oh no

Why don’t you remember how it feels

Not to give a damn for anyone but me, yeah

I can’t believe, you’d be deceived

Changing memories from true to fantasy

When there’s nothing left but tears

And there’s not much justice in the world, oh

Just because he’s wrapped around your finger

Don’t fool yourself with dreams that might appear, oh

Everytime you stop and trust your feelings

The truth is out there somewhere, it’s blowing in the wind, oh

Refrain

When you decide, don’t let me down

Coz there’s nothing to be certain in my life

And I've seen a thousand times

There's not much justice in the world, no

If I should lose a girl you know that there’s not much justice in the world, no, no

If there’s any justice in the world,

If there’s any justice in the world

You’re gonna be my baby…

Lemar Obika was born on 4 April 1978 in Tottenham, London the successful R&B artist has become one of the most talented artists to emerge from an overload of reality television shows broadcast throughout the United Kingdom in recent years.

Originally destined to study Pharmacy at Cardiff University, Lemar opted for a singing career against the advice of his parents.  While working as a bank clerk by day, he would perform at night and secured support appearances with Destiny’s Child and Usher.

Signed to BMG in 2001, his first single “Got Me Saying (Ooh)” received much needed radio play but was never released.  Perhaps a degree in Pharmacy was the way forward after all … until Lemar heard about auditions taking place for ‘Fame Academy’!

After a series of elimination rounds, Lemar eventually qualified as one of ten finalists and each week performed live on television, finally coming third between competition winner David Sneddon and runner up Sinead Quinn.  Soon afterwards Lemar turned down the offer of a record contract with Mercury Records in favour of a more lucrative arrangement with Sony.

His first single, “Dance (With U)”, reached number two during August 2003 and was followed by his debut album, “Dedicated”, on which Lemar co-wrote most of the songs featured.

“If There’s Any Justice”, chosen by members of OGAE (UK) to represent them in the 2005 OGAE Song Contest, was released at the end of 2004, but more than six months after entering the Top Five remains as popular as ever in the airplay charts.

Venn

Når himler brennes sorte

Når solen lager natt

Og alle er blitt borte

Og du tror du er forlatt

Når dagen går i stykker

Når tiden er forbi

Og håpet trenger krykker

Og en hånd og holde i

Refren:

Jeg kan være en venn

Jeg ser at du faller

Jeg ser at du faller

Du vil reise deg igjen

Jeg kan være en venn

Jeg ser at du faller

Jeg ser at du faller

Du vil reise deg igjen

Og jeg – jeg kan være en venn

Når meningen blir liten

Og tomheten så svær

Når troen er blitt sliten

Så er jeg fortsatt her

For når ingenting kan gjøre

Det helt og godt igjen

Er det en ting jeg kan gjøre:

Jeg kan være en venn

Refren

Refren

Outro:

Jeg kan være en venn..

When skies are black from fire

When the sun makes the night

And everyone has gone

And you think you’re left behind

When the day breaks apart

When the time has past

And hope relies on crutches

And a hand to hold

Ref:

I can be a friend

I see that you’re falling

I see that you’re falling

You’ll rise again

I can be a friend

I see that you’re falling

I see that you’re falling

You’ll rise again

And I, I can be a friend

When meaning becomes diminished

And emptiness so grand

When faith has become tired

Then I’m still here

For when nothing can make

Everything alright

There’s one thing I can do:

I can be a friend

Ref:

I can be a friend……

Rap-part:

I’m sending songs to Mesopotamia

Hear me sending soft opinions to Dagobah

No, I can’t stop thinking of Neru, then at Hood, then at Sioux

You mustn’t sleep on it, Ravi promises the wounds will return time after time

We’ll have to make song after song, tune after tune, this and that

Don’t dare to stop when resisted!

We’ll get it over with; promise to get you up, up, up!

”Venn” is one of the few positive results of the tsunami-disaster in Asia December 26th last year. Lene Marlin and Espen Lind, two of Norway’s leading pop-stars, wrote the song and called on all their colleagues to join them in the studio. “Venn”, as well as being a single, makes up one of over 30 songs on a double-CD where the best of Norwegian music is presented.

The proceeds of the single-sales go exclusively to the tsunami-victims of the Aceh-province in Indonesia via the Red Cross.

Over 60 Norwegian artists are singing here, including Thomas Dybdahl, Kurt Nilsen and Morten Abel. Other familiar names are Sissel Kyrkjebø and Norway’s last two entrants to OGAE Song Contest; Bjørn Eidsvåg and Odd Nordstoga. The rap-part is done by Ravi, who at the time of writing enjoys immense success with his new album.

