SECOND CHANCE RETRO / GUEST JURY HITS 1972
July 2017 45 years later ... it's 1972 and we are not in Edinburgh, but the music from 1972 is still here for us. To the left are the songs of Eurovision 1972 and below are the songs of Retro 1972 and Guest Jury Hits (GJH) 1972. RETRO - Songs from Eurovision National Finals (public or internal to TV stations) of 1972 - getting a second chance at glory, selected by OGAE Clubs. GJH - Hit songs from 1972 from countries that did not have a national final for ESC72 - a chance to hear and vote on other music from the year - also selected by OGAE Clubs. 2 Contests - 2 Winners - a retrospective European/International musical heaven... 30 Juries will vote from 30 OGAE Clubs over the summer, with results early in September. Romania, Switzerland and Luxembourg are our Guest Juries this year - all other participating clubs have songs in one of the events. |

Of note here are known Eurovision artists (past/future) Katri Helena, The New Seekers, Cindy & Bert, Sandra & Andres, Kirsti Sparboe, Zdravko Colic, Serge & Christine Ghisoland, Ambassadori and Marianne Mendt. Ukraine have selected a duo which includes the father of Maria Yaremchuk from Eurovision 2014 and Albania's 1972 FIK story is one to investigate, when many of those taking part in the festival were persecuted or even jailed for music which was against state rules - can you imagine such a thing?! And let's not forget that we lost the beautiful Sandra Reemer this year, seen here for the Netherlands. Give these songs a chance - they are 45 years old, so are a World away from the hyper-polished productions of today. ENJOY this retro step back in time.... Thank you to all the Jury co-ordinators! You can download the songs from this location: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/xtfd4fzbos12dm8/AADa6NtIslhvN3kHfAHW-IEAa?dl=0 or play them 1 by 1 below.
