UPDATE FROM TURKEY (16 December 03)

So far the voting has arrived from almost everybody but for a few. The show will be produced on Saturday 20 December!

These are the people involved in the event:

-Aykut BERBER (Executive Producer)
-Olcay TANBERKEN (Creative Director)
-Tayfun ÖCAL (Director of Photography)
-Tolga IRKAN (Votings Coordinator)
-Feridun ÖZVEREN (Votings Controller)
-Can YALÇIN (Technical Director)
-Özge ÇAYSEVER (Musical Director)
-Umut CERTEL and Erkut EMCIOGLU (Presenters)
-Gary SPEIRS (Web Support)

There will be postcards for each country. The theme is the squares and urban face of Istanbul where you can see contradictions everywhere together at the same time; order and complexity, east and west, historical and contemporary
sites, etc... The contest is bilingual; English and French. Umut will explore the city in the postcards while Erkut hosts the viewers during the show before voting. The venue is called MAJOLIKA, a cafe-guest house with postmodern interior design. Special music pieces are composed especially for this contest by the musical director of the show; Özge; as the introduction music (title: Paranormal Activity - I) and postcard music. The show will be produced this Saturday (20 December) and the copy will be released by next week to distribute to all the OGAE clubs (including the non participants).

Good Luck to all Participants!

After careful consideration Richard and I have decided that the UK entry will be "What You Need Is" performed by Sinead Quinn.  In second place was Darius and "Girl In The Moon".  The video has now been sent to OGAE Turkey in readiness for the contest later this year.

For more information about Sinead, see www.sineadquinn.info

Next year it is hoped that an open contest can be arranged, but due to the deadline imposed by Turkey this was not possible for 2003.  Ace Frehmen has already shown interest and an announcement will be made in the July issue of Vision in case anyone else wants to be considered.  If no one comes forward we will notify Ace accordingly.

Note for UK Fans - OGAE VIDEO CONTEST 2003 - This year we will decide the UK entry internally as Turkey need videos soon.  Anyone interested in coordinating a more varied UK selection process for 2004 should email either Richard

( richardcraneuk@hotmail.com ) or me ( editor_vision@hotmail.com ) for further details and information.  Likewise, anyone who would be interested in being a jury member for next year should also e-mail us in the short term.