A big hit in Norway, “Venn” falls into the same tradition as “We are the world”, and at the same promoting Norwegian music on the whole, actually to some people’s dismay. Nevertheless, the Norwegian jury didn’t care and made “Venn” # 1.

Love Me or Hate Me

Nothing's easy

You gotta take it with a pinch of salt

Nothing's pleasing

You always want that little bit more

What is certain

You never gonna make me feel small

Not in this life, not in my mind, not ever again

No matter what you say to me

Love me or hate me

That's what you're gettin'

So come on get ready

Refrain:

I don't care you don't know me

Enough to talk about me

You can say all you want to

Love me or hate me

I don't care and I'm aware

I live my life so beautiful

Is that good enough for you?

Try to teach me

Try to turn me into someone new

And it gets to me

Out of my way I'm coming through

No matter what you say to me

Love me or hate me

That's what you're gettin'

So come on get ready

Refrain

I'm sorry

I don't fit in

You always speak about perfection

That's not me, that's not me

Refrain

I don't care

I don't mind

I don't care

I'm aware

I don't mind

I don't fear

Ira Losco will represent Malta in the OGAE Song Contest 2005 with her latest single "Love Me or Hate Me". Currently Ira is touring Germany promoting this single together with other songs taken from her album, Someone Else.

From a very young age Ira Losco was destined to live music. Whilst other kids were practicing sports and other activities, Ira Losco spent most of her free time in the music hall, playing piano and singing to her friends. "I guess there's no real reason except that kids do what they love best during their free time".

At school concerts, she wowed the audiences with her powerful angelic voice. Ira Losco went from strength to strength, but living on an island, with a population of just 400 thousand, has its limitations as to how far you could go. "Malta is a beautiful island which is and will always be, my home", says Ira with a pensive smile. "But I always knew what I had to do". With a burning ambition to share her music with a wider audience, Ira Losco was determined to succeed beyond our shores.

Ira Losco made Malta proud in 2002 with her Eurovision entry "7th Wonder", where she ended 2nd, a few points behind Latvian singer Marie-N. That marked a beginning of a new chapter for Losco's career. Nowadays she's writing and composing her own songs!

"Love Me or Hate Me" is one of her latest creations. This single is taking her in a European promotional tour, mainly in the German speaking market where she was supporting act for big names, such as Sir Elton John.. And so, here we are...this is the entry that the Maltese OGAE club, with a help from the international judges, is presenting this year for the OGAE Song Contest 2005...Ira Losco and her very own, "Love Me or Hate Me"!!

Petite soeur

Petite soeur,

Lââm’s story sounds like Cinderella’s fairy tale in many aspects. She was born in Paris on September 1st, 1971. Her real first name is Lamia as she has Tunisian origins. She had a very difficult childhood. Her parents had 8 children and due to their poor conditions of life, they had to send away their children to a public institution (called DDASS) that welcomes children whose parents can’t take care of them. Lamia was only 9 years old when that cruel episode happened. Life in these public institutions (some kind of orphanage) can be very harsh for children and Lamia managed to handle it through singing. She always sang for other children and young people, imitating Donna Summer and Dalida. Her talent is already obvious for many people and she convinced the DDASS institution to pay singing lessons for her. At the same time, she made several castings and singing competitions. She managed to get hired as a backing singer for some professional singers. During a recording session a musician told her : “You should change your name to Lââm because you sing with your soul!” (“L’âme” means soul in French).

One of the most beautiful days in her life was when she was chosen as a backing singer for Mariah Carey on the occasion of her concert in the huge Bercy concert hall in Paris. But that’s not enough for a living and she still has to make odd jobs (as a waitress and salesgirl in clothes shops) to make ends meet. She sometimes sings in the streets and in the subway stations.

One night, her life took a decisive turn. As she was singing in a cabaret called Hot Brass in Paris, she was spotted by an important producer who signed her first contract. In 1998, her first single was released. It was a cover version of a very popular song by Michel Berger “Chanter pour ceux qui sont loin de chez eux” (to sing for those who are far away from home), one of Lââm’s favourite songs. The single was an immediate chart success in September 98, it climbed to N° 2 and the sales figure reached 1,500,000! After that, several other singles also became very successful and set Lââm as one of the most promising singers of her generation.

In May 99, her first album “Perseverance” was released and once again it was an immediate chart success with 3 million CDs sold in less than a year. In December 99, she made her first solo concert in the mythic Olympia concert hall in Paris (a place where all singers dream of singing). There, like in the numerous TV shows where she appeared, she could show her vocal talent and her eccentric choice of clothes (Lââm has a real passion for hats).

In May 2001, her second album “Une vie ne suffit pas” (one life is not enough) got released and went similarly successful, rapidly becoming a Gold Record.

In September 2004, her third album simply entitled “Lââm” was released. Some very famous composers like JJ Goldman and Sinclair participated in that opus. And even Lisa Stansfield sang with Lââm for the song “Breathe in, breathe out”.

In August 2005, the single “Petite soeur” was released. Lââm sang that song “live” on the occasion of the ESC French selection special show in March. The song is dealing with the problems met by a young girl in a poor suburban area, a theme which is often used by Lââm in her songs. As indeed, although she has now become one of the most successful singers on the French music scene, Lââm has remained as simple and as generous as before. She often takes part in charities and humanitarian shows and has never turned her back on her poor origins.

Perfekte Welle

(Andreas Herde &  Simon Triebel)

Mit jeder Welle kam ein Traum,

doch Träume gehen vorüber,

dein Brett ist verstaubt,

deine Zweifel schäumen über,

hast dein Leben lang gewartet,

hast gehofft, dass es sie gibt,

hast den Glauben fast verloren,

hast dich nicht vom Fleck bewegt.

Jetzt kommt sie langsam auf dich zu,

das Wasser schlägt dir ins Gesicht,

siehst dein Leben wie ein Film,

du kannst nicht glauben, dass sie bricht.

Refrain:

Das ist die perfekte Welle,

das ist der perfekte Tag,

lass dich einfach von ihr tragen,

denk am besten gar nicht nach.

Das ist die perfekte Welle,

das ist der perfekte Tag,

es gibt mehr als du weißt,

es gibt mehr als du sagst.

Deine Hände sind schon taub,

hast Salz in deinen Augen,

zwischen Tränen und Staub,

fällt es schwer noch dran zu glauben,

hast dein Leben lang gewartet,

hast die Wellen nie gezählt,

das alles nicht gewollt,

du hast viel zu schnell gelebt.

Jetzt kommt sie langsam auf dich zu,

das Wasser schlägt dir ins Gesicht,

du siehst dein Leben wie ein Film,

du kannst nicht glauben, dass sie bricht.

Refrain

alles was ich will ist Zeit,

Refrain

The group Juli come from the town Gießen in the German state of Hessen. The members are Eva Briegel (vocal, 26 years old), Andreas Herde (Bass, 23 years old), Jonas Pfetzing (Guitar, 24 years old), Marcel Römer (Drums, 23 years old) and Simon Triebel (Guitar, 22 years old).

They have been making music together since the end of the 90’s, but began under the name of Sunnyglade, singing songs in English. This brought them success in talent competitions including the “Hessischen Rockpreis” award in 2000 and a second place in the national “Deutschen Pop Preis”. “Still, we were not entirely happy with our English lyrics”, admits lead singer Eva. For that reason they took the decision to write in their native tongue and renamed themselves Juli in 2001. To the name (July in English) they say, “We are a band with light summer sounds, but still with a touch of melancholy. That is why we named ourselves after the month of July – nice name, don’t you think?”.

Their first album (Es ist Juli) was released in September 2004 and has sold in excess of 600,000 copies. It also earned them three nominations for the prestigious Echo awards. Following great success as support band for the group Rosenstolz, they launched their own tour as headliner in the spring of 2005.

“Perfekte Welle” was their first single and climbed to No. 2 in the German charts. At the end of 2004 a number of radio stations removed it from their playlists after the Tsunami disaster in December as mark of respect for the victims of the floods in Southeast Asia.

Juli won the “Bundesvision Song Contest” with their second single “Geile Zeit” on February 12th, 2005. This was the contest organised by Eurovision veteran Stefan Raab in Eurovision format, but with acts from the 16 German federal states battling it out for the prize. Juli took the honours for their home state of Hessen.

“Perfekte Welle” was the winner in the German pre-selection for the 2005 OGAE Song Contest (OGi-Song 2005 – Ein Lied für Europa). The song gained its place in the OGAE Song Contest 2005 a mere six points ahead of runner-up Juliane Werding, who won the very first OGAE Song Contest back in 1986.

Valeria learned piano playing at a music school in Atkarsk. She finished this school with a cum laude diploma, which was the evidence of her talent and diligence.

Young singer entered Gnessin Academy of Music in Moscow (department of popular music singing) in 1985. Valeria’s preference for the genre of song is based not only on her brilliant talent as a singer, but also on some characteristic features of her nature – subtlety, sensibility and elegance. Entering Gnessin Academy of Music without having previously finished musical college attached to this Academy is a rare thing. This is an evidence of enormous creative potential of a singer.

In the year 1992 Valeria won the first prize in the prestigious Russian TV competition “Morning star”. This first success did not turn her head. On the contrary, she started to work very hard on her first album. Her first album was recorded in English. It was entitled «The Taiga Symphony», music by Vitaly Bondarchuk, words by Richard Niles. The album was released in 1992. It was recorded in the studios of London, Munich and Moscow. Musicians of the rock-groups «Pink Floyd», «Dire Straits», «Pet Shop Boys», as well as Moscow State Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Pavel Kogan participated in the work on this album. The album «The Taiga Simphony» was released both in Russia and some European countries. A promotion trip to Amsterdam was organized in January 1993. Videoclips based on five songs from this album were made («The Sky Belongs to Me», «I Love New York», «It’s Over», «The Return» и «Stay with Me»). A video-record for the song «Merry Christmas to the World» was also made; it was not included in the album «The Taiga Sуmphony», but became a sound-track for the TV-film made by the famous English director Ken Russell. This film  entitled «Alice in Russialand» was released in 1995.

Then there were the years of fame and popularity. During these years Valeria published some albums: “Stay with me” (an album of Russian romances), “Anna” and “The Name. Part 1”, which turned to be very successful not only in Russia, but in the former USSR-countries as well.

Valeria has been invited as a teacher to the Gnessin Academy of music. She has been teaching basics of performing popular songs from 1996 to 1998. She was elected a member of International Union of Musicians. During this period of time Valeria recorded her next album “The Best” (1999). Half a year later a new multimedia maxisingle “Snowstorm” was released, and, shortly thereafter, a new maxi-single “RigaMoscow” appeared. These new songs have remained in the top-lists for a long time.

After a short pause in her career in 2000-2002 she came back, and again occupied the top positions of all Russian and CIS charts with the songs from her new album “The Land Of Love”. Last March Valeria appeared in New York in the annual song competition which is similar to the Russian competition “Song of the year”. Late 2004 she was awarded Gold Grammophone Prize for her song “Cherno-Bely Tsvet” and the Prize of Russian Music Recording Industry «Rekord-2004» in the category “Radio-hit of the year” for her song “Chasiki”. She started the year 2005 with a big tour in Israel. It is expected that Valeria will give solo concerts in Germany in September 2005, as well as in the USA and Canada in October 2005.

Last spring, on occasion of Valeria’s birthday, Geraldic Chamber supervised by the President of Russia awarded her Mariinsky orden of the first degree for her professional achievements. This was done by permission of Russian President Vladimir Putin. This award, intended for women only, was established in 1828. Most outstanding Russian women were awarded this prize.

Espreitei para o céu

(Jan Van Dick, Fernanda C. Lopes)

As estrelas cairam e eu senti tanto frio

Ouvir a sinfonia que me toca o teu olhar

Espreitei para o mar e vi

A lua cheia a brilhar

Será um sinal de ti

Ou o amor a navegar?

O dia nasceu e o sol lá voltou

Nunca se perdeu, só dela gostou

As estrelas cairam e eu senti tanto frio

Ouvir a sinfonia que me toca o teu olhar

Mais perfeito que o mar

Mais perfeito que o céu

É o poder de sonhar

A luz que Deus me deu

As estrelas cairam e eu senti tanto frio

Ouvir a sinfonia que me toca o teu olhar

É o poder de sonhar…

I looked up to the sky

(English translation)

I looked up to the sky and I saw

That the moon was crying

With her eyes filled with tears

She asked the sun to hold her

The night fell and the sun did not move

Did he listen to her or did he forget her?

The stars fell down and I felt so cold

My dreams went away on emptiness

I want to sing a poem in moonlight again

Listen to the symphony played by your eyes

I looked down to the see and I saw

The full moon shining

Was it a sign from you

Or was it love sailing?

The day broke and the sun rose

He was never lost, he only loved her

The stars fell down and I felt so cold

My dreams went away on emptiness

I want to sing a poem in moonlight again

Listen to the symphony played by your eyes

More perfect than the see

More perfect thant the sky

Is the power to dream

The light God gave to me

The stars fell down and I felt so cold

My dreams went away on emptiness

I want to sing a poem in moonlight again

Listen to the symphony played by your eyes

It is the power to dream…
